  • Great prices!

Great price. Any good price for Melbourne to Paris? Thanks.

  • +8

And so the dynamic pricing of the Qantas juggernaut adjusts for demand falling off a cliff

That and more capacity from other carriers

Am predicting this will be followed up by other deals to other locations (Europe from September onwards for instance)and the return of double status / double FF points (for domestic by about April …)

    • Hoping ur right and Japan will be on the list :P

      • +1

Japan is going be a bad for a bit. Qantas themselves were the biggest supply of seats direct to Japan and they're not bringing back the same supply anytime soon.

ANA and JAL are both regularly cheaper right now and adding more capacity earlier than Qantas is.

        • +1

Yeah, still remember paid $700 for JAL to Tokyo in 2018. Price we won't see anymore possibly.

  • +16

Nice prices. When I read the title, I honestly thought I was reading the news. Qantas return… Qantas flights returning due to technical issue, engine issue, smoke in cabin issue, paperwork issue..

  • Hi OP, looks like no direct flight from MEL to SFO? There is one stop at LA?

    • Via Sydney actually for most flights

      • Thanks, can we book MEL to SFO and return from LA to MEL for that price?

        • Not for the same price, but it will be pretty close to it. Try the multi city option when searching.

        • I haven't travelled in last few years to US however, I always tried to make sure my return is via SFO because LA would have those extra-long queues for security that would even go outside the airport.

          Is it still the same?

  • +1

Pfff Qantas charges same amount or more to fly to nz , jetstar dna no thanks .

  • Title says Brisbane, Brisbane, Sydney. I assume one is meant to be Melbourne?

    • Thanks mate. Have corrected it!

    • -3

      Hahahaha. Good call

    • +4

      Odd.

    • +2

Better food? Good joke right there.

Safer, no traffic? Yeah, you can achieve the same thing by sitting in your basement.

      • Really you cant tell the difference between LA traffic and say the south Coast of NSW ?

Lol how does the Australian countryside have better food than Los Angeles and San Francisco, two of the most multicultural cities in the world.

Let me know how your trip to Alice goes.

  • +3

good luck with that flying Qantas

    • +5

yeah just wear a red hat

  • +1

    Sadge. None from Jun-Jul

    • I booked departing mid june returning mid july through Qantas for a lot cheaper than has been the case recently (i.e. ~1400 return)

Watch out for the feces and drug needles on the footpath etc.

  • @OP, Do the sale prices ever apply to Flex? These are under 'sale' and have a reschedule/cancellation fee. Perfect for travelers with fixed dates/plans though. Worth noting that Premium Economy look to be on sale too.

    • Unfortunately no, it's the discount fares (i.e. red deals) that seem to go on sale usually.

  • would you be better off buying the tickets straight from Qantas for $1299?
or is their customer service horrible either way

    • that is what I did. In my experience easier to make modifications, seat selections etc. YMMV

    • +3

Much better off. Never use agents unless it's a very significant saving. You'll get slogged with massive fees and delays if you need to modify your booking at all.

      • i made a booking direct with aerolineas argentinas and wished i'd booked through an agent. they were absolutely the worst to deal with.

        • In most cases though the agents, especially the smaller ones, just deal with the airline through the same channels anyway. Only difference being that they charge you to do it.

If cost is no expense, there might be some premium agents out there that actually provide a useful service like you're talking about. But they aren't the ones offering fares below the airlines.

For those cheap ones - it's always worth checking if the airlines has a price match. Qantas will price match any agent IIRC.

        • That’s because it’s aerolineas argentinas.

          • @[Deactivated]: not a lot of choice for domestic flights in argentina? lesson learned though

  • Looking to go to Atlanta in June, this may work out well.

    • Use Los Angeles as your hub. You can find a cheap return fare to Atlanta for $200-250.

  • Good prices.. as long as you don't value quality of service, reliability or ever seeing your luggage again.

  • Good deal. I paid $1300 for BNE-SFO on United, travelling in June.

    • That's pretty good! Direct flight during summer months.

  • +1

Don't forget to use your $50 voucher if they're still valid

Air Canada is matching the price! Got amazing deal:

    Brisbane - Vancouver
    +
    Vancouver - San Francisco
    +
    Los Angeles - Brisbane

    3 flights for only $1300

    • Amazingly, Air Canada scores lower than Qantas on Airline Quality - Skytrax reviews and TripAdvisor

      • can confirm Air Canada is very average (and I'm from Canada)

  • +2

I've got to say, after some trips to the US during 2022, their inflation has killed the value that you used to get in the US (shopping, restaurants, groceries, hotels, etc). A couple of years ago I can remember being like a kid in a candy shop. Now it feels more like JV in a Harvey Norman store. Especially more so when the AUD is sub 0.75.

  • Any tips for someone wanting to go from Sydney to Texas and/or Mexico and/or Miami?
    Thx

If you are going in Summer remember to take a hat but if going in winter remember your jacket

  • Hi trying to book from Melb to San Fran for June and Qantas allows a stopover for $100. When I use the MultiCity search the airfare is so much more expensive with stopover in Grand Rapids or Honolulu. Does anyone know how I go about adding a stopover for $100? Thanks
