    • +1

        Update: it has tracked

        I will pass. Nothing exciting.

        • +1

Yep. If there was like free 5,000 flybuys points sign-up bonus or something, then sure.

            • +3

@neosin: I've never redeemed my points for anything on the website, always $10 off my groceries at checkout in-store.

              • @wavesgreen: You're better off converting to flybuys dollars and spending that a) you earn flybuys on the flybuys dollars I believe and b) the $10 off counts as a discount rather than a spend (useful for hitting $30/$50 spend etc.). :)

              • -1

                @wavesgreen: Just read the reviews!

                https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/flybuys

I tried to redeem points at coles and they told me I have to redeem my points for a gift card online!

Am I on a different planet?

Are people here saying you can just scan the card at coles checkout and redeem my 6000 points for $30 off?

                • @neosin: To use your points at the checkout to buy groceries you need to redeem them first online in multiples of $10 = 2000 points. Its immediate so you could do in store if you use the app. You cannot use them to buy GC. It has been reported that you can do that at KMart and perhaps Liquarland. I have not done so myself. If that is correct you could purchase the Coles Myer Group GC and use it in Coles.

                • @neosin: You can only redeem 2000pts at the checkout for $10 off, it comes up automatically after I scan my flybuys card. You can do separate transactions if you wanted to do multiples of 2000pts.

                  • @wavesgreen: I have paid for $50+ shops with Flybuy points but after redeeming them for reward dollars online first.

                    • @Yola: Yes I know you can do that but my reply chain to neosin is about how I never redeem anything online.

            • +1

@neosin: 2000 flybuy points gives you $10 off your shopping at Coles

            • @neosin: The same thing was happening to me, which was frustrating. I used Brave browser in the end. Safari and mobile were just spinning their wheels.

        • +3

          if (decline $1 profit)
          throw exception (non-ozb)

      • +11

Awfully confident of Coles to think they can charge double that of Woolies competing service, especially when their online shopping facilities are pretty deficient in comparison.

Yeah, the double Flybuys earn rate partly compensates, but you'd need to shop big every month to make up a $10 difference. About a $1000 cumulative monthly spend I reckon?

EDIT: Plus if you're spending that much monthly anyway, you're probably above the $250 free delivery threshold without Coles Plus in the first place.

        • +9

The one thing Coles does much better is you can get delivery for $2, i can never find anything under $13 for Woolies.

          • @Iggemo: True, but ironically that actually makes it another point in favour of signing up for Woolies Delivery Unlimited and just using Coles casually and paying the $2 mid-week delivery fee.

I did look up Coles policy on multiple addresses, and it seems to be the same restriction of two addresses per account for both. I share my Woolies account with family so it's just under $60 for each of us annually, which I can cop.

            • +3

              @mystarey: Ouch, I wouldn't even pay $60 a year for delivery.
I'll stick with exercising and getting my groceries direct from the store, that's free delivery to my door, better deals on marked down items and great for my fitness.
              Win win win :)

              • @SimAus007: Not saying you should stop exercising and grocery shopping yourself (I work online at Woolies so I do all the groceries people order online bc they are smart/lazy/no time) but, the maths works out for Woolies Delivery Unlimited.

For me, closest Woolies is a 10km roundtrip, at 10L/100km, that’s a litre of petrol. Let’s say that’s $1.7 a week (presuming you only go shopping once a week), that’s already $88.4 a month just in fuel costs (and each grocery trip will probably take an hour+ a week if you value your time that you could spend with family/friends/working etc).

So IF you were to split a Woolies Delivery Unlimited (Annual $120)
with another family/household, that’s $60 a year, you’re basically saving all the money from petrol and have all the free time doing groceries to yourself, can go outside and walk instead of in between a packed supermarket aisle and let people like me pack your groceries, and tbh most of the staff will do a great job and will do their best to not give you broken boxes/bruised fruit.

But yes, marked down items that are near expiry you can save money there, but I mostly only buy stuff on 1/2 price except meat. And fruit from markets/wholesale bc generally cheaper.

Refund process for Woolies online deliveries is soooo easy, it’s all automated and you just click buttons to select what you want to refund (in case they screw up ur order or your fruits are bruised), and you don’t need to provide reasons, but obviously you’ll get flagged if you’re fraudulently refunding every order.

But yes, you will need to spend time every week looking through catalogue/website to get what you want, but you can make lists on Woolies website and order the same things again without having to add each item to cart.

This is just my two cents lol and makes sense to me logically. Maybe it’ll help someone.

                • +1

@Wolfhound: Yeah, different for everyone, good point.
I have a Coles,Woolies and Aldi near each other, both within a few minutes of my home, so I'd never shop at just one supermarket as it's very easy to see who has what on sale for the best price, and then there is Amazon which for many non perishable items is even cheaper than any of the supermarkets, even when they offer half price.
I also save a bunch of money buying the marked down items after 6pm, such a bakery items, cooked chickens etc. Something you can't do online.
In saying that, if I lived 10kms from a supermarket I'd probably do things very differently, as per your point.
I just laugh at those getting home delivery around here when the supermarket is literally across the road (unless you're disabled obviously).
So for me, the maths definitely does not work out paying a fee for "free delivery", it would cost me a lot more money over the year.

      • +1

        Coles orders over $50

        this still sucks :\

  • +13

Priority Customer Care line with a dedicated team

    I lold

    • +10

Sounds like you have to pay extra to receive what should be standard service

    • +6

sounds like they already scratched their head to make up "benefits".

    • +10

Why would I need this when they told me my regular call was already very important to them?

      • But now your call is MORE important to them, because you're a VIP ;)

  • +16

Gosh. Every single company needs a bloody subscription service these days, just no.

    • +3

The govt are getting on board too. In NSW public transport now has a subscription https://transportnsw.info/opalplus/subscriptions

      • Haha that's just wrong.

      • +1

Yeah, well, worse thing about NSW transport is there is no saving.

        Opal weekly cap = $50.
        Subscription max weekly = $50.

So you prepay to save exactly $0.

  • Coles customer service is shocking, non existent.

The customer service number of 1800455400 never connects.

Their, once, email customer service address is no longer monitored.

Priority Customer Care line with a dedicated team???? Hahahah gotta be a joke!!

Any Oz's who may have this 'Priority Customer Care line with a dedicated team' phone number please advise.

    • -1

      1800 508 308

The "priority number" is BS. I've called both and it makes no difference whether you are a Coles Plus member or not (I am a member).

      • +1

It's not BS, if you aren't a Coles Plus member and go through to the priority area (ie you don't press 5), they will transfer you to the regular queue.
It's very easy for a call centre queuing system to place all calls either in the order they are received, or jump your call to the front of the queue or a different queue (alternate team) for priority.
This is standard practice for airlines also for frequent flyers that are gold or platinum status.
        Same thing applies.
Part of my job is to set these systems up.

    • Ignore my reference to email address. That relates to Liquorland (same company)

October 15 to Coles email address:
      Order no. 154325057

      Grants whisky unavailable. Not supplied.

(I used the Coles website, not app)

      I sent this:

I checked Liquorland website, before and after, being advised of this by your email.
Two bottles were available to purchase (late afternoon delivery)

The bacon packaging had been penetrated.
      Full of air

      Not happy

      Terry

      October 16 email response:

Thank you for contacting Coles Online. We apologise for the delayed response as we are currently experiencing high contact volumes. We will try and get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

      And the result??

      Haha end of conversation!!!!

      No further response

  • Nowhere near the value of Everyday Extra and twice the price? What’s their game plan?

    • +3

It's a different service. It's Coles equivalent to Woolworths Delivery Unlimited.

      • Ohhhhh this makes much more sense. Cheers

  • +2

I once had a delivery truck forget to drop off a bunch of stuff (this was when they still had paper receipts and you could check more easily) so i rang customer service thinking if i can just get in touch with the driver maybe they can come back cos i noticed as soon as they had left.

Call goes through to i think Philippines, have to explain to them what part of Aus im in and the situation etc and then they just give your account a credit rather than doing anything about contacting the driver who was prolly literally within 100 m. Really efficient setup there, guys.

    • I believe the Philippines as well. After multi dialling I got through. She must have heard my anguish when I said 'are you offshore?' she hungup

    • YMMV of course but the one time I called Coles customer service about a delivery I spoke to someone in Australia.

  • Can it be stacked with the cancellation offer?

    • where?

      • +1

Went to the cancellation page and it offered $19 off $70 spend if I keep my subscription.

  • +1

$19 a month is petty expensive

  • Nah… I would rather join woolies one.

  • +5

Could you let us use gift cards online already!!

  • +1

I discuss with a work colleague and we agree that Woolworths is far more invasive with privacy than coles. We both now shop at coles instead, mainly to punish Woolworths

    • +1

Let's not forget Woolworth's also have far more expensive delivery fee compared to Coles.

      • WW delivery service is $10pm

        • Must be certain areas. Where I am it shows as $15.

    • Invasive how?

      • +1

The check out cameras, the linking of reward card to so many stores, we noticed that credit cards are linked to our profiles so that if we don’t scan our reward card but use our credit card the item comes up on our reward account suggested buys. Coles offers are generous, while Woolworths offers seem to be given to those who buy high profit pantry items, and not those who buy groceries only. Things like that.

  • +1

I'd love to shop with Coles if only they had the ability to use Gift cards online… why they won't make it happen is beyond me.
Look at successful gift card are at Woolworth's…

    • Yes, it's ridiculous. I get around this by using Flypay to pay with my Flybuys points and when I shop in-store I use the GCs.

  • +1

Amy idea when this expiring date is?

  • Seems the primary benefit is free delivery, followed by the double FB points ?

I think we already get 2 points per $1 via Coles Credit Card - no indication this stacks to double it to 4 points per $1 :/

  • only $1 profit? is coles plus $19 a month?
