Have one of these and thought other's may benefit from a tough quality large laptop with USB-C (mine has Thunderbolt, but this is not guaranteed and was not mentioned in the listing, it was an option not a standard offering on the latitude series) comes with a 250gb NMVE and with a small hack SSD's that only fill out a small portion of the casing can be fitted as well, you will need to buy the ribbon to make the connection, there are Youtubes on how to do this, paired with the Dell 15a/17a USB-C port replicators makes one them decently expandable, the port replicator charges the machine, no more 2 PSU like USB 3 required.

Mine is 3 yrs old! n… Show me the money? (post better deals!)
If you bought a 6th Gen CPU 3 years ago, you got ripped off 3 years ago - it happens, we all get stung sometimes and CPU models are a bit esoteric for people who aren't dealing with computers a lot.
For better deals, give this a try:
https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=i5+8250u&_…
For that price you can get a 7 or 8th gen tho
Definitely get an 8th gen for increased core count and full Win 11 support.
Given arguably minimal performance improvements between the 8th and 11th gens, they are the sweet spot as they are only just starting to enter end of lease in quantity.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/255871370531 $349 for Dell Latitude 7490 14 inch i5-8350U 8/16GB RAM 512GB SSD Win 11
Good price. Just no touchscreen, if that matters.
I personally don't use the touchscreen. Unless by accident
yes, it's a personal thing. I'm a mouse guy, even on a laptop. Some people really like touch, so worth pointing out that the 7490 comes in both styles. The touch version also supports a stylus, which my eldest wanted for art.
@bargaino: Which stylus do you use with the 7490?
My Microsoft Surface pen definitely doesn’t work. And I don’t want to pay top dollar for the (probably limited) use I might get from it.@DirtySteve: Checking, My mistake. It is only the 2-in-1 models that support stylus.
14" screen, show us something with the same size screen as the one in the post?~
That's out of stock now. Anything similar?
Not much of a deal here when 8th gen i5 laptops are going the same price, sometimes cheaper
fork up a little bit more for at least 8 gen cpu
This one is expensive and also has horrible screen, most likely a TN one. Isn’t worth it even $100 cheaper.
yea nah…….
Quality laptops with 8th Gen i5 CPU's were advertised here just a few weeks ago, and will quickly become more common as the 8th Gen CPU fleets reach their depreciation limits and get auctioned off for salvage.
For a 6th Gen CPU - a computer which is six years old already - this is a terrible deal at this price.
