Gotta say the LG 77" CS Self Lit OLED + SN4 for $4011.65 is a screaming bargain, tempted to upgrade my 65" oled

    • We got the 77” cs and it’s crackin set. Which 65 you upgrading from?

      • +9

Cx but still require a divorce as part of upgrade cost😂

    • +4

Same, i got a 65 c1 thats great but just not big enough for the room its in.

      • How big is room?

        • The couch is almost 5m from TV. In my old lounge I was 3m away and it was fine.

    • Failing to understand how paying a 20% premium on top of paying for twice the panel area is a bargain compared to the 55" and 65" models, and am curious what kind of living room arrangement people have that they think it's a good idea.

      • +1

Doesn’t seem hard. Pushing limits costs money.
And large modern living areas make big screens a simple decision. Our large dining/kitchen/lounge has 80”, which is viewable anywhere. Don’t need to pile-around the screen like olden days.

        • We're talking 3m - 3.5m from screen for 20/10 vision, 2m for 20/15 vision (average), so it's got nothing to do with large living areas, but giving yourself an absurd field of view if you're remotely sensitive to motion sickness.

          That's a cinema only arrangement.

          • @jasswolf: Seems we're talking different things. Or just two differing (while still valid) preferences.
For some, bigger is always better. And some like to challenge norms, push boundaries.

Personally, I was going to get a ultra short throw projector for the main TV… but the price was absurd for me.

            • @Ulysses31: It's a valid choice, I'm just pointing people are going to get motion sickness from fast-paced movement on screen. It's in the ballpark of 50 degrees field of view.

              • @jasswolf: We have different sized lounges, it appears.

                • @Ulysses31: 3 metres is the point at which a 77" 4K TV stops being worth it, so I'd be making a different argument.

                  • @jasswolf: I really don't understand how limited your view is, and I know how well big screens work in modern open-space living. So I'll see myself out.

                    • @Ulysses31: On your way out, feel free to read about THX and IMAX field of view recommendations, as well as the mathematics behind angular resolution targets. Cheers!

Once you go 70+ you don't go back. Simples

  • I guess c&c of a 77" is a pain. Can people confirm or share how they mange to transport it from the shop to home by themselves?

    • +6

Would probably need a trailer, wagon or ute.

      • Semi trailer

        • Aircraft carrier minimum.

    • +6

Would need trailer, van or ute big enough to take the box. I wouldnt take an oled out of the box and put in the back seat to transport like the old days, too thin and easy to damage.

    • +3

The box is about 4 and half foot tall - try and get a van or trailer.

    • +7

Yes and must be transported vertically

    • +7

This is a two person job. Worth paying for delivery and installation if you don't have the right vehicle or extra set of hands

    • They must be transported upright: and it would not fit in a wagon or 4ED When I picked up a 65” from JB ; they opened the box up in front of me and I had to sign that there was no damage.

The screen is so thin on thes me units that if you lay the box down then the vibration from the road could crack it due to the weight on the glass.

  • Anyone ever had any luck with a post purchase partial refund from JB? I bought a CS the other day and paid more than this, thought I'd try my luck.

    • +3

I’ve was able to get a $600 refund on a TV. Their price protection policy states that you can have the difference refunded if purchased within 30-days. I bought mine 45 days previously but they still gave it to me (after I negotiated over the phone). Not sure how this one would work since it includes the soundbar but at the very least you can try to get some money back.

      • Excellent, can't hurt to give it a whirl.

Don't suppose you have a link to that page?

        • Call them on their support number. I did - got a hard "no" because >14 days has passed (25 ish days).

Went on Live Chat - they said "NO" too. haha !

          • @Bisah1342: the live chat and phone lines are mostly for sales only. If you head in store you might have some luck.

        • Yeah I went straight to giving them a ring since I knew I was already out of their policy period. I got directed to a store manager at a local store and she was able to sort it out for me.

          • @PriceSensitive: How long ago was this? Mine was done through insurance so I think I’m shit out of luck.

          • @PriceSensitive: Wow lucky! I asked and asked and still got a No. should I call the store manager ? Hahah

    • Its better to try, I Got $100 back on a TV and it dropped again and got $100 back again on the same TV, within a month.

    • Did you purchase the same bundle deal with soundbar or just the TV itself? I guess it would have to be the same bundle otherwise seems to be impossible to compare.

  • +2

Got the CS over the C2 because of the price difference during Boxing Day sales. Absolutely no regrets. It’s fantastic. Though I paid almost this much just for the TV! Oh well..

For those on the fence, the CS really is great. I game with an Xbox Series X and it’s perfect.

    • I didn't know the CS existed until after I purchased a C2 🤦‍♂️

If I had my time again, I'd buy the CS over the C2

      • Nah you did the right thing. The cs is basically the c1. LG didn't sell as many c1 units as they forecast so came up with the cs to offload any excess componentry. Its good value for an OLED but that's because the technology's a few years old

  • +1

Honestly if the price diff between the cs and c2 was maybe $1k you could justify the brighter panel, but when its approx $4k its a no brainer to get the cs. Ive had a c1 for 2 years and 95% of the time its fine for brightness. Really only when watching a movie during the day it can have a bit of a brightness issue, i just run vivid picture mode instead of cinema. For normal tv its fine all the time.

    • Even at $600 extra, the extra ~7% brightness isn’t worth it imo

  • I remember my partner running down the stairs, and suddenly the carrier was on he's own(then it started raining) and he said can you help me.

My partner grabbed the 65 inch TV in the box, and carried it up stairs.

The guy was asking if he needed help.

    I wonder if the 75inch TV's different.

    • -1

They shouldn't have let your partner carry it. They are liable for taking it out.

And two should have rocked up for big TV's.

I've been stuck waiting around for a 2nd driver to come while my dad and I chatted with a delivery driver for around an hour….

      • +1

Really, so two drivers supposed to carry it, well it was raining and he was impatient and wanted it setup and ready.

Now that I think about it, it wasn't even signed, but we did have to online transcript.

Well unless the TV's a lounge room suite I guess waitings Better.

  • This or the Samsung S95B? Similar price point

    • Samsung S95B is 65" and this one is 77"..

      • Apologies - I was looking at the 65” for both LG and Samsung - similar price

        • -3

Samsung technically better. LG the safer option.

Alot of issues online with Samsung quality.

          • +6

@scuderiarmani: No Dolby Vision on any Samsung TV's. My next TV will be an LG.

            • @anarky: No 90% rec.2020 on LG TVs, your next TV will look relatively dull.

HDR10 gets reprocessed by all these TVs to look competitive enough, and there are devices for transcoding DV to either highly optimised HDR10 or - for more money - HDR10+ anyway.

          • +1

            @scuderiarmani: LG is technically better.

        • i had a 65" s95b on order but cancelled it after seeing reports of people getting bent ones out of the box. even the ones in JB and good guys had significant bends in them. for me that was enough to not buy the samsung. the build quality of the LG's are so much better (in my opinion)

our CS is in a relatively bright room and its more than bright enough. but realistically, it all depends on what you're coming from. if you've got a reasonably new LED which is bright, the oled might not be as bright. best thing to do is look up the brightness of your old tv and compare to the s95b

the peak brightness of our old set was 90 nits, the peak brightness of the CS is over 700 nits (in hdr)

    • -1

Look into the installation of the S95B. It has a thin panel design with metal framing and can warp if you put too much weight through it as you remove from the box, attach the stand and move it into your viewing position.

If you're confident on that side of things, everything firmware wise is in the process of getting fixed. The 2023 model (S95C) will be perceptually 10% brighter in peak highlights, with slightly better diffusion of direct light sources, and slightly better image processing.

It's all about the panel install.

      • Do you think S95C will be at the current price level of S95B after a year?

        • +1

I think it will be cheaper. Oh and it will display blacks within an image slightly better as well (i.e. colour bleed in high contrast images).

    • I recommend going in and having a look at both. I prefer the S95B and the Samsung interface. It is a risk though, lots of issues posted online around the place. When there is a good enough special on the 65" I'll probably just bite the bullet and go either LG/Samsung.

      • Ended up buying an S95B this afternoon price matched at my local good guys. $2425 - ($2419 gc @ 3% shopback) = $2352.43. I got the B450 sound bar with it as part of the bundle but thinking I might sell that.

    • Good luck getting a straight S95B lol

      https://youtu.be/IUiHzNWWLrs

  • In only seeing $4160.75 for the 77" bundle. Am I missing something? Total with the soundbar is $4457

    • +1

Did you add the AFTERHOURSJAN code at checkout?

  • What's the difference in OLED vs Self-Lit OLED ?

    • One has its own power source.

    • +3

No difference. Both are organic light-emitting diode.

  • +2

Thats a lot of DTS in the soundbars product title when the TV can't do even do basic core DTS passthrough or decode any DTS formats. Biggest complaint about my C1, I just wanna get DTS from PS / XBox via the TV optical out to my Logitech 5.1…. Can only get core AC3

  • Can your Logitech do DTS?

    • ye, z-5500

I have a little hdmi optical out extractor I used to use, but it limits the VRR and top resolution / color scapes…

It sucks that nothing else is competing in that space, There is the Logitech z906, but still only optical and basic dts ac3 playback. All other 5.1 audio kits seems to be analogue only.

  • If you’re able to sell the soundbar you get new to recoup all/most of its bundled discounted price , you’re at some all time lows across the LG oled models…. Even better if you’ve got discounted gift cards to pay with

  • 92MD3YYI5YMOVA spend $500 get $50 off code if anyone wants to use

  • The final price for CS 55 is really good but for anyone like me only after the TV, the bundle deal may not be the best…have to see it for lower price and there are many brand new LG soundbars showing up at FB market

  • What if someone purchased the bundle deal and trying to return the soundbar as change of mind for a partial refund? Would jbhifi accept that? Just trying to avoid the hassle of selling a brand new soundbar at FB market as there are so many selling the same model already lol otherwise May have to wait for another better deal for the TV itself. Thanks

    • +1

Do it and see how you go.

  • Good to see tv prices coming down and/or decent tv deals popping up.

  • Does anyone know which brands of TV allow you to use an external box such as Apple tv without the TV's OS overlaying it in the first 10 seconds or so after switching the TV on? I have a Samsung M7 monitor and not being able to see what's under the overlay in the top third of the screen when it wakes from sleep drives me up the wall. My old 2015 model Sony TV with Android TV keeps the OS entirely out of the way unless I hit the home button on the remote and I'd hate to go backwards on this when I upgrade like it did with my monitor upgrade.

  • ebay plus sales a couple months back were a lot better

    • why do you say that? The good guys deal on ebay was slightly higher than this

      • Worked out to be $2200 delivered for the 65inch back then.

  • +1

Wish they had 83” on this variant :(
