    +Surcharge :(

Edited thanks. Surcharge shouldn’t be a thing it really does ruin the shopping experience sometimes.

I've said in previous posts that a surcharge shouldn't exist. These big business/companies have deals with the banks where they don't pay bank fees. It's a normal sale, not on a public holiday. Amex does require a 2% charge however. My old man used to say "i'd rather have 98% of something than 100% of nothing".
How many people use cash these days? Not as many as it used to. Eftpos doesn't require a surcharge and that's basicall what this is. If they want your business, they should wear it, not the consumer

          Well said mate

          • @Brrrrt: Another way to look at it is $12 for every $1000 sale. Say you buy a laptop or pre-built rig at $3k…. that's $36 extra for nothing. Somebody buys a mouse at $100, it's a $1.20 extra fee. Same rate for a small or big sale, so why should the laptop/comp (even though it's the same rate) pay so much more total? Woolies, bigW, supercheap, coles, nobody charges a surcharge for their shopping lol (probably already in the price) but point still stands….

          • @Brrrrt: It is a good price however. New AM5 isn't much of a jump forward in tech specs. Would rather have top tier last gen over low/mid end new gen for the $. Easier for earlier boards like a B450/550 to upgrade with a bios flash…. no need to buy mobo, ram, gpu, cooling, recycle old platforms with new life.

The fact that the several of them happened to be all on the same discount and still a good deal from the rest of the vendors? That some shops with the same discount might have been expired/sold out?

  • What is the go to AIO cooler for the 5800X3d?
Would the stock 5600X cooler be good enough as an interim solution?

    • +1

      sure, for like a day.
arctic freezer II 280+ is the way to go

      • Thats the exact one i just fit to my 5800x3d while be giving it a run tonight

      • What about a Corsair H100i

        • I'm using my corsair H100i V1 aio on a 5700X and never been over 53°c when stressed with ambiant at 25-30. This may use a bit more power but don't see why a H100i couldn't handle it (unless you need unicorn poop rgb crap like nearly every aio has these days lol).

Literally just got mine installed yesterday. Upgraded from a 3800X.
Overall, gaming is HEAPS smoother, no jitters or anything like that, especially in MSFS2020, insurgency SS and PUBG.

Definitely, bigger L3 cache doesn’t just help with raw frames, more importantly it significantly boosts 1% lows and that have a bigger impact on gaming experience as it’s the irregular stutters that’s much more noticeable to the human eye.

I still think it’s a shame the mobile ryzen chips didn’t get the ‘big L3 cache’ trait of the desktop ones, not even talking about v cache here just even the ‘normal’ ryzen chips have a small gain over intel counterparts, yet with mobile they are stuck with 16mb for two gens now. Hope 7000 series brings some great news to mobile gamers.

    • Good to hear. What GPU are you running?

Can someone tell me why not buy it from Amazon for $499 with the extra discount on give cards and stuff? Why is this a deal? Thanks

    • +5

Hi mate, just like the other local retailer deals for the 5800x3d posted here the last several days, people:

      • may want to support local businesses over bezos

      • may find it convenient if they can pickup

      • may want to buy it along with other items

      • may not have gotten the amazon giftcards

      • may be due to a combination of the above reasons

    • I brought mine from local cause I had just ordered 2 x Kingston KC3000 NVMe drives.
I CBF taking my system apart multiple times to install New drives and CPU so I got it from centre com C&C all in the one hit. Convenience ultimately.

Otherwise I would of just ordered from Amazon like I usually do.

  • https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09VCJ2SHD same price at Amazon. Its better.

    • +5

Yeah mate that deal is already posted on here so I cant post it. Im just posting this for the people that might want to do c&c, support a local business or if they want to combine it with other things in a big order. If one still had the amazon giftcard charges thats a much better deal for sure.

      • Oh yeah for sure I also want the CPU so the more the merrier. Hope it goes around $400 though :D

Amazon is great, but Amazon isn’t participate if you want FREE games https://www.centrecom.com.au/amd-ryzen-uncharted-game-bundle. I bought a 5600 from Amazon last months but didn’t know, hope people won’t make the same mistake if you want the game.

  • Wonder if they'll do a bulk deal for ozb's?? If a few people are after a new chip, pool the resources and buy a few…. i dunno lol could work if it was a tray chip maybe
