Steam deck play possible for anyone crazy enough to try on such a small screen (yes, I'm one of you)

I was just going to comment the same thing. Haha

Apparently there are people who play StarCraft on SD… now that’s just next level unless they’re only doing easy campaign mode

Yeah I'm not sure I'm that crazy haha

      • Keen for Diablo 4 running on SD in the future!

        • I am pumped for d4… was tempted to try and scratch the itch with d2 resurrected but I spent wayyyy to many hours in that game and expansions in my high school years…

She canna zoom any more, captain. She's gonna blow.

  • I've never played Age of Empires before, but I'd like to buy a copy for me, and one for my son so we can play it together in an 'alliance' against other players online. AOE II and AOE III are both about $8 at the moment. Which one should we by? There are suggestions on the net that II is better than III (or has a much bigger online user base?) … can someone in the know advise me on whether to get II, or III please.

I've not tried III, but AoE II Definitive Edition is a fantastic game and remaster. Much more beloved and bigger player base to my understanding. Can definitely recommend II.

Both are pretty good, 2 is more balanced and competitive, 3 good if you like a more casual game and bit more variety

      You'll have fun with either.
II requires more skill to boom and has a better competitive scene, and III offers "card decks" which allow a quicker build.
Looking forward to when my kids are old enough to have a go on AOE :)

Thank you kindly you three for your rapid and informative responses. I guess we'll go with AOEII to start with, because it sounds like that is a good starting/entry point into the game.

    • AOE2 still has a larger online user base.
AOE3 online is on its last leg, the servers were taken over by bots in recent months and they added cd-key validation after all these years.

  • Rofl, GTX 980 recommended for a game from 2005. The original game required a Pentium 4 and 256MB RAM.

    • Played fine on a GT1030 for me

  • Platinum ranking on the protonDB site. So it will run under Linux without issues too.

  • Is there anyway to play these Steam versions (AOE1 & 2) on Win98 ? I have all 4 in steam and don't want to buy used CD versions again :/
