I was ooking to upgrade my Switch Micro SD from a 256GB and came across this card. It seems to be a similar price to the EVO cards, and comes with a nicer USB reader, and seems to be slightly faster speeds.

Are they using B52 to deliver?

  • +3

    Buy 2 get 5% off.
Maybe get 2x 256gb instead of 1 512gb if unit capacity doesnt matter for you.
And you got 2 readers too.

    • +3

I actually did that with the 512GB cards, forgot to include it in the title, thanks for the reminder.

      I wonder if theyre genuine.

Im scared to get micro sd cards from ebay, its literally a gamble for nearly all of them as to whether they are really the rated capacity / genuine.

I dont have the time or energy to test cards and check that they can read all 512gb out of 512gb but the amount of cards that cannot off ebay is shocking…

Flashing bios/firmware on sd cards is so easy now, amazon has a bunch of fake micro sd cards being promoted in the top.

I wouldn’t risk it. I bought a 512GB Sandisk from https://www.ebay.com.au/str/etradeonlineaustralia and that turned out to be fake. I thought I’d be safe given they had 100% feedback and were taking part in an eBay Plus promo.

Unfortunately I started experiencing writing problems and H2testw confirmed the card was only 64GB. I left negative feedback but they refunded the order which revokes the feedback so they’ve still got a clean record.

If using eBay I’d stick to using reputable sellers or retailer’s eBay stores (e.g. Bing Lee).

      • I bought a SD card from ebay and paid with paypal, turns out it was a fake andebay took down the item and his store etc. He ended up sending me a chinese Coin instead of the SD card as it weighed and took the same size in the post. Because an item was sent and could be traced, Paypal and Ebay refused to refund me (even though Ebay had removed the seller and the item from their store, they still insisted i send back the item (with tracking etc) before i get a refund. Sending back the item was going to cost me pretty much the same price as what i paid for it in the first place.

Pro plus is even faster than extreme pro

    • Hmph…. I got the Sandisk Extreme (1TB and 512GB),
and although I'm yet to use them, I didn't know they were slower than the Samsung Pro Plus.

      • +10

Samsung pro plus>Samsung pro=Sandisk extreme pro>Sandisk extreme plus> Sandisk extreme

        • +1

          ah…now, you tell me !

I wish I knew this before buying my Sandisks.

          • +3

@whyisave: Long as they quick enough for your particular application then you’re ok!

        • That's all Marketing. The Samsung Pro Plus is equivalent to Sandisk Extreme. Both cards advertised same Write/Read speeds.

          https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/compare/SanDisk_Extreme_vs_Sa…

          • @pork chop: Looks like sandisk belong to western digital now…

            • @edw0000000: Nothing wrong with Western Digital.

As for attaining maximum read and write speed for these high-speed UHS-I microSD cards, you need the appropriate card readers. If you use one of Sandisk USB 3 card readers (can't remember which models), you can get higher read and write speeds from the Extreme Pro than the Samsung Pro Plus.

From what I have seen unless you are just transferring files using the proprietary Samsung USB card reader it seems to be no faster than a normal Evo plus ~85-90MB/s write) in uhs Ii card readers and devices e.g. cameras.

  • Got 2x256, thanks

  • +3

    Too exp.
Wont matter for switch i think (the speed wise)
Just get others 512 when on sale.
I got mine like $49 each

    • what deal?

    • I saw a drop from 40MB/s to 16MB/s using a SanDisk card I had lying around. Probably won't make too much difference normally, but copying backups and saves to and from the laptop gets frustrating.

      • What model is that Sandisk card?

  • Anyone tried these in their dashcam. Dashcams and SD card compatibility always seems to be an issue

    • +3

use the Endurance line. not these.

      • You don't have to use the Endurance line. I've been using a Samsung EVO 256GB card on my dashcam for 3 years now with no issues.

        • +1

It's all relative. I also have EVO card used in my car dashcam for a few years without problem, but that does not mean it is as durable as the Samsung and Sandisk's Endurance range of cards.

          • @edfoo: That's true, depends if you want to take the risk or pay the premium. Also, I have yet to see an endurance 512GB card, do they even make them in that capacity?

From my experience, the EVO plus card and my Sandisk Ultra 256GB has been working very well in my dashcam, I alternate them whenever I want to take footage off the cards.

            • @techlead: @techlead Yeah, I'm with you, I have yet to see a 512GB model of the endurance line, I think they top out at 256GB.

              • @Devastator0: I received my 512GB EVO Plus, its working fine in my A129 Pro which is only rated to support a max of 256GB card.

The Samsung PRO Plus Full Size SD Card 256GB for $37.70 is also a good deal.

    • -1

Yeah, they go great with a switch

      • +1

not sure if you are joking but you cannot use full size SD card with switch, only microsd card

    • That's a completely different product with a different use case. MicroSD cards are usually used in dashcams and other small devices. Nintendo switch, expand phone memory. A full size SD card is not a substitute for those uses.
