    No thanks, nahnah nah nahnahnahnah

Looks like a good card, aorus

  • +2

Look how tall that brick is..

  • +25

Sub-$1,000 in AUD, then we can talk.

    • +23

Can't believe this is downvoted. The 3080 was $1150 during the chip shortage, the 4080 being double the price is absurd.

      • +5

From my perspective, 4080 needs to be less than 3080 ( not only because of cheaper die shrink, but because NVIDIA owe the gamers a big apology after hoarding all the 3080s for the miners - which ultimately led to widespread scalping, then backfired on NVIDIA and led to this mess).

        • +3

I wish you were right but NVIDIA are a publicly listed company who answer to shareholders. Shareholders like profits not gamers.

      • +9

Maybe at the very beginning. At the peak, 3080 was over 2k. But I agree that we need to hold out such that these absurd prices don't become the new "normal".

      • +3

        yeah nah, i paid $2299 back in mid 2021 for a 3080Ti.

not that i'm complaining either as i've had plenty of use out of it since being at home most of the time during the covid restrictions.

        • +1

          I paid sub $1,000 for a 2080 super, been 3 years now.

          • +1

@Rifulreinhardt: the 1080 was even cheaper prior to the 2000 series.

Now that was a cracker of a buy back in 2016/17

        • +1

          paid $2700 for a suprim x 3080ti 🤡

      • +1

Pretty sure the RTX 2080 Ti was over $2k in its time if I'm not mistaken???

        • 2080ti was a flagship card with nothing above it in the product stack. The 4090 flagship is 3k.

          • @Canberralad92: My point being, price to performance, the 2080 Ti was off the charts.

Makes the 4080 at today's price look like a bargain

The 3080 was $1150 during the chip shortage

Maybe for a very short period around launch with very limited stock. It was over $2000 for the majority of the shortage
Not that I’m defending these prices but it was never really obtainable for RRP except for a lucky few

        • +1

Yeah it was ple sold 3080 at rrp, very short period during launch. Soon they realized they should charge a lot more

      • The 3080 was $1150

More like $2500+. I agree with your comment, these prices are crazy.

  • +6

NVDA down 7% during last session, Jacket Man sweating big time

    • -1

amd gpu share also went down

  • +7

Makes me happy seeing people say not to stupidly priced cards gives me some hope of seeing reasonable prices eventually

    • +3

But 6 sold in the last 24 hrs, as of 3:15 pm 28/12

      • 13 now, dunno if prices are gonna drop that much if people are still buying this fast

    • the 7900xt's sell somewhat quickly so not really

    • HODL right

  • need to be ebay plus member?

  • +7

Needs to rot on shelves for a good bit longer to teach these scum a lesson, but who knows if there will be enough people desperate enough to pay these prices and enable this trash to continue indefinitely. Too many apologists for poor behaviour from giant multinationals these days, if you're not a shareholder or an employee of these companies there is 0 reason to defend what they are doing

  • +5

80 series cards need to be below 1K AUD

    • +8

Just wait 3-4 years, should be able to pick one up for sub-$1k then.

    • +2

you can buy 2 year old 3080 10GB LHR used for $900 in gumtree now.

but you will never get 4080 brand new under 1k. same with 5080, 6080, and so on forever.

its the reality, time to wake up.

  • +1

This is a shockingly bad price lol. The 3080 was much less than that at launch at wasnt that far off the performance of the much more expensive 3090. This time around the 80 card is much more cut down , its closer to what the 70 card should of been.the 4090 is so far ahead its ridiculous. I'd only be tempted if it was under $1,600 for that exact same model and thats still over priced imo. But much more reasonable than what nvdia wants, truly terrible prices from nvidia and amd this gen

  • Somehow Gigabyte is allergic to me. Multiple faults from Gigabyte products including GPU that I used to experience.

  • +1

LOL, how is that a bargain… I just bought an used 6800xt for 690 AUD of ebay and I thought it's a bit much. These prices will stay if people keep buying this overpriced stock.

  • It's funny when you mention prices and wanting them to come down how people get all defensive and attack you as if your saying something that goes against there best interests like who would argue that having the current gen cards cheaper isn't a good thing ?

Sure if you have that kind of money and you donn't care if your getting a good deal knock yourself out but these prices are ridiculous and just continue to go up if people just stopped for a moment and stopped paying absurd prices for the cards the prices inevitably have to go down

Nvidia has been recording drops in gpu sales across the board because of this exact reason that and pc market shrinking cause of insane prices it will get to the point where they either stop price gouging consumers or they just stop selling in that market

    • +1

your constant spamming on 3080 threads this year absolutely resulted in nothing. the price still remains strong > $1299 and will be so until all the brand new 3080 stocks are gone.

you can still buy a 2 year old used 3080 10gb lhr or non-lhr cards under 1k, but not brand new.

you should start your own GPU company and make a better one than nvidia, I'll buy one of your 80 series card for $500 since that is what you valued it at.
