    Hi Manyo bro,
Which company gives bettter deal for solar feed in in Western sydney area 2765?
Just want to save some time on checking :)
    Thx

  • +2

is this the same thing as last time, if so, can i apply use this site to change retailers again and get another $270 gift card

    • -2

You'll cop the disconnection and connection fees though.

      • +2

don't get it, most if not all have no connection and disconnection fee

        • In SA, there is a fee for a special meter reading which can be some ridiculous amount.

      • There isn't any physical disconnection and connection of your electricity supply that those fees apply to, just changing who you are paying the bill to. So no fees for that!

        • +1

They do charge for meter readings at the end

          • +1

@Royale with cheese: Depends on retailer. Have swapped electricity retailers many times & not been charged. Had manual reads. Check your retailer fees.
(Don't have gas, so don't know about their processes.)

No manual read if have an electricity smart meter, so no charge. Powershop used to install them free for customers.

            • +1

@INFIDEL: Energy australia has always charged me fee for the meter read when i have changed from them. I think AGL did the same. Its not the disconnection fee which is not there. I guess its different with different providers

              • @Royale with cheese: With complaints here about those retailers, I've fortunately avoided those fees.

Powershop installed free a smart meter - ending manual reads.

But it's something to look out for!
Always check the fees & charges before swapping retailers!

  • +1

Does it need to stay connected for a certain period?

    • T & C says 30 days, credit paid within 4 months.

    • Hey randomdude14, as per the terms and conditions, in case the switch or connection is cancelled within the first 30 days from the activation date, the transaction would be deemed invalid and you will not be eligible to receive a gift card.

  • Is OVO Energy included in the list?

    • Is ovo good?

      • They're the cheapest with a 4.3 star rating on productreview, seems decent

        • They do credit checks. Just something to be aware of.

        • Ovo Cheapest… Not in my experience - depends on location, usage, & other factors. Do your own calculations / comparisons.

My first month bill is almost double previous month with Alinta. Despite lower energy use & given $10/m credit by Ovo. Not what I calculated.

Ovo is more complex as a prepaid service, automatically billing a preset amount before each month. Downside: They wildly overestimated my first payment. Finally got a refund of $143 for first month prepayment. Was still higher than actual bill.

Was convinced by different comparison service to change to Ovo…
          Connected 5/10 shown on bill
Need to stay 60d to qualify for $150 gift card (4/12)
Seems like the time to leave!

          • @INFIDEL: They're only the cheapest for us as they'll pay 12c/kWh for the first 4000kWh, compared to our current plan which only pays us 7c/kWh

If we used the majority of our 6.6kWh, or if we had a smaller setup, then it doesn't seem worth it as they charge a premium. But given we'd be exporting close to that 4000kWh limit, it seems like a phenomenal deal

    • They are for my postcode in VIC.

    • Hey mate, yes we have OVO energy plans available on the link-https://www.econnex.com.au/ozbargain-econnex/

  • Is the credit check standard procedure? I'm new to this

    • +1

Yeah, they will credit check, which is annoying as I blocked my credit report after Optus crap, so I need to unblock just for this.

  • +1

Well, this was an odd experience. Timely, because I just got the notice that my current plan will be expiring in a little over a month. This service offered me a better deal than both the ActewAGL site and the Energy Made Easy comparison tool was able to give, but it was just another ActewAGL plan that I guess is exclusive to Econnex? So I figured I'd sign up, regardless of eligibility the $150 (electricity only) bonus.

Was a bit worried when I saw the identity verification options only being "Driver's Licence" and "Foreign Passport". Barely any organisation accepts my ACT Proof of Age card in lieu of the licence because it has no expiry date, and so it proved. So I thought the deal was dead. But then it turns out "Foreign Passport" includes an option for Australia, which is utterly confusing.

Then I remembered that since I am a former Optus customer affected by the hack, my passport would not work with the Document Verification Service. But it did. So that's kind of good but also kind of bad. Good because I do at least have a usable form of identity still available for verification. Bad because it means Optus lied once again, and my exposed passport number is potentially out there to be exploited by bad people.

So yeah, that was a mess. But at least I get to keep my current electricity rate for another year instead of copping a price increase.

    • The passport may/should have failed on DVS as only good for Travel but your ID combo may have passed on energy provider rules set up/ other data sources

  • +3

No rush.. these guys have posted roughly the same offer every 2 weeks for the past 2 years.
Take your time and work out the best supplier for your own needs.

    • Yeah, infact last time it was only $100 per utility so it seems they pick a number and offer that.

  • How long does it take to get the e-gift card?

    • Hey Peanut money, Eligible Recipients will receive a Woolworths Store Bonus eGift Card by email up to 90-120 days after successfully switching your energy.

  • No deal for nbn plans?

    • +2

Hey mate, we are bringing NBN deals soon!

  • Some key terms that really should be in the OP:

Eligible Recipients will receive a Woolworths Store Bonus eGift Card by email up to 90-120 days after successfully switching your energy.

In case the switch or connection is cancelled within the first 30 days from the activation date, the transaction would be deemed invalid and you will not be eligible to receive a gift card.

Gift Cards are valid for 3 months from the issue date and are not reloadable or redeemable for cash.

    • +1

Switched under same rule in May. Everything worked fine.

$100 Wish gift card offered arrived within 90d.

3 months to use gift card is plenty of time. Woolies reset mine to 4 months for some reason. Set a reminder to use.

There is a 10d cooling off period before the swap starts. Check the start date on first bill. Factor that into next swap date.

Stayed with Alinta for 3 months before swapping, as rates were lower than previous electricity retailer.

Will be swapping again with this offer.

  • I'd be very wary of this. I switched my Internet with the $100 offer. Even though it's a custom landing page with the shopback logo, no cashback was tracked. After two weeks I contacted chat and luckily i had taken a screenshot of the order confirmation page. I was asked to submit a cashback claim and included the screenshot. Been over a week. Not a peep from shopback. Oh also the click tracked so wasn't an issue from my end.

    • +1

      But this isn’t from ShopBack?

      • Shopback via Econnex portal. When you sign up its Econnex who first contact you to confirm details before its processed by the ISP.

    • Mine was tracked but not paid out.

  • I jumped on the Lumo energy rate lock back in June before everyone hiked rates. Paying 25c peak/15c off peak/6.7c FIT/$1 a day supply in Vic. When I did an energy compare to get the $250 handout from the Vic govt (that website is so useless), everything it offered was much more expensive than I’m on. Would have to keep jumping around in these upfront incentives to make it worthwhile.

  • Just joined the previous deal for $200 gift card!! damn

  • Oops.. switched to Tango energy 30 minutes ago and seen this offer just now😢

  • Are we eligible for this offer again if we participated in the last offer and received gift cards?

    • Mate, In case the switch or connection is cancelled within the first 30 days from the activation date, the transaction would be deemed invalid and you will not be eligible to receive a gift card.

      • Hi, I signed up with OVO energy directly with a Shopback cashback reward a few days ago, but decided to yesterday and returned back to Tango ( didnt think the plan suited)

If i signed up through you and go with OVO energy ( has different plans available like good solar tariff) will i be entitled to the gift card?
        Thanks

      • I have signedup last week using $100 offer for energy. Now signed up again with different retailer for $150 offer. Obviously I am in cooling off period and existing provider will cancel energy and new will be connected. I am eligible for new offer now which is $150 gc, right?

  • +1

This offer is available for all existing customers of Simply, AGL, ActewAGL and EnergyAustralia customers to upgrade the plans.
    Nah, I am not eligible.

    • Didn't see this, are we unable to take up this offer if we're on Origin then?

    • Only my gas is currently with AGL , while electricity is with ReAmped.

If I swapped to Alinta for both gas and electric, am I still qualified for $150 and $120?

      • +1

yes mate, you will be eligible.

Please note, This offer is available for all transfer connections and move-in connections.

This offer is available for all existing customers of Simply, AGL, ActewAGL and EnergyAustralia customers to upgrade the plans.

In simple words, you can switch your retailer and if you are with Simply, AGL, ActewAGL and EnergyAustralia you can upgrade you plans with them.

  • can you please confirm… if powershop can provide connection to on demand tariff/ house with smart meter?
    Simply said they can not.

    • Hey sydneybargainer, kindly DM us your NMI or your exact address, so that we can give you the correct information.

      • Sent you a DM.

      • any luck so far?

        • Energy Australia website showing 5% discount & same plan on your website showing 3% discount…. Is that how it is or is there an error?

  • Are we eligible for this offer again if we participated in the last offer and received gift cards?

    • Hey tammy101, customers who acquired an Energy connection from any retailer through Econnex Comparison within the previous 60 days will not be eligible for this promotion.

  • +1

I was given only few retailers. Can I sign up with only them? I'm in SA. I'm considering Simply Energy as they offers better feed-in rate.
    But, Econnex has no option.

  • Hi there,

Question: Moving homes soon and in the new place they are offering 'seene', a 'centralized electricity, hot water and stovetop service'.

I understand that in Australia I can opt my own provider and no obligation to sign up with them.
However, my question is on the Hot Water site of things? If the Apartment uses hot water, will signing up for electricity/gas combo fulfill everything, or do I need for a hot water supplier as well?

    Appreciate your response..

  • Also does connection need to take place by 9 DEC or sign up? E.g moving houses 13 Dec would that apply still?

    • Marcx33, please make sure that you selected the correct move-in date and your new address.

  • Do you have to sign up to electricity and gas at the same time? When I search electricity and gas in my area, only electricity is available, but when I search only gas, I get 2 options.

    • More options became available when I changed the connection date.

  • -1
  • Western Australia taken off the list overnight, but span text messages have not stopped. Thanks for nothing.

  • Hi, @Manyo

I understand that you can only use this promo every 6 months. But does it apply to each services individually or regardless?

I switched both electricity and gas on 18/11/22, however I received SMS saying "Hi XXX, Unfortunately, your application for transfer of Electricity hasn't gone through due to some technical reasons." So only the gas has been transferred.

If I apply to transfer electricity again using this promo, will I be eligible for the gift card? Or because I had used Econnex to transfer gas last month, I won't be eligible for another 6 months?

    Regards

    • Customers who acquired an Energy connection from any retailer through Econnex Comparison within the previous 60 days will not be eligible for this promotion.

This is new. I did not see this condition when I checked the T&Cs on 1/12 afternoon.

      • Hi @jackofspade

Thanks for pointing this out. I was not aware of this.

        Hi @Manyo

Based on the above T&Cs, can you please confirm that I won't be eligible if I want to transfer electricity this time, because I had acquired Gas connection through Econnex Comparison within the previous 60 days, (before was 6 months I believe) but will be eligible again after 60 days from when my gas is connected?

        Regards

    • KOzBargain, If you have signed up with gas only, yes you will be eligible for (electricity sign-up)for this offer.

Customers who acquired an Energy connection from any retailer through Econnex Comparison within the previous 60 days will not be eligible for this promotion.

Econnex has a different set of terms and conditions for broadband.

      • Great, thanks for clarifying, Manyo.

Will try sign-up electricity again using this promotion, hopefully no technical reasons this time.

        Thank you.

  • @Manyo

Are you able to confirm you received my application: 1672532675

    Thank you

  • Hey mate, your application is in processing and you will receive email/sms with the confirmation of the successful submission.

  • Simply energy sent us a welcome pack and i msged them via chat to ask something and they said my application is cancelled due to credit check. Lol
My credit check is "good" and they can't explain why and didn't even send an email advising its cancelled!!!

    • Hey bargaingalor3, please share your reference number in order to track your application.

      • What for? They've already cancelled it. we called them and they said they cannot reinstate a rejected application

  • Hi, I am going to move out from my parent's house next week and I am looking for a decent energy provider.
Is this offer eligible for new

  • +1

Hi, I am going to move out from my parent's house next week and I am looking for a decent energy provider.
Is this offer eligible for a new customer?

If not, can you guys please recommend a good provider?
    Thanks

    • Hey mate, Kindly e-mail us your details at [email protected], one of our agents will give you a callback and will assist you to find a provider as per your requirements.

  • I can sign up GAS with Alinta via their website. Shows up in energymadeeasy.gov as well. But it does not show up on your results / filters?

    • Same here. The electricity offers shown match roughly what I can also get from energymadeeasy (filtered down to the supported providers), but for gas it shows only 2 to me and both are really expensive.

      • @Manyo - are there any limitations or issues with the gas offers? Contemplating if it is worth it changing the gas, as the only two shown are around 50% more expensive than my current one or other offers from Alinta/Dodo/etc.

        • Hey David, Econnex does not support Alinta Energy Gas only sign up as it is a dual offer deal only.

  • @Manyo,

Are you able to confirm you received my application: 1679603497

    Thank you!

    • Hey NDIB, we received your application and it is in processing.

  • Why is the 'Super Solar' plan from Powershop isnt listed/available?

    • Hey SBOB, Super solar plan from Powershop offer is not available on Econnex. If you want to take advantage of Powershop's Super Solar Offer, please contact Powershop directly. We have a range of solar-specific offers with Simply Energy (NSW), Tango (VIC), and OVO Energy (VIC, SA, and QLD).

  • Hi,

If I sign up through Shopback.

Can I get $171 cashback and $270 giftcard as well?

    • Don’t forget the $112 from CashRewards too…
      Might as well, right ?

      • Are we able to get cashback from both side?

        • +1

No we can’t, I was being sarcastic about it

Get up to $270 Woolworths eGift Card from Econnex Comparison, when you Switch Energy via https://www.econnex.com.au/ozbargain-econnex/

    • +1

I saw that, I. Intend to swap to another as soon as I get the gift cards. Powershop also use credit checks and direct debit only. Alinta rejected me last time as I failed their credit check!? Dunno why 🤷‍♂️

    • Hey mate, yes you will be eligible for the cash back from the retailer, and if you sign up through the link provided, you will be eligible for the gift card.

      • Nah, what he was asking was if he could get both - gift cards and $171 cashback from a single switchover..

    • +1

Hey KpopOppa, this offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other corporate offer or discount.

In other words, if there is any offer from retailer side, you will be eligible for the offer, but you can only get 1 either cashback from Shopback or gift card from this offer, kindly keep in mind, in order to be eligible for the gift card you must use the link provided for the sign up.

  • Signing up for electricity in Brisbane…
Choice of Ovo (current retailer), Alinta & En Australia.
Found the process a bit confusing.

There are numerous rate options for each retailer with different prices. Some were not available at my location.
Thought I could just sign up for cheapest rates…

Rang Ovo - rate conditions (Controlled Load 1 or 2, Demand, Time of Use, etc) are set by electricity supplier based on meter, not by retailer. No choice of rate.

Need to select appropriate rate based on meter conditions. (Those were not stated on bills, making comparison more difficult.)

When I changed to OVO just over 60d ago, the rates were much higher than expected (based on my incorrect reading of cheaper rate). Ovo bill was double my previous tiny bill with Alinta.

Signed up with Alinta - for the $150 gift card👍

  • @Manyo

Are you able to confirm you received my application: 1677467731

    Thank you
