OP, did you ever have drift issues? And how long have you been using your joycons?
I used the Switch for a decent amount for the first few months (I have a release version Switch, about 5 years old) and admittedly didn't use it very often after a few months until my wife became addicted to Animal Crossing, did not experience noticeable drift with either Joy-con pair after several hundred hours of this however I have since changed the joysticks with white ones from Aliexpress (along with Animal Crossing themed shell) so probably not long enough to start seeing problems.
Maybe we're lucky, I know people who see drift within a few weeks of heavy use. YMMV.

I'm seeing Dec 8 for purple/orange and Dec 12 for green/pink on free Amazon Prime delivery. Maybe they've updated, or maybe it is based on warehouses that they're located at vs delivery location.

Will these eventually start to drift? My OG ones have started to drift after a few years so im looking to replace. I play mostly docked but lately handheld for pokemon
Yes they will. Keep your receipt for warranty purposes.

I don't think it can be avoided due to their design, if you're at all confident to disassemble the Joy-cons you can find the joysticks themselves on Ali-express for very cheap (just be prepared to receive them in several weeks or more).
There are various guides on Youtube and iFixit, certainly beats $90-120 for new Joy-cons, but there is obviously risk.
A couple of quick sprays of electrical contact cleaner (best to not overdo it) will usually do the job.
Also without having to open up the Joy Cons and potentially damaging any of the ribbon cables.
Good to know, ribbons are a nightmare to get back in, especially in the one of the Joy-con. I had to take a break and come back to it I was getting so frustrated lol.
I don’t believe Nintendo has done any revisions to the Joy-Con design. It will inevitably drift due to its flawed design
When my release joycons started drifting, I got some WD electrical contact cleaner https://www.bunnings.com.au/wd-40-290g-specialist-fast-dryin… . Seems to do the job well enough, drift comes back maybe once a year and then I just reapply.

Will these be any use for Nintendo Switch Lite?
You can pair them to a Switch Lite and any other Switch compatible controller (Pro etc.) the only downside being is you can't charge them on the Switch itself, you'll need a charging dock for Joy-cons or similar.

Not the best deal but not bad.
I have the normal switch and its pretty good, however I play it both hand held on through the TV. If you were mainly playing it handheld the OLED is much nicer to look at.

Unfortunately yeah, Australia tax, Nintendo tax and the slew of (arguably) useless features such as an IR camera, NFC reader/writer, haptic feedback and gyroscope make them constantly pricey.
I do wish they'd atleast dropped a bit since their release, been out for over 5 years now.

We've just gone through our 2nd pair. Replaced the joysticks in the first one but then battery died shortly after. Most disappointing part of the switch. I would recommend using alternate controllers where possible and keeping the joycons for games that require them.
