    • Thanks mod jv. Did you buy a Chopper?

    How much are they normally?

  • I thought most households required much larger units. What is the use for this?

    • +3

      Studio and 1 bedroom apartments.

I know my old 1 bed apartment had a 50l hot water heater taking up an entire corner cabinet in the kitchen.

Yup - Also had a friend with the same. There is a use case for them. 50L is plenty for a one bedder. They're convenient because can fit under the sink and were cheap compared to the alternatives. Generally terrible efficiency beause the insulation on them is minimal plus with such a small volume it's already less efficient at maintaining thermal mass. They do heat quite quickly so my friend used to turn it on before having a shower and washing the dishes then turned it off after.

Edit - might have to temper my comment regarding efficiency. My friend had an old school straight electric unit. Looks like there are newer heat pump type units. The OPs picture does not make it clear what kind of unit this is.

    • Backup. If you had, say, a gas storage heater, you could install one of these inline with it, and if there's ever a problem with it you have a backup option.
Or if you have solar, water heating is a good place to dump excess power rather than sell it to the grid for 7c

In either case there are better options, but sometimes a cheap quick fix is the way to go until you figure that out

      That 1 star review………

    • +4

Weird that they're selling bikes as well as hot water systems

      • +5

just depends on which shipping container was easier to break open

        • +3

Or which truck it fell off…….

    • Business is Quantum Energy Technologies

They must offer discrete value on their products.

  • +2

Do not use these dirt cheap units indoor. Best for outdoor use only but under cover

    • So is this brand no good?

      • +1

Stick to a brand that is renowned for quality and warranty for anything like this inside the house…

Is the hot water system quantum powered?
