Nice deal, I’d jump on it if it was an e27, but you can get adapters pretty cheap if you’re ok with that
Also $19 at Officeworks
And a video comparing the different filament bulbs (for size ref)

You’re welcome
I am new to this. You need the HUE bridge for $69 otherwise it doesn’t work, right?
Needs the bridge to integrate with Homekit, otherwise will work fine with the Hue app.
So I can run it without bridge just using the app right?
The Hue Bridge is not required to use Philips Hue smart lighting. Most Philips Hue smart lights are Bluetooth-enabled (look for the symbol on the packaging) and can be controlled with the Philips Hue Bluetooth app without a Hue Bridge — but a Bluetooth setup does come with some limitations.
@sumyungguy: Thanks I can live with that. Ordered!
@Thrifty Dan: If you decide you want a bridge later, there are plenty around on the secondhand market as lots of Hue users have picked up extras in starter kits. I got mine from Cashies for $19, then got another for a friend in a Get Started pack.
@Thrifty Dan: As rockbottomconfirms, as its bluetooth, you get the added bonus of being able to control the colour temperature and brightness via the app to suit your environment
Some bulbs have Bluetooth, but otherwise you need a Bridge.
It’ll still work as a light without anything though!
Its got a bluetooth badge on the box, so i’d presume you can control it without the hub?
That’s a good question. I don’t really want to buy the $69 hub to run the $19 globe…
Who would buy the hub for only one globe lol
@nikoris: Who would only buy one hue bulb lol
@timliu1996: Truth
@nikoris: I have integrated LEDs in the whole house and just regular bulbs in the guest toilet and a gangway. I would be interested to have one globe in gangway. So for me the hub is waste.
@Thrifty Dan: You can use it as a standard bulb. Its whether you need the app functionality
@nikoris: Because you're new to home automation and are patiently acquiring devices when they're cheap.
@sumyungguy: So not only one bulb. Thats my point, if you're planning to get more it's a no-brainner
Nope. Bluetooth or hue hub
Do these bulbs last? RRP is crazy for these
Expected life span

I don't know about this particular model, but I've got 29 Hue lights. Some of them are 9 or 10 years old and I've never had one fail.
That’s good to know, thanks for the info
I have had some for around 4 years still as bright as day I bought them
Says b22 and e27
Which do we think it is?
Also what lumens and wattage? Cant spot that although maybe it’s my eyes…7W - equivalent to 40W incandescent
edit: it's B22 - ie. standard bayonet. The E27 is still $75.90
These are more a decorative bulbs then a bright bulb
It’s never the E27 on sale…
Found this
Brightness (Lumens)
550
Watts
7
Wattage equivalent
40Does this work if you have a brightness slide on your wall ?
No longer on special
What do you mean? I just placed an Amazon order for two at $19 each, delivery Saturday.
It was oos but seems like it’s back in stock
Got 2x…
watched some vids of how huge it is…
cancelled order.Phew… love it when I pull back from the brink of a stupid purchase in the nick of time lol
Looks great for thoose that actually need a bulb that big though.
Yeah oops, mine arrived & it's a lot taller than I expected!
I've swapped it into a tall bedside lamp to replace a standard Hue Ambience, it looks & works fine there…
Haha, yeah, same. I now have 5 of them
If you need e27 IKEA have https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/tradfri-led-bulb-e27-250-lumen-…
these work perfectly with the hue hub. Just need to plug into a socket close to the hub for first time set up. I have set up at front door light for the decorative look
To anyone hoping to use this with home-assistant / zigbee, I added a pull request a few weeks ago for this specific model which was not yet supported.
https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee-herdsman-converters/pull/54…
Thanks, got one :)
