RRP is $299 per speaker in the US. Not sure where they get their "$2,290 RRP" from.

Add Australia Tax to the US RRP.
And will get $2290, or any inflated figure for that matter

    • could you provide a link for that?

edit: nevermind, found it (it's actually $165 on Amazon, but only 1 available):
      http://www.amazon.com/Boston-Acoustics-Horizon-HS450-Midnigh…

      • yep and they dont delivery to us anyway.. would love to pay US prices for most stuff.. normally shipping kills savings on large speakers, but amazon.de has good prices for Canton speakers and some AV receivers with fair shipping prices.

        • There's an eBay seller who will send to Australia. Total price in AUD is around $290.

        • Link ? dont worry i see them but that is per speaker so not cheaper and you wont get warranty.

It's NOT a saving of $1700, the real price compared to a bs RRP is not a "saving". And the "RRP" is several hundred less than these clowns claim. There's an AU seller on EBay that has these for $699 shipped. Therefore the real saving here is about 16%, not 74%. Even less if you can't pickup due to shipping. Hope no one bought this thinking they got the deal of the century.

Neg for fake RRP and misleading discount calculations.

    • As with most HIFi gear the RRP is over inflated but these did have a street price of about $1500. They are discontinued line so you only see clearance prices… These did not sell well because they a ugly but to do sound OK.

I say this is still the cheapest price in OZ.

Get rid of all your references to rrps, saving and discount percentages and ill get rid of my neg. Otherwise people are thinking they are purchasing $2300 speakers when in fact they're worth nothing near that amount.

        • I didnt make up the RRP so im not removing it… neg the deal if you want i could not care less… I do think this is a good deal for a good pair of speakers.

  • As noted by others, misrepresented savings/normal street prices!

  • I used to live in US for few years and I personally know how big the difference of price in buying anything in Australia. In 2008 I bought a Sony Bravia 52 inch LCD when in US for $1500. Couple of months later I moved here and saw the exact same TV at HarveyNorman displayed with a big price tag showing AU$ 4999. I couldn't believe my eyes. That was when Aus$ almost went to parity with US$. The exchange rate for AUD to USD was 99.97 when I came here.

    • Thats what happens when you have 14x more people living in a country. Companies have more buying power, buy in bigger bulk, and sell products cheaper.

  • A review of the 5.1 system from AVHUB (btw the price listed for the 5.1 is $3396 in the review.)

We did quite a bit of listening to the front stereo pair, with our home theatre receiver switched to >‘Pure Direct’ to ensure that the signal wasn’t being damaged by any kind of processing. And the results >were simply excellent. The frequency balance was good, with a clearly extended range.

But where these speakers stood out was with imaging. Somehow they managed to create both within and >outside their bounds the superb illusion of tangible instruments. These acoustic phantoms were not only >on the level of the speakers, but above them as well. A voice hovered consistently over the top of the >speakers while the acoustic guitar emerged from between them.

  • Don't get too excited with this deal. The speakers were released back in 2008 and is an eol product with a street price of USD200.

But as always with speakers, ALWAYS audition them before purchasing them.
