Apple & Apple Education Store: 10% Cashback (Exclusions Apply, Capped at $100) @ Cashrewards

3280

This is what we've all been waiting for

Have you seen the Cashrewards Black Friday cashback increase banner everywhere? Seen the Apple logo on it and wondered when it will happen and how much the cashback will be?

Well, I reached out to TA (tightarse) last week to enquire about the upcoming upsized cashback for Apple since everyone was asking for it in relation to Apple's annual Black Friday sales (Apple Shopping Event) and he was more than happy to provide some details:

Upsized cashback rate: 10% (excl. GST)

During the 24 hour promo, cashback for Apple is capped at $100 in total per member account, irrespective of the number of transactions made. Valid 12am to 11:59pm AEDT 25/11/2022.

Best to use the Cashrewards app for the highest chance of tracking!

TA has confirmed that all cashback eligible products sold as part of the Apple Shopping Event will be applicable/eligible for the 10% upsized cashback offer, despite having a promotional bonus gift card bundled with the item.

However, cashback will still be ineligible if you purchase a standalone gift card (as always), so don't buy a standalone gift card.

Stack this upsized cashback deal with the Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen $399 + Bonus $80 Apple Gift Card deal for an even bigger saving on the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, especially if using discounted gift cards to pay (yes - you can use gift cards to pay) - this is probably the best deal ever for the 2nd Gen

            • @yanlianglee: I have claimed with the online receipt in the past.

  • purchased airpods pro 2 using $50 giftcard but nothing has showed up with for the $80 giftcard. any ideas?

    • I purchased same with all gift card. just received the voucher, an hour after shipped msg was sent.
Also, received 2 mails at same time, 1 for invoice and other for $80 gift card.
If in doubt, you can call or chat with them online.

      • what time did you order? I ordered at 3:40pm for click and collect today.

        • 12:30AM with personalized message. People who did same time without any personalized msg, got their $80 around 9-10 in the morning.
They might take some time to reach to your order …

          • @rkm: i got my tax invoice for the airpods but no gift card email. hopefully comes soon.

  • if only the m2 pro was out

    • +1

You can understand why it’s a bit shy — I would be, too, if I was about to be mobbed

      • +1

Yeah coz there were rumours about an apple event in Nov

    • Even if it was released, it would be excluded from these deals for a long time.

  • Has anyone's Cashback been confirmed yet??

    • +1

Original post says it takes 2-7 days to be confirmed from the shipping notification.

    • +1

Confirmed, paid out, and in my bank account. Not from this deal, yet, of course

    • Got my invoice and egift card, still no tracking on the Cashrewards app. I feel more secured with Shopback, tracking appears almost instantly, and indicating "calculating" with status of "pending", at least to let you know something happened.

      • +1

I've generally found CR better personally. So YMMV

  • bought one airpods pro 2 and one apple watch se , should have 10% cash back and 160 gc

  • If I use the account balance plus 8 gift cards, is it eligible for cashback?

    • Redeem the gift cards first, they pay with the total balance.

  • +2

Just got an email that my Apple purchase has been tracked in cashrewards. 75 days for approval.

Purchased at 6.40am this morning. Gift card received at 7.20am and picked my purchase up from the store at 11.45am.

    • yeah me too, but ordered about 3.5hrs ago.
must have emailed a batch out

    • Same here just got Cashrewards confirmation for both items ordered. About 6.5 hrs after I received the e-invoice from picking up the items from the store.

      Still waiting for ShopBack one.

    • What's the amount of cashback as per tracking?

      • $20.27 for the Apple Pencil 2 at $219 RRP

Not quite 10% before GST so not sure how they calculated that number.

        • +3

          [ ($219 - $40) / 1.10 ] + $40 = $202.72727

          $202.72727 * 10% = $20.27

  • If it’s okay to ask, any of you guys looking to sell your gift cards ?

    • I’m looking to buy your future ones

      • +1

        future

My 6th grade teacher told me that I don’t have one..

        • +1

It’s vitally important to set realistic expectations as early as possible. That said, I’ve found that most teachers don’t understand the finer points of extrapolation

  • place an order, paid, order went through, how long would it take to receive the gift card? will it send by email, i.e. digital GC?

    • It is a digital GC sent via email. I got mine ~7 hours after ordering (a little after midnight).

    • Got mine 40mins after ordering

  • +3

Update: Apple Cashback just tracked and is rolling in now to many others. Cashback is based on full purchase price

  • +1

my cash back was tracked for the $80 gift card only, anyone got this issue?

    • Yes me too. I bought two items that each had $80 gift card back at 11:30am, for pickup at 7pm. Received invoices for the gift cards within an hour, invoice for the actual goods at pickup.

Cashrewards only tracked $160 rather than $1118 LOL.

      • Do you just raise a query with cashreward to resolve this?

        • Yes, I did that and got a useless reply saying "I can see it's been partially tracked but please wait the full 2-7 days for the rest to track and send us the shipping confirmation if it still hasn't tracked."

I don't think I've ever had a situation where the rest of the order tracked days later so I'm fairly certain it's tracked wrong and this is just pushing the issue down the road. Plus I chose pick up so there was no shipping confirmation.

I'll wait for the full period and send them the invoices, but things seem to go wrong really often with Cashrewards.

          • @lint: Cheers thabks for sharing

    • I ordered 2 items in the same order, Cashback tracked for the 1st item shipped only 🤯

      • Updated Utimaticalky to $100 cb, fantastic

  • I don’t know what is going on. I can’t get through the checkout. When I click “review your order” nothing happens.
    Same on different devices.

  • +1

Yet to receive the Cashback (ordered just after midnight) but will wait and see, hopefully it’s the full $100

There seems to be some additional charge to my CC which I can’t seem to reconcile (paid a mixture of GC and CC).. transactions are still ‘pending’ but will see in a couple days time

  • +2

Here is how cashback is calculated:

    Cashback = 10% * [(RRP - gift card value)/1.10 + (gift card value)]

Thanks to @raykim for helping me learn

    • +1

That makes mathematical sense and better than expected in that the GC amount is also included. Wish mine had followed that formula!

  • I want to buy a laptop for uni and i'm thinking of a macbook air M1 base model but, I'm not sure if this is the best deal so far for it. Shall I wait or pull the trigger?
and, is MBA M1 base model the best value laptop at the moment?
Sorry for the noob questions, I have a tight budget and if I do purchase a laptop I have to keep it for more than 7 years.
    Thanks

    • I'd look at the used market :)

  • So funny, purchased an Apple watch SE and cashback tracked as 10% of $142.73 spent…….any idea how did this calculated? Paid in full with $400 giftcards + $49 account balance.

    • Same. No idea how they arrived at that figure. I’d have expected it to be the same as the AirPods Pro 2 calculations OP provided above, given it’s the same price and GC amount.

    • I bought the 40mm version with $399 account balance but also got the same amount of cashback. On invoice - value per unit: $362.73; extended value: $290 (290 + GST 29 + Promotional gift card 80 = 399); price includes redeemed coupon of: $72.73. It's hard to figure out the math.

    • FYI I submitted enquired about this and the amount was updated to AUD $362.73. Status is still pending though.

  • Wtf does Apple even have basic accounting and primary school math knowledge!!!???
Bought a Mac air m1 at 1499 (240 bonus gift card for black Friday event)
Paid with Apple account balance 250 + remaining from credit card 1249
Now credit card showing as charged for 1249 + a gift card charge of 240
    My total out of pocket should be 1499! Not the current 250 + 1249 + 240 !
Apple, you need to improve your staff’s basic math knowledge.
Damn now gotta go thru all the trouble to call Apple (outside support business hours now)

    Please don’t stuff up my $100 cashreward…

    • Yep, something similar on my end when I bought my M2 MBA.. paid GC + CC, ended up getting charged an additional $59. Hopefully you’ll get to reverse the charge. I’m heading into the Apple Store on Sunday so will try and sort mine out.

And hope the CR CB comes in.. still waiting. Almost 24 hours

    • Same here, Apple charged an additional amount for the bonus gift card. Did you get Apple to reverse the charge? It’s showing pending on my credit card. Seems like Apple Support is only weekdays 9-5 sigh

    • +2

Called Apple support this morning and was told the incorrect 240 charge for the gift card is just floating on the CC transaction list. It will be reversed and disappeared from the list in 24-48 hours. Apple acknowledged it’s a know system error/confusion.
Will see. Hope this helps others.

      • Thanks for letting us know! I will wait then 👍

        • Not sure if Apple said so to me because I called them or everyone needs to call Apple to report incorrect charge first. Hopefully Apple is not that stupid. I would suggest you at least to monitor your account and follow up with Apple if nothing happens after 24-48 hours. Can’t believe it Apple still doesn’t state clearly and fix the issue when so many customers are impacted.

          • @bigCake: You are not alone.

I paid total amount by 6 GCs, and showing "Your order is on hold. There's an issue with your payment"
After called for several times, the staff cannot find the reason, and escalated to payment team for review.

It was fixed on Friday night, but now on hold again.

          • @bigCake: Thanks @bigCake. My CC charge has come through correctly now - it’s showing two transactions with one amount for the bonus GC and one amount for the product minus GC amount.

            • @Yumeka222: Did you contact apple to fix this? What contact number are you guys dailing?

  • I’d rather buy through ShopBack with 6.5% cashback. Last time it took me a few months to get my cash back approved by Cashrewards when I bought the MBA with the uni offer early this year.

    • +1

I don’t mind waiting for the CB to be paid, not a whole lot of money.. just as long as it’s captured.

      • The issue is that you have to keep it in mind and keep chasing them. They said they needed to get their commission first so that they could approve your cashback. It took me 4 months to get the money finally. Capturing does not mean the cashback will be finally approved. It can be later declined.

        • Fair enough, 4 months isn’t reasonable. I’ve been lucky so far in terms of not getting the CB declined (as long as it gets recorded), but agree its way too long for the approval. Oh well

  • Cashback rate is 6% now from cashrewards, but didn't see anything regarding Cap. Does it mean more than $100 cashback for buying macbook pro at RRP $2299?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Thanks. I bought $2299 MBP at 10% cashback but capped, I think I will cancel the order.

  • +2

For the people who have got cash back, how long to wait for the tracking appeared? My one is 24 hours, still no tracking. BTW I have not collect the order yet

    • +2

Same here. Haven’t received the confirmation from CR.

    • +1

I haven't either. I'd give it a few days before contacting them.

    • +1

Mine came through within 24 hours of ordering, less than 12 of collecting it, but as with some others who got the SE watch tracking is not for the right amount.

Actually I’d be interested to know if anyone who ordered the watch actually did get the expected tracking amount.

      • +2

I purchased the Apple se watch 24 hours ago, no tracking yet. Normally use PC browser and cr normally tracks ok…. Few mentions that cr app tracks best…. So I used this for Apple Watch…. No tracking yet…. Maybe I will stick pc browser lol

        • +2

Yeah the app’s always worked well for me. This weird amount being tracked seems to be an issue with this particular item (Apple Watch SE).

    • Ditto. Bought iPad Air 5th Gen and Magic Keyboard (delivery) via the cashrewards app. Been 24hrs now and still no tracking. Fingers crossed it comes through!

      • CR tracking came through after Apple shipped the order phew

    • bought airpods at 8pm and still waiting for gift card, CR.

      • +1

Bought over 24 hours ago, will wait for tracking, as may have to wait 2 or so but still don’t have the gift card. I thought that was meant to arrive ASAP?

        • Gift cards will only be sent once your order has been shipped
Mine arrived one hour later after dispatched

          • @BargainsGrabber: Ahhh ok I must have overlooked this. Mine has not been sent afaik come on Cashrewards…..

    • From my current order and previous orders, I only get the cashrewards/Shopback email after I collected and received my e-invoice.

    • same… still not tracking….

  • $100 cap is worse than current 6% cashback rate for any transaction over $1667.

Hopefully cashrewards could make it better.

    • +1

They tried to attract most people with $100 cap. And then offer sweeter lollies to capture the hesitating people with bigger spending amount.

Cashrewards is getting worse. The 6% is even lower than shopbacks.

  • Pls forgive me if I ask a silly question here: for the gift card, it didn’t have barcode, only pin. So if want to be used online, it must be redeemed into apple account first or no need? If go to shop, can I only spend part of it? For example, $80 card, only spend $50, then where is rest $30 left to since it doesn’t have physical card? Never use this kind of Apple Card before. Thx

    • I assume you’re talking about the digital Apple Gift Card. It functions as a normal physical Apple Gift Card which also doesn’t have a barcode, just a string of letters and numbers.

If you go to the Apple Store to buy something, the staff can scan it (the string of letters and numbers) with their POS device.

If you wanna use it online, you have to redeem it to your Apple Account Balance first.

If you go to the Apple Store, you can use part of it, the remaining amount will just be stored in the card, just like a physical one. You can choose to redeem the rest of it to your Apple Account Balance, or just let it sit in your digital Apple Gift Card.

If you use it online, obviously the rest of the amount will just sit in your Apple Account Balance.

      • Thanks so much and really appreciate! So kind and it is very clear :)

      • You can use the digital gift card by itself online just as you can in-store, but it's just easier to add it to your Apple Account balance first.

  • My cashback hasn’t tracked yet. Bought AirPods Pro 2 at 12:47pm, order was shipped at 7:34pm

  • just got email cashback has been tracked from Apple AUD 370.00 for air pods pro 2

  • Also just got my $100 CB (phew!) for my M2 MBA. It was the full amount less GST.

  • A question here, hope some experts can answer: I got a watch SE 44 starlight GPS from Apple store, it has model no MNLA3ZP/A, but in all other vendors like JB, the Good Guys, Officeworks, they all have MODEL: MNJX3ZP/A, why difference? Doesn't make sense

  • +1

Anyone still waiting for tracking? I ordered quite late (~10:30PM) on Friday via app, got shipping notification/invoice Sunday midnight.

    • Same here I think around the same time, no tracking, starting to wonder…..
