Looks like an all-time low for this machine
Not sure if there are a limited number, but for those that missed out on the BF / Prime day sales - buy first, think later !

It should be cromulent for your needs jv
Thanks Kevin
new word for my vocab. ta.
"the continental breakfast was perfectly cromulent"
@jv: "1990s: first used in the US animated television series The Simpsons ."
"Though 'cromulent' originated as a joke on The Simpsons, it's a perfectly cromulent candidate for future entry in the dictionary. The word cromulent ended up in the script courtesy of a showrunner's challenge to the writers."
@Carrian: Thanks, you reminded me that The Simpsons is the greatest TV show ever. Closely followed by Me Wantee!
No worries, glad I was able to embiggen your vocabulary.
@ChickenDinner123: surprised coming from someone who eats roast chicken for dinner and counting 123
It will embiggen the smallest coffee drinkers soul.
no. I got mine refunded after 2 months of use. ( Philips money back policy is that you have to use it for 30 days at least)
what was wrong with it?
Getting the setting right is pain in the butt and cleaning is even worse.
What was the problem?
Did you end up getting something else?
Yes delonghi mag s. Prefer it over this.
This reminds me of the old xkcd comic, no real context regarding any issues with this machine, just refunded.
Try google next time or doing your own due diligence.
@superbass: Thank you for sharing your very informative input in this thread once again.
What coffee beans did you use for the Philips?
I wouldn't bet on it being any good for the price.
FYI this has a manual steam wand, for those making milk based coffees. Excellent price.
has a manual steam wand
For online gaming?
No, for my robe and wizard's hat
Damn was so excited, as thought it was the fully auto one with milk too :(
Auto milk tastes rubbish
wait why's that? I thought they were the same, it's just auto milk does it for you…. automatically?
@Feeblely: There's an art to frothing milk in achieving the right foam ratio. Auto milk is too bubbly, it's not undrinkable but it's night and day difference. It's part of why coffee made by a barista tastes SO much better.
I have the 4300 and would recommend.
Only drawback is the brew unit and its compartment can be a little frustrating to clean.
Everything else works like a charm, great coffee.
Most parts can go into the dishwasher too.
Great coffee & fully auto don't really go together unless spending big $$$ imho. This seems like a good price for passable coffee though
I have a delonghi automatic coffee machine, and I've learned its never as automatic as you'd like, cleaning out the waste coffee, emptying the drip tray, cleaning the milk caffe and brew units. There is a lot of ongoing maintenance to keep it "automatic".
True, but trust me, the brew unit in Delonghis are quite a lot easier to clean compared to Philips/Saeco ones.
Takes me less than a minute to clean, maybe a bit more if I thoroughly clean the milk jug
the milk carafs in Philips LatteGo systems are dishwasher safe
Combine with ShopBack eBay cashback to get another $30 cashback
I couldnt fine cashback for ebay. are you sure its up?
thanks mate
But Big W online are big w**kers who cancel orders or take 2 weeks to post them out.
Pulled the trigger! Combined with ShopBack
Can a machine really be called fully auto if it still just has a steam wand?
No, it needs the part that makes espresso too
ಠ_ಠ
Yes, if you only drink non-milk based coffees lol.
I'm looking for the fully auto one (EP2231/40) to go on sale too but it's rarer:
I doubt what you are after but what about this for 244 and 100 cashback (144 after cashback)
16 pack capsules seem readily available
Why wouldn't you want a steam wand? Automated milk frothing is best left for crap coffee bought in servos.
I just want to wake up and press one button and have a latte. I always thought the results between auto and manual milk frothing to be similar as it's just frothing of the milk? But seems like I need to do more research.
Problem with auto milk is that with most of them you have to clean the mechanism including all the tubes every time you make a coffee. Pain in the arse. OK if its an office one getting flogged non-stop all day, just clean it at the end of the day, but painful if just the morning coffee. The servo style ones also have the milk stored in a refrigerated compartment, not happening with a small cheap home unit. My parents bought us a high end auto Delonghi for our wedding years ago, ended up returning it after 6 months after it spent more time at the service agent than at our home, went full manual and never looked back. The downside of standing there for 2 mins frothing is much better than the downside of cleaning an auto system.
@Hinee It says "Fully Automatic Espresso Machine" which is true.
In that range you really want the lattego version
Really poor machine. Makes watery coffee, is a pain to clean and the build is super cheap / plasticy and light. You can actually move pieces of it by putting pressure with one hand. Also it's not truly automatic because it's manual milk frothing. Series 4300 is the one you want.
Same brew group i think
Series 4300 is the one you want.
They cost >$900 though…
re: watery coffee. adjusting the settings won't make a difference on the philips machines?
I purchased this machine from bigw eBay may be 2 weeks ago for $370/380.. This make very Sick looking milk frothing and also espresso is always watery even when water label is selected minimum and grind setting is perfect. Looking to return under Philips 90 days money back guarantee. Just this morning got lecture from wife for buying this machine. She made clear she is not drinking another cup from this machine so be warned.
Having a good slap and tickle with the wife i see
By sick is that good or bad. Like this is sick 🤘 or ewwww this is sick 😫 🤢
I think he means that it looks like sick… so I don't blame his wife for not wanting to drink it
Ewwww this is sick….Milk frothing looks like strangely bubbly.!
Looks like come
Did it look like this? https://youtu.be/FVKCsTij1xM?t=75
That's a bit concerning :(
The video looks way better….I believe 3200 and 4200 have better milk frothing than 2200. This machine makes like soapy type of bubbles….while drinking coffee you noticed like foamy dirt in a coffee cup. Kills appetite for drinking coffee. It's doable but again espresso is watery too. I believe Breville express for $500 is better value than this one. At least they makes excellent espresso.
Have you gone through these steps?
https://www.philips.com.au/c-t/XC000004111/coffee-from-my-ph…
The price look like it's a run out deal. I might keep my eye on other retailers for this unit if the watery coffee problem is fixable.
@[Deactivated]: Yes Go ahead and buy ..it's back in stock!
BACK IN STOCK
Bought on las BF on Bigw eBay.
Used 4 bags of beans already. No watery coffee on mine. Weekly cleaning of brewing group is quite easier than others. I recommend this machine with this price.
How is yours milk frothing.?
This review is pretty spot on (for the upgraded model). Says It's good for ppl using pods and who don't know what actual coffee tastes like. You'll see the same ppl here praising it. If not it's a hard pass.
https://www.finder.com.au/philips-series-2200-lattego-fully-…
Buy it if you want the taste of pod coffee without the waste – at 3 times the price.
Don't buy it if you like coffee.
I question the review as he is saying the smeg bcc002 makes better coffee when it has the same internals as this machine.
I just bought one yesterday and now having some regrets after reading some comments above about the watery coffee and how hard it is to clean. I currently have a Philips L'or Capsule machine and will test out the difference. But if I don't end up liking this new machine, can I return it for free after using through ebay Plus?
I think Philips has 90 day MBG but need to be used for 30 days at least from some of the comments here
Can’t find that guarantee on their website
and I also called Phillips to ask about this, they had no idea about this, and only said you can return it for warranty purposes or per store policy.
Is it any good?
