I prefer the mayonnaise version of this. Especially on hot chips.

    Too sugary for me.

    • +2

Most sriracha has half the sugar

  • +2

I get Frank's, it's got no added sugar.

    • where from

      • Woolworths has a range of Franks

      • Aldi has the Franks extra hot when they do American specials

        • Yeah got some of those, bigger bottles and better price.

PS Probably worth getting the real sriracha for better ingredients.

The one with a cock on it (huy Fong) is a better bet

    • more than twice the price

      • Twice as good most likely but similar enough to try the cheap one.

        • Yeah, based on these comments i'm slightly regretting buying two but hey it will be fine on a sasuage sanga if nothing else.

@Budju: Sure it doesn't hurt to have in your hot sauce collection. The real stuff isn't on sale that often.

          • @Budju: I ended up getting one, don't have heaps left of the original stuff.

Slightly different uses, but those cholula and Byron bay hot sauces from the supermarket are pretty good.

Made in the USA. And that's a good thing.

      • It's the OG Siracha sauce made accessible to most in grocery stores.

        • I've only bought about 30 bottles of it, but thanks for letting me know! I haven't tried this trident one but did just buy some today.

          • @Budju: Before Huy Fong came along, most hot sauces were either bought at specialty groceries/ deli's and weekend markets.

Also, they managed to perfect the flavour and scoville scale for mass production.

It's spicy, but not hot enough for me, however the flavour is great.

Missus on the other hand thinks it's really, really spicy.

Some hot sauces focus more on the scoville scale but the flavour is whack.

            • @JPerez: Before i bought huy fung regularly i would buy very hot birds eye chilli with lemon home made sauce from the markets. I still buy it as it is the best one by far. Huy fung is nice but has about one chilli per bottle only.

              • @Budju: Huh Fung is like 80% chillies, they're just milder ones

    • Yeah get the original brand, better.
This stuff probably be alright for the work fridge for that price.

Side by side comparison of Trident Sriracha vs Huy Fong (Rooster).
Note that less than a third of Trident's sauce is actually chilli (excluding salt) vs 84% in Huy Fong. Also a big difference in sugar content.

As someone that likes hot sauce but inexplicably hates the taste of hot cock sauce, cheers. Hopefully this doesn't have the strange off flavour I can't stand but can't name …

Thanks OP, bought 3 bottles. Needed some hot sauce for sausage sangers and the like. Bang Fo Buck sauce at this price.
There’s also a promotion going if you buy this sauce - http://www.tridentfoods.com.au/trymefree/

  • Just to add, the promotion is to receive the purchase refunded onto a digital MasterCard prepaid Card. So a bottle of sauce for free. The purchase that just keeps giving in so many ways!!!!

    • Started looking at this, it's a chance to win.. says the form isn't secure, not worth putting in personal details for 2.90
