    4TB…That’s a lot of PS5 games! 😲

      3?

    • 4TB…That’s a lot of PS5 games! 😲

Yep, you can put both of them on there!

May as well buy a second PS5 at that price

  • Which tier is it? Ta

    • From high margin table, tier 1X, and for some reason, according to that table, one should only get a PCIe gen 4 SSD for PS5.

Based on LTT table, the SSD is tier A (tier 2), PCIe gen 4 x4 (Upper High End). The top tier is now tier S (Ultra High End), first gen PCIe gen 5 x4 SSDs.

    Terrible value.

The 2TB is the sweet spot.

      It is the price of 2 * 2TB + $70.

Far from terrible value of you are looking for a large and fast SSD.

    • With gamepass on pc being a total failure and forcing installs to the system drive, my next pc nvme will be 4tb and my current 2tb will go into the ps5. Point is, 2tb is useless to me.

      • Well, it is a PC so it is quite flexible. I install OS on every single one of my SSDs on my PC. It does require a bit of planning though (so that they boot independently, rather than the dumb choose which boot drive rubbish Microsoft boot menu).

With Microsoft's DirectStorage not quite the norm yet, it would be easy to just get a 4TB or 8TB cheap SSDs. Also, for me, I feel SSDs are consumables (HDDs are too).

At the moment, SSD makers know people want 4TB or more so they have no intention to run specials.

        • Tbh the boot menu didn't even work with an nvme. I installed a second OS ok. When I removed that drive I had to reinstall Windows on the nvme too.

I'd prefer if nvme were easier to swap physically

          • @justtoreply: Yeah, I don't understand why BIOS cannot temporary disable NVMe slots. I am guessing it is PCIe based.
SATA, you can hide drives using the BIOS.

Is there something wrong with your PC? Game Pass has allowed installation to custom directories for nearly all games for quite a while now.

        • It never respects it. It forces c:\ no matter what i put in the settings. It seems a common issue

          • +1

@justtoreply: You could use junction points, or Steam Mover if you need a GUI for it. But you shouldn't have to mess around with that stuff.

      • +1

That’s weird, it installs to my secondary hard drive without any issue.

      • +1

No probs with mine installing games on other drives for me…. guessing somethings borked on your PC

  • For those that need 4tb this is great value, especially considering the speed

    • this isn't faster than 2tb tho?

      even slower

Why do people buy a PS5 for a crappy experience then pay to upgrade its storage for an even crappier experience? If you are going to spend money, and you want to upgrade, and you enjoy playing games then buy a PC.

    • +3

Why do people assume people who own PS5 don't own a decent PC? Also, have people forgotten that with OZB deals, one could have gotten a PS5 on launch day by paying $50-$100 pre-order, trade in PS4 Pro and some PS4 games + spare controller?

You find me a deal that allows me to trade in a 4 years old PC and pay $100 for the upgrade and I get a GPU that's PS5 equivalent.

I have PCs (both Intel and AMD), PS5, Series X, Macs (both Intel and Apple Silicon).

I personally wouldn't get this particular SSD for PS5. For SN850X, it goes to one of my PCs.

Do you own a hardware store? Just curious.

And there's the PC master race guy.

Thanks, was waiting for a 4tb deal. Will swap out my secondary 980 pro 1tb. 1tb just isnt enough for a game drive these days.
