I mean I lost my passport and all, but at the end of the day - I think that consumers need to start and move along from this whole Optus scandal, yes it was due to complete idiocy of Singtel but then again, data hacks are frequent as ever. Let Optus have another turn at doing what it does best. I know that this opinion will be unpopular to many but its just my piece of wisdom.
If it happens to Virgin Australia? Never fly Virgin Australia again. If it happens to the ATO god forbid? Renounce your Australian citizenship.

lol happened to RMS NSW.
They stored 50k+ drivers licenses on an unsecured amazon webserver.
Caused me to fall victim to identity theft+fraud.Then NSW hospitals got hacked and patient records were stolen.
Took health NSW forever to even alert me.People don't realize that hacks take place all the time, its just there are so many potential targets that not everyone fall victim or even learn that they were one.
I agree. Sure Optus screwed up but now they will have extra scrutiny over their security so will probably be more secure compared to most companies. If anything, they may well be the best Telco to go to if security is of concern moving forward. They stuffed up like many (and others to come) but will have learnt from it (the hard way).
Probably better getting Officeworks to price beat (5%) then having to deal with Optus
