Have been seeing a few deals for Synology. For a noob, is this product only for corporate/business use ?

For 200$ I'd consider at home fore sure Synology dsm is sick

      • For what purposes mate?

Storage, redundancy, might do a bit of transcoding too not sure.

          Set it up.
Share it out on your network.
          Save all your isos there.

Nah you can use it to store all your radioactive, midget, monkey, jelly wrestling porn on it at home

    • Synology is known for having a decent and easy to use software suite, so really should be just the ticket for a NAS noob.

If anything it's for use as a straight file server for a home user really due to the older/low power CPU and limited RAM. Don't expect to be running any VMs or Plex transcoding off this thing. Could work well as a backup to a second NAS.

  • These work well for Surveillance Station with a Reolink camera, used one in a 1 camera setup for a few months before upgrading to a 920+

  • This one doesn't seem to support btrfs.

  • Would have liked to buy one.unfortunately, out of stock

  • Got one of those at my mate's place for off-site backup.
