Date/Time: 31st December 12:00am AEDT to 11:59pm AEDT
Cashback Cap: $25 Cap

GYB's Notes

  1. Bonus Cashback via the Westpac Lounge is calculated based on the Order Value, excluding any GST/Taxes, Delivery Fees, and after any promo or voucher code is applied.
  2. Please allow a few minutes of processing time before 11:59pm to ensure that the order processes in time to be eligible for the Cashback.
  3. Please wait for the full tracking window for the store (4 days for Chemist Warehouse, 7 days for eBay, 4 days for Amazon) to reach out about tracking troubles, as often the tracking can update in that period to reflect correctly.
  4. Cashback via the Westpac Lounge is only eligible on items that already have valid Cashback, meaning that 0% Categories/invalid coupon code use will not entitle you to Bonus Cashback.
  5. Gift cards can be used in tandem with your Westpac card for eBay and Amazon only, provided an eligible Westpac card is used for part of the purchase. Chemist Warehouse does not accept gift card as a partial payment when redeeming Cashback.

I have no money to spend :(

    • +7

Westpac have a fantastic stable of credit products that may suit your unique needs

  • +6

    I think I need a Westpac card =\

    • Can't here to say the same thing.

    • +11

Don't do it, I opened an ANZ account for the Cash Rewards bonus cashback and then they stopped offering bonus cashback a few weeks later. Unless you have other reasons to want a Westpac account don't get sucked in because as soon as they realise not many people are opening new accounts they'll stop offering bonus cashback. I give it a few months max.

      • +2

Get in before the budget runs out

    • -1

Thought I needed a Westpac card too. However on getting one, it failed to net me the eBay cashback last week. In fact the transaction hung in "still processing" for hours, until after the promotion period it said payment failed. This has been the same for several increased cashback promos over the year, regardless of the payment type or combination. So it screams clickbait scam, as any payment works any other time. I will link to a host of other members here its happened to aswell.

Like the last Westpac Amazon deal, the bonus 15% excludes 0% categories. To make it easier for everyone, these are the current 0% categories which are excluded for the Amazon 15% bonus:

    Pantry Food & Drinks
    Physical Books
    Video Games
    DVD & Blu-Ray
Physical Music (Includes CDs, Records, Cassette Tapes)
Beauty (Includes Haircare & Hair Styling, Makeup, Fragrances, Manicures)
Home (Includes Bed Bath, Decor, Storage & Organisation, Heaters, Fans, Vacuum Cleaners, Mattresses )
Home Improvement ( Includes Kitchen & Bath, Electrical, Smart Lights, Fans, Hardware )
    Pet Food & Supplies
Health, Household Products (Includes Laundry, Supplement, Cleaning Supplies)
Baby (Includes Strollers, Car Seats, Car Seats, Safety Equipment)
    Office Products
Electronics (Includes Bluetooth Speakers, Headphones, Speakers)
Alcohol (Includes Wine, Beer & Spirits, Pre-Mixed Drinks)
    Kitchen & Dining
    Toys (Includes Baby Toys)
    Software
Mobile Phones & Wearable Tech (Includes Smartwatches, Fitness Trackers, Dashcams, Tablets, Navigation)
Kindle e-reader, Kindle e-book, Kindle Accessories, Kindle Unlimited ( subscription )
    Video Games Consoles & Accessory

If you aren't sure what category an item is in on Amazon. Use the desktop site and when you click on your item the category is bolded in the top left corner. (Example)

    • Because i dont have desktop… could some plz confirm with me and if the Joby Gorillapod (tripods) are included in this cashback deal….??🥺

    • +3

      Basically all the good categories

    • On Amazon the electric shavers and toothbrush are under Health, Household & Personal Care. It doesn't show which category of the three it's under specifically. If it's under personal care then it's eligible, otherwise it's illegible. Anyway to find out for certain?

  • $25 cap per store?

    • +6

Correct, and per purchase. Just remember to exit the store and click through to it from ShopBack in between purchases if shopping at the same store more than to ensure each shopping trip tracks.

      • so it is not per transaction this time? Total per store can gain maximum $25 cashback, right?

        • +9

Sorry I mis-spoke, it's per purchase/per transaction, not limited by store. You can redeem the cap multiple times per store, across all three store. These late nights are doing a number on my brain seemingly lol.

      • do St George cards ( owned by Westpac) count for this promotion?

  • +1

Big thanks to you and your colleagues for all the deals this year. Happy new year OP

  • Might be a few drunk purchases near midnight

  • Happy new year GYB, thanks for all you do for the community :)

  • Any none Westpac lounge offer on Amazon coming up soon?

  • @gotyourback Can I use gift cards like the previous promotion? say I used $100 with gift card and $100 with Westpac, will it track it as 15% of $200 or 15% of $100? I believe this is what you said in Point 1. Sorry just wanted to confirm the above.

    • +2

Gift cards can be used in tandem with your Westpac card for eBay and Amazon only, provided an eligible Westpac card is used for part of the purchase. Chemist Warehouse does not accept gift card as a partial payment when redeeming Cashback.

  • +1

So to clarify…..$140, use 139 gift card amount and then $1 for credit card….would I get the full % on the 140 or only on the $1?

    • +1

Would like that clarified too, thinking the same thing. Does Partial gift card payment and westpac card qualify for full paid amount cash back

      • +2

Clarified in previous deal(s), for example:

        "Store Rep gotyourback on 28/12/2022 - 11:19

@czd: Hey mates, partial payment using gift card is fine for Amazon, so long as an eligible linked Westpac card is used for part of the purchase. The full reported transaction amount will be what the Bonus is based on, not just the portion paid for using your Westpac card. This is only the case for eBay and Amazon, where gift cards are stackable, other merchants will have their own terms (some merchants will invalidate all Cashback where a gift card is used even partially, others will deduct the amount paid for by gift card from the transaction amount), but for Amazon you're all good."

        • Thanks :)

  • Any further challenges coming for the last day of 2k22 or is it safe to just spend now?

    • +2

If you’re not up to the challenge just say so

      • +1

        Nooo gimme all you got

  • +3

Only applicable to categories with currently available Cashback.

This is the worst part of these deals. Most of the items in my watch list are in 0% categories.

    • +3

That’s why it’s called a challenge. If it was easy, everybody would be doing it

      • +1

It's not hard to find something in the relevant category and buy it, but if rather spend money on something I need now or soon rather than something way into the future or something I'd like to have but don't really need.

        • -1

Better to buy something you don’t want and don’t need. More options that way

      • that's why I am thinking, its just another miss

    • Same here! everything I want to purchase is in a 0% category… arghh

  • +6

Still waiting for the missing CW 10%CB (Westpac lounge) +$5 Bonus ($50spend) boxing day transactions to be tracked. So will give this a miss.

  • +1

Does purchase Chemist warehouse giftcard in chemist warehouse website eligible for cashback?

    • Don't think so?

  • Do you think that having all these Westpac-exclusive ShopBack offers really make heaps of people sign up for a Westpac card?

Or do they just make you a bit bitter and resentful of this Westpac and ShopBack partnership?

    Curious to know

    • -1

All the worthy people are already with Westpac. They only accept the most enlightened to join their customer base

      • +2

Cut the crap! It isn't that hard to sign up.

        • Sounds like a great advertising slogan. Westpac welcomes anyone with a pulse

  • Another question please, seeing as though this will work with gift cards, will this also stack with the $3 for any spend over $20 bonus?

    Example scenario:

Eg Transaction, partial paid with gift card (bought using $5 for $50 promo) and westpac card= 15% total cash back up to $25 …

Would this transaction also qualify for the $3 bonus on any purchase challenge?

    • Shop using the same linked Westpac card and earn that sweet Cashback

Gift cards can be used in tandem with your Westpac card for eBay and Amazon only, provided an eligible Westpac card is used for part of the purchase. Chemist Warehouse does not accept gift card as a partial payment when redeeming Cashback.

      • Asking about stacking with the other challenge, not just gift card

        • Yeah fine stack those up, no issues there, but only with eBay and Amazon.

          • @gotyourback: Would like to see Amazon allow ability to nominate amount paid by gift card, as if the account is already loaded cannot make use of the Westpac offer.

    • They generally do stack, which is what I'm planning to do as well. Let's wait for @gotyourback to confirm

  • +1

Can I stack it with voucher code?

    • No. You would get no Westpac cashback if you use a coupon:
      - As of 28th October 2019, Any purchases made with the use of Coupon / Voucher Codes are not eligible for Cashback (unless otherwise stated) and will track at $0.00

      SOURCE: https://www.shopback.com.au/ebay-australia

      • lol didn't see this on the mobile app when placed the order ToT

  • +1

"Gift cards can be used in tandem with your Westpac card for eBay and Amazon only, provided an eligible Westpac card is used for part of the purchase"

So will be eligible for the $25 cap CB if spending 400 in Amazon GC and a few dollars with Westpac card?

  • +1

@gotyourback I have eligible Westpac card linked to my shopback. If I buy something from Chemist Warehouse for more than $50 and pay using paypal which is linked to my Westpac card, would I be eligible for 15% bonus cash back? I am asking because I don't have access to the physical card right now and the only option to use the card is using paypal.

    • Want to know answer too. Following

    • +4

Go to your Westpac app, navigate to your card, card settings, et voila! Show digital card and you can get your card details for online shopping.

    • +1

Hey mate, unfortunately not, Westpac terms on our website state:

Purchases made using online payment methods such as PayPal, where ShopBack is not able to identify whether an eligible card was used at the merchant checkout, will not qualify for Westpac bonus Cashback (even where an eligible card is linked e.g. to the PayPal account).

      • Thank you GYB for all the hard work you and the team have done for us this year to save us $$! Here’s to an even better year ahead mate have a blessed one 🙏😬🥂

  • Do these stack with the dell 20% off?

  • Is subscribe and save on Amazon exclude from this bonus?

  • -1

@gotyourback, confirming it seems then that you could purchase gift cards at Chemist Warehouse and Amazon (I.e. directly at those stores rather than via the shopback app) and these gift card purchases would be eligible for the 15% cash back?

    • Negative I'm afraid, both retailers exclude purchases of gift cards on their website as part of their terms with us.

      • Understood. Thank you for confirming. Much appreciated.

  • +1

Will it be safer to buy from ebay as all ebay categories > 0%?

    • +1

eBay still has some invalid sub-categories. Example below.

      On ShopBack:
Home & Garden (Existing eBay Customers) - Alcohol & Food, Appliances, Baby, Pet Supplies
      1.00%

But on what I want to buy (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/333896478533), I see these sub-categories which aren't on ShopBack:

Home & Garden > Cleaning & Housekeeping > Laundry Supplies > Detergents, Softeners & Stain Removers

      Better check everything before buying!

      • How to check which item is on which category on eBay? Which category will nitrile glove be in?

        • +1

This is for desktop. Go to the actual listing of the item then check below the search bar. Click on any "…" to see categories that are truncated.

  • @gotyourback - taking the opportunity to say thanks for posting all the deals. Has been a fun exercise every day hunting for those little bonuses. Looking back at December I've accumulated about $250 worth of cashback from Shopback from all the little extra $$ plus the Westpac deals. Now, I could focus the $000s I've spent to accumulate that but hey, glass half full. :)

Anyways, happy new year mate. See you in 2023.

  • Is it possible to split a transaction between Gift card and Card on amazon if I already have a gift card balance on account thats bigger than the purchase?

Could not find an option to split it.

    • I think unfortunately not, as this qn has been asked a few times in different posts and nobody has had solution to make that work. So I guess ppl like us who’s piled $$ in amazon balance will be the loser for not double dipping if balance>checkout amount. 😅

    • You can’t vary the amount you use from your gift card balance but you can uncheck it from the Payment method

    • I checked last night too. No such luck if the amount in your gift balance is more than the item your buying ☹️
Can only do it if the balance is less than the item

  • My order tracked fine with Westpac bonus within minutes using SB website. Wife used the chrome extension, didn't get any tracking updates. Ordered same time

    • I ordered using the app through Amazon at about 1am this morning. No tracking yet either

      • both now tracked. chem warehouse.

  • Chemist Warehouse currently have 1/2 price boxing day sale on. Worth a look for the stuff you might buy normaly. Compares well with Supermarket 1/2 price specials on the items that we buy regularly.

    • only trouble is, a lot of the items are either only in stock in certain stores, so can only do click and collect. I have lots of items I want to get, but some would have to be delivered and others can't be….so either just the $20 spend or the $50 for free shipping is a pain to navigate.

  • @gotyourback

Q: I have eligible Westpac card linked to my shopback. If I buy something from Chemist Warehouse via desktop/web gui , add to cart, do I have to choose/enter that same Westpac CC at checkout is this correct?
I mean will I be eligible for 15% Bonus Cashback ?

    • +2

      Yep, use the same card

Shop using the same linked Westpac card and earn that sweet Cashback

  • Is cashBack eligible for Optus simcard purchased on eBay?

  • Hey GYB. If I mistakenly ordered something and then cancelled and reordered the same item or something else, is my cashback void noting I've still used the same WP card?

    • Doesn’t matter, as the upsize is capped at $25 per transaction. Just make sure you have a separate click through each time you make a new purchase :)

it's per purchase/per transaction, not limited by store. You can redeem the cap multiple times per store, across all three store.

  • $183.33?

  • +1

bought $200 of ebay gift cards, paid $200 on gift card and $2 on my westpac card. my debit card was charged but ebay came back a few hours later saying it was declined. now my gift cards are invalid and can’t be used until they refund them, however long that takes.

    oof 😥

    • +1

This often happens, and only during promos. See my comment above.

      • Hey! I had a similar issue which never ever happens when you pay by PayPal.

eBay support simply brushed it off as a glitch when paying by card.
"We are working on fixing it, sir. Is there anything else I can help you with?"

        No such issue with Amazon.

    • Just out of curiosity, did your Westpac balance fall down to 0 after the $2 was debited by eBay?

      • nope, had a little under $50 in my savings account.

  • hi @gotyourback and others:

Q: I want to buy this projector from Amazon, but they have the $75 coupon provided, can I still apply the coupon and qualify for the 15% bonus cashback? Thanks.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/YABER-Projector-Supported-Mirrorin…

Note from the shopback website says:
*ONLY use Promo Code/Coupons listed by ShopBack. Any un-listed codes may result in loss of Cashback.
*Cashback ineligible for purchases with the use of any Codes entered manually in the 'Promo Code' Field

    • +1

      in GYB notes

      1. Bonus Cashback via the Westpac Lounge is calculated based on the Order Value, excluding any GST/Taxes, Delivery Fees, and after any promo or voucher code is applied.
      • Thanks - but it also says in point 4 "invalid coupon code use will not entitle you to Bonus Cashback". So I am a bit confused.

        1. Cashback via the Westpac Lounge is only eligible on items that already have valid Cashback, meaning that 0% Categories/invalid coupon code use will not entitle you to Bonus Cashback.
        • Ah yes you're right, that projector has a Coupon code not a Promo code or voucher

          will let @gotyouback clarify

  • Would this work if I applied my ebay plus monthly voucher code? Last voucher code I need to use. Searching for an eBay plus item assuming when applying the code the 15% cashback would still work?

  • Hi @gotyourback, On the last time promo, we were able to use the $20 off codes with the Westpac card and it tracked both usual and westpac. Likewise, for this promo SNSDEC code be used for this purchase? I am looking at around $165 purchase which is close to $25, so just wanted to be sure. It's not listed on the ShopBack website page though but wanted to confirm. Point 1 and Point 4(invalid coupon code) are a bit confusing.

    • Hey mate, unapproved promo codes weren't stackable on eBay for this bonus, I'll say so explicitly if that's the case. I'm referring to approved promo codes (i.e, listed on our website as an approved coupon) in my points.

  • +1

Did anyone's eBay tracking come through? All my items in 2 orders were tracked but nowhere near to 15% bonus. I have total of 10 tracked cashback for 5 items but the bonus tracked at $0.52, $1.05, $10.5 values which are not 15%. One of my order which I was hoping to track is just probably the $10.5 one but it should be $23.25 :( Not sure why it's tracking a lower amount.
