With AM4 ITX motherboard prices experiencing hyperinflation, this is a decent option to build a sleek SFF/HTPC with those cheap 5600G and 5700G CPU's

You get the motherboard, case and 19V/120W power brick
You need to bring the CPU, cooler, SODIMM DDR4 sticks and storage

Edit - thanks to lukits01 If you need to fit a GPU, the DeskMeet X300 is also available for ~A$17 more

  • Your first few sentences are spot on, was gonna mention exactly that, perfect for HTPC with ryzen G series.
Anything more and the power adapter will have issues.

    • want a cheap NUC mini pc that comes with 6900HS radeon 680m rdna2

  • +3

There are no PCI-Express slots on this barebones kit, in case anyone is wondering. You'll essentially be building your own NUC mini PC. So make sure the processor you are installing has integrated graphics.

I got the Deskmeet for a little more

Fits 200mm GPU and uses desktop DDR4.

    • Good pickup, deal updated

  • Note that sleep does not work with 5000 series APU's on these. You can get around it under linux https://lorenz.brun.one/enabling-s3-sleep-on-x300/
Or you can just run a 2000 series APU.

    • Ah, so everyone's having this problem! Sleep worked with my Ryzen 3200G. It had me puzzled when they said the X300 chipset doesn't support S3, but it was working. It still worked after I upgraded to a 5600G, then suddenly it disappeared from the Power menu. I'm only offered power down and restart. Not only aren't I offered sleep, I'm not offered hibernate either.

The other problem I didn't expect was the configurable TDP. The BIOS offered me the ability to configure the 3200G down to 45W or 35W, but the CPU didn't support it, so it didn't work. I believe the 5600G does support 45W TDP, but, without updating the BIOS only the CPU, I'm not offered the setting in the BIOS to set the CPU to 35W. I was hoping to get better performance AND less power consumption with the 5600G, but the BIOS is not letting me.

  • Deal updated, this does come bundled with a heatsink and cooler
Max cooler height of 46mm means the stock Wraith Stealth with the AMD fan shroud removed may fit as that measures ~48mm

    • No, just removing the shroud doesn't make a Wraith fit. That only saves 2mm. But you can make it fit by removing the Wraith fan from its heatsink and cutting off the spacers that space it up 3mm from the top of the heatsink. Then it fits. And its certainly quieter, because its a bigger fan turning slower. What puzzles me is why they spaced it up those 3mm. Why would they do it unless there's a reason. If they hadn't done that they could have just supplied Wraiths minus the shroud, or told people to use the Wraith that came with their Ryzen and to remove the shroud themself, and saved them the cost.

What I'd recommend though to anyone is they investigate a 3rd-part fan fitted on top of the Wraith heatsink. And fitted upside down so instead of sucking air in through the side of the case and then blowing hot air onto the other components, it blows out through the side of the case.

      • +1

It does fit. No cutting required. Source: running one in mine right now.

        • Congratulations that yours fitted that easily. Mine didn't.

If it was always as easy as just removing the shroud, it makes you wonder why they didn't just supply shroudless Wraiths, or tell people to remove the shroud on the Wraith than came in the box with their Ryzen.

  • Whoa free shipping on the deskmeet if over $280…

  • Power brick is only 120W, any1 know if they'll be issues if I hook up a 3rd party power brick with more wattage for light gaming?

  • DESKMEET X300W/B/BB/BOX/US

Does the power supply on the US model support 240V?

    • Yes it supports 240V, though the Deskmeet can also take standard SFX PSU.

  • ive had a few of these, unfortunately with both i had horrible coil whine

  • $377-70!!!!!! I bought my Deskmini from Mwave for $249. They were still selling it for that price recently. But they don't seem to be selling it at all any longer. And PCcasegear says it has been discontinued.

AMD's documentation suggests it has walked away from the X300 chipset.

If you buy a Deskmini, are you buying end of life stock, and there'll be a new model with a lot newer chipset coming soon?

Other computer stores like JW are not saying "discontinued", they are saying "end of life". Its a dead parrot.

  • Also anyone thinking of getting this for a Plex server, if you’re not running a dedicated GPU, Intel is a better option as it uses quicksync on the Intel gpu which is way better than brute forcing on the cpu, less power, heat and noise.

So pretty much avoid for a Plex server.

  • Anyone knows if this is shipped with the lates bios update?

Saw in a Reddit thread that mentioned a bios update was needed to use a newer gen AM4 Ryzen, https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/rokq3v/comment/hq…

I'm planning to combo this with the 5700G, but don't have a spare older AM4 laying around in the case I need to update the bios.
