    Because the commission is higher on new connections than on upgrades.

    The $0 on $59 cap is a standard offer for existing customers, the free accessories are just a franchise store trying to get connects.

    usually new customers will incur greater commissions for the store, whereas existing customers don't.

    nevertheless, $10 is very marginal.

  not attracted. online deal come with 2months free access plus 12mths double data quota, it work out the same.

  I got my iphone 4s 16 G for $49 a month no handset repayment when renewing my contract with Vodafone over the phone a month ago - I was with three btw. The call quality on Vodafone is shocking though. Strongly recommend to avoid them if you live/work in Melbourne SE

    I am with three as well, they called me couple of days ago to move to Vodafone, I would love that iPhone 4S 16G on $49 cap. Any advise please..

      I told them virgin is doing 4s 16 g for 49 a month. And their reputation is a lot better than Vodafone. The rep checked virgin website then said he would match that offer but it must be confirmed by his supervisor. Took him 5 min then he got back and informed me that everything is good to go.

      Pls note that I do regret taking that offer as their coverage is completely rubbish

  Better to buy the phone outright for around $630 then connect to other cheaper plans from other operator.

  The reason for the $10 extra for new connections is because they don't receive the Free on $59 offer, this is our way of trying to be as fair as we can.
