As far as I can tell, the only difference from the 637L is the increased depth.

Available on Bunnings online Marketplace. This seems to be a much better deal compared to other retailers ($500 - $1,000 less for each model). Is there an issue buying from Bunnings online MarketPlace? JB won't price match as the item is not sold by Bunnings directly.

Samsung’s fridge and washing machine are just ok, LG is way better ! Even LG’s TV is better too

    • +2

Evidence? As I have an opposite experience

      • -3

Personal experience. Got Samsung fridge, washing machine and air con. Now using lg TV n fridge. LG is way better. Esp. Fridge or any compressor

    • Agree with you on fridge and washing machine
      can't comment on TV thou.

      • Samsung customer service from my experience with owning a faulty fridge was terrible :(

    • +8

Yes dealing with their support is terrible.
We've had 2 Samsung fridge/freezers replaced in the past year.

Their support is OS somewhere. They wanted the serial number, but couldn't tell me where it was located. I gave them a "s/n#" but apparently that was wrong. Basically blue me off and said to call back when i found it. Then Someone apparently from Samsung called back (hidden number) and wanted me to install an app which had full access to files, location, contacts, internet, camera, etc to help them troubleshoot a "noisy compressor". They got a bit offended when I declined. Told me to take a 600l fridge back to the retailer.

I found an Aussie repair centre who told me exactly where the serial number was so i called back and they logged a job.

A repairman came out, said the compressor was faulty and the fridge needed replacing. About 4 weeks later a new fridge arrived. I unboxed it and it was damaged (the back corner of the fridge had been dropped and it was rocking (i could fit 10+ cards underneath the back wheel. So I called them up again and they said i needed to take it up with their courier company. WTF?

Another few hours of phone calls and threats to goto consumer affairs they agreed to replace it.

Why they they work, they're good. But sorry is questionable in my experience.

Correct. The 2 Samsung fridges I had in the past both failed within 2 years through a serious design flaw in the ice maker area which freezes over then defrosts and leaks into the electronics. First time lost a fridge full of food as it died while we were away for the weekend. The second time I got a full refund after it was fixed once and failed within 6 months. The tech said that the design flaw has been there for generations and they replace failing parts but the problem recurs within 6-18 months

Avoid Samsung Fridges. I wasted a lot of time relying on Samsung Technician to repair my Samsung fridge only to find that the compressor was dying. That was after multiple visits. It should have been easy for them to tell that it was the compressor but no, they were trying to sell me parts for fixing the fridge instead.

        • I bought the 651L Family Hub French Door Refrigerator (SRF651BFH3) in 2018 and i had no issues.

      • Same here with Samsung fridge. But my fridge lasted 10 years… so I have an LG one now. We are at a time, that if a fridge last 10 years… its considered good SMFH

    • Had multiple LG products die never again

    • I really can't wait for the LG tv that we have to die so I can buy a different brand as the kids keep slapping the tv so it's a matter of time.

  • I already get fridge dementia and forget what I was going to get. This thing will make me forget I am in the kitchen and start looking at NSFW stuff….

Is there an issue buying from Bunnings online MarketPlace?

Of course. It's not sold by bunnings directly but a 3rd party seller. "electro saver"
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/electro+saver_s2345

They claim they started selling since 2007.
It's 2023 now and they've still not yet set up their website correctly.
    https://theelectrosaver.com/

It's looks the same as a random seller on ebay.

I only buy my white goods from trusted retailers.

PS. I also prefer LG or Mitsubishi than Samsung when it comes to fridges.

    • So they don't have a website and they sell through other markets like eBay and Bunnings.
      What's the problem exactly ?

I'm assuming they're a legit business and Samsung will cover the warranty on a fridge bought this way.

      • +2

        So who are they?

There's no details on the business. You have to buy before you get a Contact Us details.

I can't find their ABN either.

The software on the screen of the fridge is a bit pointless, as not really integrated with Samsung mobile apps - such as memo, to do list, etc. I was hoping to do a to do list and sync with phone and tick off on either device - but don't think it is possible. So just using it for the weather, time, day, calendar and pics.

If wanting to sync grocery list to phone then need to use 'Whisk' app.

just stick a tablet on the fridge, problem solved. LOL

      • I think this is really not a stupid idea.
A re purposed old tablet would give you choice of shopping / note app and can be updated as required.

What happens to the fridges built in screen when Samsung drops support.

  • +1

5K for a Samsung fridge lol

    • +4

But they taped a $100 tablet to the front so it is from the future. And they will drop software updates/support in a few years and then just buy a new fridge lol.

  • +5

Cheaper getting a non display fridge and gluing an iPad on the door.

  • are they discounted or something

  • +5

Just don't buy Samsung fridge. Everybody i know who has one including me have had problems. Don't buy it to save you from all the headaches.

    • Samsung fridges have serious design flaws. Mine is leaking water from the freezer defrost into the fridge through the light section, seems a common issue with their top mount fridges.
Called their customer service who couldn't help me as it just gone out of warranty period but they did offer me a discount voucher to buy a new Samsung fridge. After the poor experience with this one, no thanks!

  • +1

These seem cool but always hear about them failing in some way… What is the reliable option for a smart fridge then, sticking a tablet on the front?

  • Samsung has rubbish quality controls on their products. No love from me. Stay away from Samsung.

  • +3

had this fridge it gave me and my family problems for 18 months. got a call from Samsung last week saying we're going to refund you in full. thanks to the office of fair trading. I think were going to go for the LG smartview fridge this time does anyone have any other recommendations?

  • +1

Hopefully these come with built in ads just like my Samsung TV.

  • +1

Buyer beware of Samsung fridges, read reviews on productreviews.com.au

If you're going to drop that much money on a fridge, skip the nice to haves like the screens on a fridge door, and spend the money on a better brand like Electrolux or Mitsubishi.

  • Family hub? That’s the dinner table, sorry Samsung. This is a fridge. It cools my food. The iPad on the front is a bonus.

  • If your looking for a big fridge 800L+, your only option is Samsung with a screen or LG with the knock knock.

  • If you're considering spending this amount on a fridge then I would recommend either a Mitsubishi or Hitachi.

I have the 700l Mitsubishi equivalent and its absolutely amazing, best fridge I've ever owned. Made in Japan and 5 year warranty.

    • What model do you have?

      • Sorry for the late reply, been away.

        I have - MR-WX700C-BR-A

        • Oh thank you. How long have you owned it for, and is it noisy?

          • @Trishool: 6 months, quiet as a mouse.

Only noise is from the ice failing from the automatic trays as they rotate. This only happens once or twice a day though and lasts a second each time.

Tbh, the automatic ice feature was not something I really thought about when I bought it but its actually such a great feature, use it all the time and most importantly as its not plumbed there is less chance of anything failing or leaking!

            • @Del Boy: Thanks for such a detailed response, it's great to know about how quiet it is as we have an open plan lounge and kitchen area, so watching TV at night while our current 430L Westinghouse fridge kicks up the cooling gets quite noisy and frustrating, even though it's been working flawlessly for over 13 years.

We're now looking for a new fridge that's bigger, quieter, reliable and modern. I've been looking at 630-700L Westinghouse, Electrolux, Mitsubishi and Hitachi, with Mitsubishi and Hitachi as my main preference.

  • Just sharing- may not be applicable to this fridge. Went in to HN recently and one of the fridges had a large sign saying ‘this fridge will not fit through a standard door’.

  • Anyone know what happened to this product? Non of the Samsung fridges are available on the Bunning website anymore and cant find anywhere else with the same compatible price. If Electro Saver is reading my comment please let me know if there is any possible way I can buy the 637 L of this fridge from you.
