please ask the same question to yourself. You have provided nothing to go on, no skills, no hobbies, no interests, no likes or dislikes. All you are going to get with such a poorly written request is joke suggestions.

At least I think OP is being honest about this part…

I did this for a couple years, but they stopped hiring directly back in 2018 :/

Concentrix might be hiring though. I can neither confirm or deny that Concentrix is a call centre contractor for certain large tech companies 😏
From memory Concentrix went full remote during covid and let employees work from home. I once worked for them and it wasn't the best job. Would only recommend it if you're desperate and don't want to be unemployed.

      • +3

My partner worked for a three-letter IT company through them. Was pretty relentless pace, so maybe not for OP.

This is very likely the Apple position, Brisbane based and not advertising work from home. Might be good for some people wanting to get into IT but best not to stick around for too long, the call center environment will make you sad.

        • +3

I left a fruit company support job with them and wanted to come back so applied via a very similar sounding ad. Turned out to be a Centrelink role which will make you very, very sad. Note the “government client”. Lasted the five weeks training and one heartbreaking phone call.

What happened to your job offer to work at Services Australia last month? Are you on JobSeeker??

    • +6

What did he unpublish? This is such a good question. 🍿

      • +2

To be, or not to be, is a good question too. But I agree with you, what was unpublished?

      • +11

Some sort of rant about the previous poster having too much time on their hands to look up his post history….they must be on Centrelink benefit too etc etc..

Graphic design. Honestly the tafe diploma is a bit rough, but it'll teach you everything you need to know to earn median wage from home. And it's FREE thanks to the government, in SA anyway.

    • +2

Soon to be replaced by AI though…

      • +8

I know AI already comes up with better logos than I do, so you're probably right.

        • +11

Skip the tafe diploma and feed customer requests into Dalle. Surely people are doing this already!

      • +1

Lol. I can't wait for the copyright laws being tweaked.

Feeding other people's work into an AI platform and using it to generate "original" works is still stealing, but many people are happy to pay some thief on fiver for a knock off anyway.

        • Artists have been doing a version of this since cave painting days though, it's why art can be classified into styles. AI has just made it infinitely easier.

    • +9

I am a graphic designer, and graphic design is NOT easy. I have over 5+ years experience, worked for mcdonalds, dare, blizzard and was a freelancer. The worst part is freelancing, putting yourself out there in fivver, airtasking, going B2B, advertising yourself……. it all costs money and there's little revenue to be made.

Why hire someone in Australia when someone overseas such as India and Philippines can do a much better and faster job than any Aussie can.

Went back to being employed and even then, graphic design isn't a high paying job, even at a senior role. The money is in UX/UI design.

      • +1

Spot on. There are people on Fiverr and Etsy who are ready to do your job for as little as $10.

      • So what you're saying is you should go back into full time work, subcontract out all your work on fiverr and then start to "collect" full time jobs. Juggle 2-3 full times, subbie out all the work and just attend meetings, email your contractors and hope for the best?

Junior sales development roles in IT

    • +1

The sales guys I know are always on the road or at client sites, would be very few that are 100% office based let alone WFH

      • In SaaS you work exclusively from the office or you wfh. Usually a 40-60 split. Unless you're a high level director or a high earning sales executive that for some reason needs to show a demo in person. Contracting is all done online. Do the sales guy you know work for large tech companies?

        • what training is needed for this?
does have to be comp sci degree?

          • +3

@Ti-au: Depends on the company. Those that are down to earth do not care about the degree and care more about attitude and abilities. It's a JUNIOR role, the expectations for experience and skills are not high, take a look at the Required Qualifications in this example.

We have folks in sales dev roles who came from pro and semi-pro sports - how much further can this be from an IT degree ;) . A high school graduate with some customer facing experience could do this, all training you need for this type of job is provided. And everything is done from home/beach/holiday house/wherever you have internet connection.

Note, sales development IS NOT sales. Sales development responsible for processing incoming leads (or, for more advanced folks, generating new leads), qualifying them and passing qualified leads to sales who will engage with the customer and work on the deal. Unlike sales, sales devs are not on commission and usually compensated on the number of qualified leads passed to sales. If you ever contacted a major company with any purchasing related enquiry and had to answer 5-10 questions about your company, budget, timelines, requirements - that was a sales dev talking to you.
