Can the discount be stacked with ampol gift cards to pay off the balance?

    • Yeah I have done it paying full amount using discounted ampol e-gift card eg from shopback

  • +12

    via my Toyota App

So we all have to take turns using your phone?

    • -1

You can just register any Toyota in the App and use that…

      • The Offer is only available to guests who:
        have a myToyota account;
have a vehicle(s) registered in Garage (including VIN and registration details); and
have installed the myToyota app on a compatible smartphone or device or have accessed the Offer via myToyota online.

Toyota and/or Ampol reserve the right to refuse to provide the Offer to an individual if, in its reasonable opinion, it cannot verify that they are eligible to receive the Offer or believe the individual has engaged in fraudulent activity or are otherwise in breach of these terms.

Looks like only if you're lucky enough

        • +1

          (including VIN and registration details)

you can get those off a used car dealer.

          • +1

@jv: Gumtree and FB Market can provide it also.
            However,

Toyota and/or Ampol reserve the right to refuse to provide the Offer to an individual if, in its reasonable opinion, it cannot verify that they are eligible to receive the Offer
which means that they can refuse it if you drive a Ford and claim a Toyota's offer

            • +1

              @Pest85:

              that they can refuse it

'can' does not mean they 'will'…

              • +1

@jv: Oh, wow. Thanks for clarifying it for me.

                • -1

                  @Pest85: No worries…

      • +1

I think you might find it has to be a Toyota made later than 2000

  • +2

Absolutely no need for a 79

  • +7

Shame the inflate their prices by about 4-8c!

    • +2

Typically in Melbourne Ampol and United have the lowest prices for fuel

    • Sure you are not thinking about BP?
Here in WA there are several sites where Ampol are regularly the cheapest or within 1~3c compared to all other service stations other than costco almost every day of the week.

      • VIC def inflated to be almost on par with BP.

Cheaper for me to fill at Shell and grab 4c off instore purchase.

      • Is it just me or others here also notice differences in fuel economy across stations? I monitor fuel consumption on the car's own dashboard and via an OBD, it varies as much as 10–15%, and I notice it has some correlation with the station I fill up from (all other factors — type of drive, fuel, etc — notwithstanding).

    • +1

I don't think so son.. you are thinking BP or Shell.

      • +1

No dad, go back to the shed.

        • +2

Clean your room or you can't borrow my car.

    • Looking locally, they seem to be maybe 1c more expensive than the others in the area - using PetrolSpy

      • I've been using FuelMap after GasBuddy seemed to start lagging; in your experience is PetrolSpy better? I'd love an app would compare fuel prices net of discounts.

        • Depends where you are, but here the prices have to be centrally reported within 30 mins of a price change, so the app can dip into the current prices - and I've not seen any lag.

          • @sane: FuelMap also uses the govt's db. If the data is the same, FuelMap's UI seems better to me (no full screen ads, for one).

  • +1

does it stack with nrma 3 cents.off?

    • +2

No. I have personally tried and if you scan the second code (NRMA discount), it overrides the first code (Toyota discount) or vice-versa

      • Origin energy / RAA code stacks with woolies here in SA. So can get 8c with either methods

    • Offer is not available in conjunction with any other offers or fuel discounts unless specifically stated.

I'd guess you'll need to pick one

    • The system allowed it, but the person cancelled the order and asked me to pay again when I tried to do myToyota and Woolworths.
Anyway, good thing is, I only have to fill one a month, and 50 L easily gives over a 1000km, even in busy city driving in Sydney.
      TC Hybrid Sports model.

  • You used to have to pay at the pump, so couldn't combine offers.

  • [Toyota Owners] Save 8c/Litre at Participating Ampol Stations via MyToyota App

    Good deal for Adam Bandt

  • +4

Will this still work after I get my new Toyota finally delivered in 18-24 months…………..hope so

  • My local ampol is listed as a participating outlet but I bet they won't honour this, they don't even honour woolies 4c despite being a participating outlet. Pretty sure they're Ampol owned as well and not a franchise so I really don't get why they go out of their way to not fulfil promotions.

    • +1

Same happened to me, a Unaderra,
The cashier was adamant he couldn’t discount as the was independent, then why are you using the AMPOL branding?

      • +1

It seems per the Ampol location finder, there are 3 locations in Unaderra. 1 is an EG Ampol (formerly Woolworths Caltex), Ampol Foodary and an independent Ampol.

The first one takes Woolworths Discounts + EDR Points, the Foodary in your suburb only awards EDR points (as it's only up the road from the EG Ampol) and the independent Ampol shouldn't be taking any Ampol or EG related discounts.

  • What's Ampol's fuel quality like?

    • +2

it all comes from the same refineries in Australia, might have slightly different additives but it's fine

    • It is fine

    • +1

My understanding from like 10 years ago (so it may have changed with refinery closures and mergers) is BP is first, Mobil (7 eleven) and Caltex (now Ampol) are the next best, then Shell and others at the bottom tier.

  • Does this stack with 4c off Woolworths docket (if buy groceries >$30) so you get 12 cents off?

    • I don't think so

    • +2

      Probably not.

      • +1

        Fuel matters? Ask Wookie!!

      • That is strange. Like "darkmattersunB6c0MV" said in another message above, the system itself allows stacking of discounts, so maybe individual cashiers may decide to disallow it. I was at Ampol Chadstone (Melbourne) and asked the attendant. He said it was fine to stack myToyota and Woolworths discounts, so I did it and got both discounts (could see both in my receipt).
Has anyone else been able to stack myToyota with Woolworths fuel discount?

    • I had this work once - at Ampol O'Connor WA.
Usually they say I can just collect EDR points but no additional discount.

  • +1

BRB off to buy a Toyota for the fuel discount…

    • +1

Why buy when you can steal. Honestly I remember signing up using my old Toyota's number plate. Any random plate for Toyota will get you the account

      • Grant Theft Auto for 8c/litre fuel discount - that's a bit of a stretch…

  • Will this work at EG outlets?

  • +1

Any way to get the app or membership without owning a Toyota? 😂

    • Might be a little difficult to explain why you are refuelling a AMG GL63 with a Toyota voucher?

      • Second car.

      • +2

Not difficult at all. I do it all the time. They never ask.

    • See my comment above

    • Can't even get Japanese imports registered :p

  • THIS or Costco fuel? (assuming you have membership).

    • Whichever is cheapest overall? Nearly impossible to replicate usage for a real test but I've used both with no clear difference in performance or consumption. Main differences are probably additives and even then I'd guess they have similar cleaners etc, esp for 95/98. Can't comment about diesel.

      • The problem is how to tell which is cheaper. I have travel 15 minutes to get to COSTCO.

        • +1

Easy enough. Use PetrolSpy, watch for discounts on OzB, calc the approx saving minus your tyravel cost, factor in the inconvenience, try to fill up when your tank is near empty and the price cycle is lowest. Only you can decide when the $ saving is worth the effort and hassle.

        • +1

Here is some tailored advice for you, considering you appear to be in a part of Australia with no fuel cycle.

Use PetrolSpy to see prices around the ACT

If you do this often enough, you will start to see patterns on how fuel is priced around the ACT. (The following observations are for U91/E10.)

          • Canberra Airport is almost always the cheapest part of Canberra, due to Costco setting a low price and the EG Ampol next door and Ampol Foodary 2km away trying to compete. The EG Ampol and Ampol Foodary are usually only 4-5c/L more expensive than Costco, but one or two fuel discount vouchers can quickly eat into (or even wipe out) this difference.

          • Fyshwick is almost always the second-cheapest area, most likely due to a large number of fuel stations in the area, its proximity to Canberra Airport, as well as the two Metro Petroleum stations trying to be more competitive. The one on Barrier Street is currently only 1.2c/L more expensive than Costco for U91. No need for a Costco membership there!

          • Once you move away from Canberra Airport and Fyshwick, prices usually become noticeably more expensive, so you will notice prices generally being 10-15c/L higher.

If you do not already have a Costco membership and would only use it to purchase fuel, I would encourage you to calculate whether you can make back the $60 annual fee (and then some to cover the cost of journeying out there, since it sounds like you probably do not want to head out to Canberra Airport or Majura Park for anything other than fuel from Costco). Considering you say you are 15 minutes from Costco, it sounds like you are in a part of Canberra where fuel is more expensive (e.g. Braddon, Manuka), so you will need to work out whether driving to and from Costco solely for fuel is really worth it. Also keep in mind that Costco’s fuel pumps do not accept prepaid gift cards (e.g. Coles Mastercard gift card, Activ Visa gift cards) nor AMEX cards.

Familiarise yourself with fuel discounts you may already have access to

Have a look at the fuel discounts wiki to see the various discounts available at different fuel stations, as there are a lot of discount offers out there. The page is not intended to be exhaustive, so there is almost likely a few discount offers missing from that page…

          Check out the chopper method

If you have a 7-Eleven near you, have a look at whether you want to learn how to “fly a chopper” (i.e. fake a device’s location so that you can be in close proximity to the cheapest 7-Eleven station in Australia and then lock in that price so you can redeem that price at any 7-Eleven in Australia). You can also use Project Zero Three to see what the cheapest price for each fuel grade is in Australia across all 7-Eleven locations and pilot your chopper accordingly.

However, I will warn you it is very much against the terms and conditions of the 7-Eleven app to fake your device’s location, and there are the occasional stories of some people’s 7-Eleven accounts being terminated after 7-Eleven strongly suspecting they were actually flying a chopper.

        • +1

Biggest problem in Victoria is there is no mandatory fuel price reporting like every other state has .

So the fuel price reporting apps are generally not nearly as accurate as in the other states.

Around were I live, Ballarat, I find the fuel price apps are generally not very accurate at all :( ..

  • +2

Stack with current cashback from Commbank Rewards for more discount.

    • Didn't get it this time

  • Cheers OP.

Just put 140L of diesel in the bus.

    That Toyota app though…

  • +4

I went to fuel up and 4 cents off only although app says 8 cents

    • +1

Same here. They scanned my 8c QR code discount, but it only applied 4c.

      • Anyone else have this problem? Don't want to fill up and have that happen when the alternative servo (Costco) is a km away.

    • Have you found out why it didn’t work even it is showing 8c fuel discount on the app?

      • +1

Emailed through app but no response yet

        • Good luck with that. Emailed them last year about not being able to log in. Took them a week to reply. The problem had resolved itself about three days after I emailed them.

          • +2

@Igaf: "We regret to hear you were unable to access your fuel rewards and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I have attached a link to a $5 Ampol Cash Card as reimbursement."

            Not bad

  • Has the app been Ozbargained? I just downloaded the app and set it up, now I can't even get into it again.

  • You should see me in the parking lot
    7-eleven is the spot

  • There's a lag of a couple of weeks supposedly but PETROL pump prices should be easing according to international prices: http://www.aip.com.au/pricing/international-prices/internati….

  • I'm assuming E10 isn't included in this offer?

  • Can someone tell me why I can’t get to the Toyota movies from the link? I have the app fuel discounts work but nothing more.

    https://www.mytoyotamovies.com.au/login

    • Works for me directly from the MT Rewards link.

  • I went to ampol west ryde and she say they don't accept mytoyota :(

    91 petrol

    • Yes, the Ampol servo setup is confusing. Hopefully WookieMonster will clarify.

As far as I can tell there are EG Ampol, Ampol Foodary and straight Ampol servos. The first two seem to have different discount arrangements with various companies - Toyota, Woolworths etc. Some might have no discounts??? Before heading out to fill up you need to click the online links to participating service stations, eg https://www.toyota.com.au/mytoyota/ampol-finder .

    • +2

If I understand you correctly, you went to an EG Ampol on 924 Victoria Road, West Ryde NSW 2114? That is the only Ampol in West Ryde I can find in the Ampol store locator.

If so, EG Ampol is not included in any Ampol partner discounts, because EG Ampol is operated by EG Group, a franchisee of Ampol. EG Ampol have their own partner discounts.

I think the Ampol partner discounts (including the myToyota discount) are only redeemable at Ampol locations operated by Ampol Retail Pty Ltd, and those locations should have Foodary or Woolworths MetroGo on their convenience store front.

      • The 'straight' Ampol servos are largely operated by franchisees or third parties (e.g Bennett's Petroleum, Pearl Energy, etc) instead of Ampol's own retail company (Ampol Retail Pty Ltd).

Those 'straight' Ampol servos would simply have "Ampol (suburb name)" on the storefront with the franchisee/third party owner using their own retail layout or in some cases the Third Party owners use their own Retail shopfront (e.g Ampol Pearl Express (suburb name)).

Those straight (Independent) Ampol servos wouldn't be participating in the discounts provided by Ampol Retail Pty Ltd (trading as Foodary or Woolworths MetroGo) or EG Ampol.

  • Can anyone confirm that the 8c off works on E10 Fuel and not just 91 unleaded onwards/ and up? Thanks.

    • NVM just tried and yes it does work for E10 petrol. Cheers. 😁
