    Can cancel anytime?

Use a single use disposable card and there's no need to remember about cancelling.

      • What service do you use

        • +2

Revolut. I only have $10 in the account and it's only used for disposable cards but I've found it very handy.

Before I started using Revolut I used prepaid Visa/Mastercards from the supermarket. Discounted ones of course. I then used the remaining balance to pay towards the council rates.

@mysterytal: Cancelling sub will prompt a 30 days extension= 120 days of free sub. 😁👍

          • @mysterytal: Guess again, revolut can and will still charge a blocked and cancelled card. So make sure the amount in revolut is less than what you expect to be charged if you don't cancel.
Revolut just tried to charge $20 again on my temporary card that was blocked and cancelled 5 months ago.

Tried to find what type of movies they have and found this: https://mubi.com/showing

Yeah admittedly not the best deal if you have children or are one yourself.

Hopefully Disney+ will offer 3 months for zero dollars at some point and we can complain about that as well.

If by "pretentious" you're trying to say acclaimed, meaningful, experimental - then yes.

And it would be great if you watched some.

      • +6

People on this site like to voice a lot of concern about 'pretentious' things.

Best to read it how they mean it:
"I don't understand these things and want to bring people back to my level by insulting stuff"

I have been to several MIFF showings (to accompany friends). Acclaimed doesn't mean much, but if it makes you feel "woke" and informed to watch paint dry, I won't stop you

          Case in point ☝️

No need to make harsh judgements because people experience art in different ways to you.

I watch art films as I enjoy seeing different people's perspective on life. I got bored with 'entertainment' movies years ago and have found a lot of catharsis and comfort in many art films.

Sometimes you'll actually enjoy such films less if you come into them with strong ideas about what you expect from cinema. Quiet that part of your brain and you might get something out of it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edit: also helps if you can connect with your own emotional landscape a bit more rather than running from difficult feelings like sadness, anxiety, grief, etc. The best art films tend to depict these emotions quite subtly. If you can recognise what a director is going for and allow it to take its course, you'll understand.
You won't reach this state if you label things you don't understand 'boring' or 'woke' for no reason.

So if you're eg. not interested in science and went to some science fair, you'd be like "I'm not qualified, but all of this seem pretentious and woke to me!", right?

People study these things. You don't appreciate such things, it's OK, but arbitrarily blanket-calling them pretentious only shows your ignorance.

  • it said 3 months but after I made an account it gave me 2, not complaining, just weird, still free streaming is still free

  • I came here to find out what Mubi is.
Now that I know, I can "curate" that (to me) useless knowledge and get on with other things.

Like leaving this (to me) useless comment
