  • Do these come with Bluetooth remotes?
edit: Seems not - only the Mini 4K has the newer Bluetooth remotes

How does it deliver the FTA TV out of interest? Does it need to be connected to an aerial, or is it delivered via apps/internet? I have an Android mibox, Amazon FireTV and a couple of smart TV's, but without an external aerial, I seem to have to revert to foxtel for the main FTA TV stuff.

    • Keen to know this as well.

      • I just read the description in the link (should have done this before making my comment above). "Needs an aerial for FTA channels".

        • +4

There was a recent update that allows it to stream FTA from a Fetch Mighty on the same network that has an antenna connected.

I've been watching FTA TV on my Mibox for over 2 years no problem. It works the same way with Google TV and FireTV. You need to first install the app tvirl (sideload or from the store if available on your device) which triggers android to display the hidden android TV app. Instructions at https://www.matthuisman.nz/2019/01/live-au-iptv-channels-on-…

      • This is great advice and worked really well thanks.

For anyone doing this make sure to use a capital letter in your EPG city

      • Thanks @cohiba, this has been a revelation! Followed the instructions and got it working straight away. Much appreciated.

  • Any deal on the 4k version?

  • +3

why this instead of apple tv/newest chromecast (the one with remote)

    • Apple TV (device) does not show FTA TV or record.

      • Fetch mini doesn’t record either.

        • True; I keep forgetting my Mini records via my Mighty. It's quite seamless.

  • What payment methods do they support to deal directly with fetch? Not the monthly fee for premium, just to buy the box…. does anyone have an idea?

    • +1

      It's just a $1 signup fee. That's it.

      • Bloody hell! That's simple lol. Thinking about getting the mini just to watch HGTV

It's getting a bit laggy. Navigating the EPG and menus is slow.

The pause and rewind feature doesn't work very well.

I like it but I think it's getting to the end of it's useful life.

I've just bought a Chromecast with Google TV and it's much faster browsing the menu and apps.

    • It was laggy from day one.. get the 4K mini if possible

    • They're getting worse as new apps and features are added. I wouldn't consider one, get a Mighty or get something else.

    • Do not buy this.. new updates and apps have made it ridiculously laggy and slow to use.
Source : I'm the unfortunate owner of one.

Had a Fetch Mighty and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. It’s painfully slow and had difficulty connecting to the server half the time rendering the whole subscription useless (lucky because it came free with the old Optus plan, otherwise I would never pay for this). The thing literally took about at least 10 minutes to restart and connect to the internet, hopefully this Fetch Mini can do better.

Have never had behaviour like this on our mighty in many years of ownership. Either something up with the Optus version, your internet, or you got a dud.

I've got two from the recent $99 deal, both been good. no slower than other PVRs I've got
Didn't realise that some of the channels would no longer be available after a while, so I've got a bunch of recordings that I can't watch.

Amazon Fire 4k TV Stick MAX at @$49 is much better value they also have the standard 4k for $39
    - Smaller and Faster Unit (so small, always take with me to use on the hotel TVs)
    - Supports More Video and Sound Formats, eg: Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos)
    - Nicer remote with dedicated buttons for, Prime, Disney, Netflix).
    - WiFi6
    - Single remote supporting HDMI CEC and IR to control your devices (TV\Home Theatre\FireUnit). Meaning it's family friendly, you can hide all other remotes.
    - Load most Android apps in Dev mode (eg: TiviMate, so you can stream\record LiveTV via the Internet) or you favorite IPTV Player

  • This would have been useful 5 years ago but I haven’t used FTA since.
