Good time to stock up on tapes too…

Got some iron-on ones for $6 last week at Woolies.

    • are they on sale though

      • +1

yes, they were about half price, but only the iron on ones…

next month is when you often find these on sale after the kids start school.

Get this instead; it has buttons for formatting, and a QWERTY keyboard

I have the one in this post and it's a bit annoying to use, but I don't use it much so I put up with it.

    • same here, its good stupid thing is it takes 6 x AAA

      • +2

I remember using 6x AA to play Sonic on my Game Gear for an hour

stupid thing is it takes 6 x AAA

The one in this deal takes 4 x AA batteries that last for years…

Got 1 of these instead, on your recommendation.

It does look a little neater.

      Cheers.

I kinda want to buy one too, and give away this model that has looked the same for about 20 years

The consumables for Labelmanager (D1 tape) is more expensive then Letratags though…

      Another option would be
      https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/dymo-letra…
Thats using the cheaper Letratags and QWERTY keyboard

      • Yes, I bought one of those for a friend to label his tool chests. I'll edit my comment

Edit: shit I can't edit. Everyone upvote this guy

While these things are convenient and useful I do hate them as by default the print margin is exceptional large so every time when printed a large portion of tapes will be wasted

I do double line, with the second smallest font size. But depends on what you're labelling. Last time I used mine it was for spices, so e.g. "KASHMIRI CHILLI" would only be about 3cm, rather than I dunno, ~7cm on a single line.

These are great for labelling power bricks, as they generally only have generic labelling, and you lose track of what device they're for.

    • +1

      Oh that's a great idea!

    • I've managed to label a few before I misplaced mine…. Recently found it again and have labeled my watch parts box…. :)

    • It's a real life saver when you forget what's what.

    • Yours are editing the label in the app and then Bluetooth it to the label printer, one app review find that you can't use your printer offline, the app uploads to their China server and then the printer prints your server copy. I will avoid this.

Be careful with this brand, they have used DRM to lock the label machines to only work with their brand of tape/refills - which are expensive.

Similar to printers only letting you use their brand of ink and charging heaps for it.

    Ref: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzSDJRC0F6c

And then they try to hide it on Amazon by taking an old listing with good reviews and sneakily changing the item description to the new DRM crippled model.

    • Would you know if the LabelManager 160 using the D1 tapes are affected or just the model referenced in the video?

These are so great for $25. I purchase generic tape overseas in bulk.

Edit: if the comment above is correct, then that's a shame. These are great, but I would never pay the brand tape price.

    • Where did you buy the tape? I want to buy more if i can get a cheaper alternative,

    • any cheap tape link?

      • AliExpress….or the generic tape on Amazon when it's on a deal.

  • These are also good if you're The Spy Next Door and need to get onto the roof to reprogram a satellite dish

  • Can someone post a photo of the print quality of any of these cheap letratag models? I was going to get the 100T model at officeworks but ended up getting the 200B (Bluetooth model) for $32.

But the print quality is pretty average in my opinion, just need something to compare it too before i decide if I should return it.

  • Price is up a little bit from about 2 weeks ago. I picked one up from Officeworks for about $23 i think.

Big W and Woolies are also selling these for $25, so you could get a price beat at officeworks and get it for around $23 still
