1020

While looking around my 'Earn More' tabs on the app, I stumbled upon this new category that I've never seen before. I believe this is a new perk for Westpac customer card holder? I am not sure if they are offering for other banks.

Things you should know:
  • Cashback (including bonus Cashback) is offered by ShopBack Australia Pty Ltd (ShopBack) and not Westpac Banking Corporation (Westpac). Cashback offers are not exclusive to Westpac cardholders. Bonus Cashback is offered exclusively to Westpac cardholders who have access to bonus Cashback on top of any other available Cashback. The ShopBack account is not a Westpac account. To start earning Cashback, you must hold and maintain an account with ShopBack. Cashback is credited to the ShopBack account. Eligibility criteria, Cashback redemption, withdrawal conditions and T&Cs apply. See ShopBack for further details.

  • To receive Westpac bonus Cashback, you must add an eligible Westpac debit or credit card to your ShopBack account, make an eligible purchase on the same Westpac debit or credit card and comply with the offer criteria.

  • Eligible Westpac debit and credit cards include most Westpac branded consumer debit and credit cards. Westpac business debit cards and Westpac business credit cards are currently not eligible for Westpac bonus Cashback offers.

  • Purchases made using digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay will be eligible for Westpac bonus Cashback as long as an eligible card is used as the linked payment method at the merchant’s checkout.

  • Purchases made using online payment methods such as PayPal, where ShopBack is not able to identify whether an eligible card was used at the merchant checkout, will not qualify for Westpac bonus Cashback (even where an eligible card is linked e.g. to the PayPal account).

  • Cashback offers may be varied or withdrawn at any time and may not be available in conjunction with any other promotion.

  • You will only be eligible for the Westpac bonus Cashback provided you meet the merchant offer criteria. Offers will be subject to their own Terms and Conditions.

  • Westpac is not responsible for the accuracy or completeness of claims made in relation to the services provided by merchants who participate in providing these offers.

  • You are in ShopBack’s website or app, which is a third-party site not owned by Westpac.

  • Westpac can give or receive commissions to or from any person in connection with Cashback provided by ShopBack.

Maybe Westpac is set to partner with SB, like ANZ with CR?

    • Might be, since the bonus is 2% which was similar to the ANZ with CR exclusive.

Nah. They did Latitude cards a month or so ago.

ANZ exclusive with CR is ending.

      • ANZ exclusive with CR is ending.

I can find CR ad in the ANZ App.

They may still have a majority stake, but the anz max cashrewards is ending.

If you can't see it (like me), make sure you have a westpac card linked as a payment type :)

  • +4

But wouldn't using discounted gift cards be similar?

  • do you get cash back instore too or is it only for online purchase using linked westpac card?

  • +4

It's a nice idea - but it's still more beneficial to buy and pay with gift cards…

  • Damn if we got perpetual 2% cashback on ebay with a westpac debit card 😍😍😍

  • How do you get $5 back at the iconic? Do you have to buy it through the app?

    • Requires shopback activation. Tracks like normal and will trigger challenge I assume and will check via merchant report - how they could tell apart Visa and Mastercard transactions.

  • There was a $5 bonus on $15 bunnings giftcard last night morning at 2 am as well.

ShopBack got t&c’s like a bank

    • More like Westpac's Legal counsel wrote it up.

I'm more confident getting my money back through PayPal for purchases gone wrong than through my bank. Though I still hate PayPal for getting rid of refunded returns.

  • Can’t seem to be in my SB :-(

      did you add Westpac card?

      • Ah thanks for the reminder!

  • So is it 2% or 0% on categories that are usually 0% on Amazon?

  • @Riqodex its actually $2 for uber eats which is pretty good since its for existing accounts

I just checked and yes you are correct, just updated it. Thanks for that!

  • Any promos to sign up to westpac? :)

  • will it work for St George CC- owned by Westpac?

    • only one way to find out

      • Tell us if you’re and Optus customer and we can find out for you…

My wife and I have ShopBack accounts. She has Westpac MC and I have supplementary card in my name. They both have the same numbers (different names on card).
ShopBack does not allow the same card number to be used with two different ShopBack accounts. I don't see why this is prevented in this scenario.
I understand that using the same card may imply one person having multiple accounts, and ShopBack may want to discourage that, but this is not that.

    @gotyourback has this been considered?

    • Westpac digital card is unable to be used because the card number stays the same and only the CVC changes.

Hey mate, thanks for taking the time to reach out. Unfortunately we do need to limit the linked cards by card number, regardless of what name they are under, as the card number is how we identify them. I'll pass on your feedback to the team who take care of our partnership with Westpac in the hopes that this can be changed in future.

      • Thanks for taking back to the Westpac partnership team.

    • You could open a Choice account. It should be easy to do in her name and you may be able to get the monthly deposit requirement waived.

  • Anyone knows if this can be used more than once? For eg. if I make several Ubereats purchases, will I get several $2 cashbacks?
