[VIC, TAS] 10% off Gift Cards at Victorian Home Hardware and Mitre 10 | 20% off Gift Cards at Tasmanian Stores @ Mitre 10

1000

It's raining offers at Miter 10. Get 20% off gift cards when you shop in-store! If you blink you'll miss out, offer valid from Saturday 10th Dec to Monday 12th Dec.

As per image, advertised on Facebook. Description above also copied from Facebook, including their typo of 'Miter'.

Ad didn't specify specific states but ad was on Facebook, so YMMV.

  • Why is everyone worried they closing down?

    • +5

That’s happened before - business is going bad, they offer massive discount on gift cards as a cash grab, when they file bankruptcy they can choose to not honour the cards any more.

    • I think they are trying to scare people off so they can get the cards themselves. As everyone would be quite aware, businesses usually run several rounds of these sorts of things before pulling back the curtain.

    • No chance of closing down. We hear and feel the pressures of our customers so are assisting them with some relief over the Christmas period.

Some people describe gift card buyers are unsecured lenders.

10% for all Victorian Home Hardware and Mitre 10

Aren't mitre10 just independently owned stores sharing a marketing banner - if yes, it would be unlikely every independently owned store would collapse at the same time and it would be unlikely the "parent" who most likely just collects marketing fees from the individual stores, would be so poorly managed they would collapse?

    • You are correct, Mitre 10 & Home Hardware stores are independently owned and operated, supported by the wholesale leg of Metcash

Watch this space for the NSW offer it will be out soon

      • Is a WA offer coming? 15%?

For anyone concerned about the company going bust and you losing your gift card value:

You'll be the last to have your gift card honoured.

    TLDR:

No chances of going bust here as we have just reported to AFR record sales results

      • +2

Absolutely trust the same entity selling said gift cards haha

        • Bored Ape Yacht Club shillers in a pickle right now.

  • TLDR is youre an unsecured creditor

If irs mostly independent stores it's low risk. Unless there's only a few independent stores left (everyone then dumps their gift card debt on a single proprietor)

20% is uncharacteristic for mitre10 though.

20% off is quite the bargain. I renovated the investment property with discontinued lines that were >50% off and saved heaps for good quality stuff.

    • I reckon you saved more than half!

  • 20% is good for mitre 10. Any other states getting a deal like this?

  • Blackwood Adelaide also doing 20%. Though max 2 gift cards.

    • Yeah but just wait until someone else is at the register. Otherwise, bring partner, children, pets…

Buy in tassie and spend elsewhere?

    • Gift card arbitrage….

  • I think this has been extended until Dec 24?

    • Okay, any information to say it has been extended?

      • +1

Yup, local M10 here posted this on their FB page. Discounted gift cards until Dec 24.

Cheers, hopefully the local stores will accept it! Looks like that particular store only!

          • @jddj: So it's not extended at your local store?

            • +1

@tessel: The local store is slow and have no idea when I rang them!
