                  • @BargainsGrabber: I think they might communicate the early release again tomorrow morning to stores.

                    • @farque: I ordered yesterday at McGraths Hill Store in Western Sydney. Not sure when will they get the stock. Haven’t got any call yet.

    • Confirming no gift card was included?

      • Totally forgot it… Will see if I can check it tonight or tmr… lol

        • Just picked mine up. No there is no gift card with Optus deal. Cracker of a deal though.

          • @Handymancan: Which store?

            • +1

@OZBsince2018: All HN stores, gift card is only for purchases outright (better off with other deals e.g. Officeworks/JB Hifi with trade in bonuses).
The Optus deal already discounts the outright purchase cost of the phone, so no additional gift card.

              • -1

@Handymancan: My question was more for the pick up as I ordered yesterday but haven’t received any call yet for pick up. So which store did u order from?

      • +2

Back from HN store. Was told the Optus 24 mths plan doesn't give any GCs. Only the outright purchase can get. Guess those who get GC with the Optus 24 mths plan are so lucky… But, worth trying asking, they might make a mistake and give one. lol

Got my S23 today and cancelled the optus plan by paying a termination fee of $793.50

    • Can you do it online or have to call?

      • Just port out to another provider it will cancel itself.

      • +1

        online on Optus portal

        • As in via live chat accessed through your online Optus account?
Or is there another way I'm not seeing?

Otherwise will just port out now.

          Cheers

          • @BW296: All good, have ported out using a $2 Boost starter kit.

PSA, don't use a Voda $2 SIM to do this, they require a recharge when activating.

    • +1

      Interesting calculation from Optus

  • For those with their phone already, is the Harvey Norman s23 generic Samsung/Aus (xsa) stock or Optus (OPS) csc?

    • Its generic HN stock, not from Optus.

      • Yep, cheers. Picking up one now.

        • Good for you. I called my store and they haven’t received any stock yet.

          • @OZBsince2018: I got the last one at the store I went to, regular s23. Im surprised your store hasn't received stock yet, usually Samsung is pretty good on that front.

            • @BW296: I ordered S23+ 512GB, but apparently my store McGraths Hill in Sydney West hasn’t received any stock yet.

  • Does anyone know how long I need to be ported out before I can port back in again to Optus? Currently on $69 Pm month-to-month plan. How can I get this deal?

  • I've seen Harvey Norman do tradeins on their website. Do tradeins work with this offer given it is in store only?

  • @umeshktangnu

So is that all you paid for the phone?

Is there any drawbacks with this like a bad credit rating?

If I do this this then cancel can I just throw my Amaysim sim back in?

    • +2

      793.50(Optus Termination fee) + 599(Paid in HN)=1392.5 (Total for S23Ultra 512GB)

      • So you purchased an s23 ultra 512gb and it came with a $250 gift card? And then you ported out and the fee was 793.50? How did you know the cancellation fee? Can you see it online?

  • +1

Received both phones and giftcards today.

    • With this optus deal or did you buy them outright?

      • Phones on a plan.

        • Lucky you!…must have had a really good sales rep or a really naive one! haha

          • @jmw2207: When the salesman was going through the promotion he mentioned it, despite what I read on here. I confirmed it several times with him and wasn't expecting them to honour that portion of the deal upon pickup. Wife sent me a photo with both phones and gift cards on her lap. I'll go with sales rep being naive. Hopefully he doesn't get in too much trouble.

            • @savagethree: Hey Mate,
Can you please share more details regarding the gift card you got from HN. If possible can you please share invoice hiding your details? As the representative in HN Werribee asking for the invoice.

              Thanks in Advance!

  • @umeshktangnu

Was that on a 12 or 24 month plan?

    Edit

Ok it's over 24 months just asking because I thought you would have to pay back $69.00 x 24

    • No, its 50% of the remaining contract payments

      • Yup, that’s correct. @kindaunstable - you only need to pay the ETC which I’ve calculated it and shown in the deal description

  • +1

    Thanks

Fyi for those in VIC. Picked up the last regular S23 256gb in the Richmond store this afternoon. Processed the order while in store and received the phone on the spot.

They INCLUDED the gift card. $100 for S23.

    • I just picked up the 512gb ultra in sunshine (VIC) and they gave me a $250 gift card on the Optus plan.

    • Good to know. You benefited from the pre-order deal but received the phone immediately 👍
Looks like HN Melbourne stores are getting the stock first.

    • I feel duped, asked about the gift card at HN Springvale but the rep said only for outright purchases

      • Same here. Optus deal S23 Ultra with no gift card…..

  • +1

Got the call and picked up the S23+ 512 Phantom Black from this deal. (Regional Vic) On charge atm. Definitely non optus branded. No cigar on the HN Gift card though. Still happy

  • Went in to order a regular S23 today and they gave it to me and also a $100 gift card which I then spent on a case, screen protector and some electric razer blade replacements.

  • So the termination fee on the s23 Ultra is 69 X 23 then divide by 2 Which equals $793.50. So you would also need to pay for the first month? Pro rata maybe?

    • +1

if you're gonna port back to telstra might be worth waiting whatever the cooling off period is and terminating the optus plan with one of the JB hifi/good guys gift card plans.

  • I just signed up this afternoon s23 ultra 512Gb and walked out with the phone, sadly no gift card. (Brisbane)

    • Signed up and ported out within 5min of walking out the store got the s23 ultra 512gb on the spot and also no gift card apparently they got an email saying not to give out giftcards only for outright purchases so must of caught on.

  • Anyone knows if Optus gives $10 discount for $69 plan like Telstra does?

    • +1

      No, they dont.

    • managed to get $20 discount per month through Optus. so essentially on a $49 plan

      • How did you get that?

        • +1

say you want to cancel and they just offered the discount to stay. asked another rep and gave extra $10 off so total $30 off per month 😂

          • @skido: You gona stay with them or cancel now? Does that mean your cancellation fee is less now?

            • @kimba88: Yeah wondering about that too? Would make it a killer deal if cancelling works

              • @quill: I'd also like to know. I went to cancel on optus chat and they offered $10 off for first year and first month free. Will cancel again tomorrow and hope the cancellation fee is ((59x11)+(69x12)) / 2 = $738.50

                • @Prezzo: So what happened?

                  • @quill: I spoke with chat support again and they were desperate to keep me. Offered a $30/month discount for first year. I said no and they still asked 'what can we do to make you stay?'. I didn't have time to have a bit of fun. I would have taken the offer but I need telstra reception. Early termination fee was $793.50, I tried pushing for the $738 that I worked out but no good.

                    • @Prezzo: I am having so much trouble cancelling. I've literally been passed around on chat 7 times because nobody can help me cancel. I also got offered 1month free and $10 off/month but declined. I called up today and they said that I had put in a request to cancel online yesterday and the ball was rolling.. Which is true.. But no agent confirmed they could help me at all.. So I'm not sure how that even happened. I was tol we will know in a few days if my number has been cancelled as IT have to do it. They also said I need to wait till my next bill to see what I'll be charged.
Such a fiasco. Better off just porting out to another sim rather than dealing with these wollies.

                      • @kimba88: That's weird. I had no trouble on chat via optus app. They tried at every step to get me to stay, but never said I couldn't cancel. When he finally accepted that I was gone, the cancellation went through in 2 minutes.

                      • +1

@kimba88: Also I get the feeling even if you get the 30 off it works as manual discount so if you tried to cancel even after keeping the plan for a month they charge you half the full value of the plan ie 34.5 per remaining month rather than (69-30)/2= 19.50 per month.

                        • +1

@quill: Yeah sounds about right. But still worth playing along. My early termination fee went from 828 to 793, I think due to getting first month free included in the discount. And to think the day before I was trying to price beat s22 for 820 at officeworks!

                    • @Prezzo: Wow, so technically 5 month for the plan itself for the first year. If it was for 2 years, worth not having to cancel.

          • @skido: So you signed up for this deal last week and then rang up to cancel straight away and they offered you the discount?

          • @skido: Did you cancel? I wonder if you'd get the cancellation at $39*24/2? Please let me know!

  • +1

I went to pick it up yesterday and was given the gift card without asking for it. happy days.

  • +1

I just picked up my S23+ 512GB and got $150 GC as well without asking for it.

  • Any Sydney's stores who gives giftcard?

    • I purchased from HN McGraths Hill store in Sydney West.

  • Do I have to port over my prepaid number? I've had the same number for 22 years.

Will be cancelling contract tomorrow or Sunday and don't want to lose the number.

Just checking before i pull the pin later tonight

    • If you are not keeping the service, just get a new number.

  • Just got 1 from temora HN with no GC . And call wagga" HN no GC. Try your luck asap for get extra GC .

  • +1

No luck on gift card at HN Fsychwick

    • says the one who paid $0 termination fees ;-)

    • how do you get $0 termination fee

  • Do/should I wait till I have the phone before cancelling? Or can I cancel right away?

    • there's no need to wait, you can cancel right away and just pick up the phone at a later date

      • Thanks!

  • +1

Confirming that I was able to get $100 gift card from HN Hopper crossing on Optus deal because of their miscommunication with me and will not honoured anymore. HN sunshine was giving gift card till Sunday because they mis interpret the deal earlier and now they have been asked by the head office not to do so.

  • +1

HN stores around me are frustratingly giving different info. Both say no gift card, one says no storage upgrade for the S23+ while the other says it's included. It'd be pretty stupid including the storage upgrade only for the base S23 and Ultra. It's like speaking to a brick wall trying to reason with some of their salespeople.

  • No luck getting gift card at WA Osborne Park. First girl I spoke to on the phone said yes at first but then double checked with her manager and changed to no. When I went in store the sales guys immediately said no GC

How long did it take you guys to get cancellation bill from Optus? I've been checking my email and spam but nothing. Guy on the phone gave me the payout amount with no 1 month charge, but want to confirm billing don't pull a sneaky

    • +1

Usually the next billing cycle, which is in one month

    • I signed up to the deal on Feb 9 and ported out same day, which obviously cancelled the service with Optus. I received an email notification from Optus yesterday saying the bill was ready but was only able to generate it today. Note, this is in line with my billing cycle as I also have Optus Sport active with them.

Termination fee was $828. They also charged me $13.35 for the period Feb 9 - Feb 14. I got that removed though as the service wasn't active for that period. So final cost $828.

  • got the s23+ 512gb upgrade today on $69/m plan +.$300 upfront didnt push for the gift card. Overall pretty happy with the deal/plan.

    24*69 + 300 = $1956 TCO.
If paying for phone at rrp its $12.80/mo for a 5g/80gb phone plan.

    • how did you come up with $12.8/mo?
      TCO $1956 /24mo = $81.5/mo isn’t it?

      • Probably the $300 phone /24… =$12. 5

      • So 69/m * 24 months, plus the 300 upfront cost Gives TCP. Now to find the equilivent cost of the mobile plan (if say you bought the phone at RRP) is 1956-1849= $107

        $107/24 is $4 a month for a mobile plan….
(when I did the math's above I considered the RRP of the 256Gb S23+, so it was a little off)
I was up for a new phone anyway, and this was a great deal, especially considering the pre-order double storage, and i walked out with it that day.

  • Hey guys I saw the deal running in HN with Optus till march 6th
    S23 $0 Upfront
When you purchase the NEW Samsung Galaxy 23 5G 128 and connect to OPTUS 69 SIM Only Plan for 24 months.

If I want to cancel will it cost same $800 for the termination? I missed the previous deal

    • That’s essentially this deal?

      • The previous deal includes free memory upgrade for S23 and ultra also GC. This deal doesn't have those perks. I am happy to pay 800 for S23 without the GC.

        • The previous deal includes free memory upgrade for S23

          Oh okay fair

FYI, Only a few select people got the GC, most didn't

I am happy to pay 800 for S23

          The ETC is about $828

  • does anyone have problems with getting 5G on telstra network?

    • No sometimes to fast to handle…yesterday i got 830mbps down and 230 up…

  • +1

got my bill for $824.66 for cancelling, no idea how they got to that calculation but happy with the price

  • Does anybody else's bill say it is called a $69 gift card voice plan?
