how to make war with neighbours 101

      • +1

You may need to get your bbq checked if it's producing that much smoke

    • Or buy a fan to make the wind more efficient lol.

Yea tried the 'wind' principle unsuccessfully a few times now. Not only is it difficult enough to get the right angle bending over, but there's a real risk of a sub-combustion, and the family complained about some 'odd' taste with their BBQ dinner.

My outdoor area includes a Weber, a secondhand Jarrah outdoor setting and an outdoor couch arrangement.

All of that combined was less than this outdoor rangehood.

If you want to cook in a kitchen cook in your house. I never understood or saw the value in outdoor kitchens.

    Flame away.

We cook lots of fish, meats etc. Its nicer to do so outside if we can to avoid having lingering scents indoors. Indoor rangehoods are good but outdoors, as @spock identifies, has the added bonus of wind.

Plus outdoor cooking makes the neighbours jealous.

That being said, I won't be adding a rangehood to my outdoor setup.

make the joneses jelly haha, love that.

yeah definitely outdoor cooking helps with not gassing the house out with strong smelling spices and such. I know through experience that indian food, for example, tends to coat the home and leaves a smell which you can't get out. but concur that a rangehood for an outdoor cooking area is kinda odd… a pedestal fan would probably suffice if you didn't have wind ahaha

        boujiee tho!

        • It makes perfect sense if you have a kitchen that is in a covered alfresco area. Year round BBQ, out of the sun and rain.

          • @greennick: You could buy a full gazebo and another outdoor kitchen setup for 2k

            • +1

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: 2k is a relatively low quality and small gazebo, with a cheap BBQ, it won't last 5 years. This ILVE stuff is beyond my budget, but it is very high quality stuff, I have seen 20 year old ones going strong.

It isn't for everyone and is beyond the budget of many, but the price here is certainly good in comparison to usual.

    • Filling our home with VOC's unnecessarily is just one benefit to cooking outdoors.

Grease, smells etc. why cook certain foods inside when you can keep those odours and health issues out of your home?

My entire kitchen has ILVE appliances due to building with Boutique Homes.

The ILVE Microwave door hinge broke.
    The ILVE dishwasher broke.
The ILVE concealed rangehood is making weird noises.

I would avoid ILVE. In my experience, it is certainly not quality.

  • Just buy a Robam range hood. $1800 roughly. It's so powerful honestly.

  • Are the Italians known for their superior range hood making abilities?
