Was just about to post myself! Scored $30 credit with Messina Gelato for $10 šŸ˜‹. Not a first time user either.

    • thanks … running low of messina vouchers

      • +1

No worries. Also, you can now buy more than one voucher for any business. You can only use the promo code once, but you can buy another ā€˜buy $20, get $20 freeā€™ voucher.

    • Added the promo code but no $10 discount for food dollars for Messina (it also doesn't have the lightning symbol).

Did perhaps purchase from a different vendor with a similar name i.e. Gelatissimo which does have the lightning symbol?

      • Iā€™m in Sydney, may be different for different places?

        • It's working now thanks.

        • No lightening for me too in Sydney but I already have a few fooddollars there.

  • Got charged the full amount when purchasing Gotcha

    • +2

Did you buy from merchant with the "lightning" symbol? If not, it's not part of the promo.

    • maybe can seek help from their customer service?

    • same lol

  • Strange, I donā€™t see the lightning bolt symbol on any restaurant. Anyone know where this is symbol is for each restaurant?

    • Keep scrolling down, the first few merchants don't have that lightning symbol, but further down there are plenty.

      • I scrolled down heaps but still canā€™t see it. Is the symbol displayed next to the restaurant name?

        • Change city then back to ur city works for me

          • @tinx: I on the phone app and canā€™t see the option to change city. Do you know where is this?

I did log out of my account and logged back in but still no bolt symbol.

Is the symbol displayed next to the restaurant name?

            • +1

@ilovefullprice: Go back to promo codes. Click on the promo. There is a link for choose a restaurant.

              • @tinx: Ah I know now where I have gone wrong. This promo only applies to Foodollars restaurants, not all restaurants.

Could see the bolts now under Foodollars restaurants.

                Thanks again.

            • +1

@ilovefullprice: Have you redeemed the code first? Go to your account and redeem the code first.

              • @double_J: Ah I know now where I have gone wrong. This promo only applies to Foodollars restaurants, not all restaurants.

Could see the bolts now under Foodollars restaurants.

                Thanks again.

  • nice one op

  • need Krispy Kreme half price deals ā˜¹ļø

  • Code worked for me! And can see a bunch of stores with the Lightning symbol~

Also funny seeing so many random pink unicorns everywhere

  • Yay, some more free Ben & Jerry pints my way šŸ˜‹

  • +9

So it's not exactly $10 off, you also get $10 less credit, but then you get more bonus credit in proportion of the credit you purchase.
e.g. if previously it costs $20 (bonus $5) for $25 credit, now it would be $10 (bonus $5) for $15 credit.

    • +1

Yes can confirm, bought thinking it was $10 off

    • +4

I think it just deduct the cost of the food dollar package, but the bonus is remain unchange
eg. for the package of $10 + $10 bonus (you spend $10 and get $20)
with this offer now it become $0 + $10 bonus, so free $10 food dollar (you spend $0 and get $10)

  • The restaurant I was looking at had $20 pack with bonus $10. I.e. $30 credit for $20

After applying the code, this became $20 credit for $10.

So U pay $10 less but also get $10 less in credit..

    • +1

wtf I'm not saying you're wrong but how is this a deal? lol you're getting (in credit) what you paid for?

      • +2

I still get $10 bonus credit, the promo simply made the initial payment amount lower.
$10 off is a bit misleading

        • +1

yeah. Basically paying less for the bonus. Misleading

  • The $10 is for buying food dollars, where you put promotion you can press the code to show a list of participating restaurants.

  • +6

Funhouse Malatang has $10 bonus $10, with the code you will pay zero and get $10 credit

  • Can anyone check if Gotcha is included as part of the lightning deal? Got charged the full amount and $10 has been redeemed šŸ˜£

    • It is it but the deal isnā€™t very clear.

Original deal, pay $30, get $15 bonus.
With the promo, you pay $20, get $15 bonus.

What do you mean $10 has been redeemed?

      • Means I paid $20 for the deal that should have included the $10 off but didn't. Then I go to apply the promo code again and it says that it has already been redeem.

        • Read what I wrote again.

  • Best to combine with a $10 for $10 deal, then you actually get $10 for free

  • +2

I don't recommend using Liven as they are very misleading when applying the credit.

I applied a new customer promo code to give me a $10 credit. When paying at the restaurant, the app showed the final price with the credit applied but when it charged my credit card they charged the full price.

When querying with support they argued that i wasn't a new customer and left it at that.

    • +1

I had this happen to me when I first used Liven. They ended up crediting me with $10 for future purchases. Try hitting up the chat again and see if you can get someone else who might be a bit more helpful.

    • +4

      While Liven is sometimes confusing
It does helped me to save quite a lot in the past
Bought a $500 + $500 package to spend in Master Lanzhou and have spent all the credits in the last 2 years
Those $1 +$1 food dollars are real deal imo

      • Same here, still have $300 credit with Master Lanzhou

  • +1

Good deal if you can use it. Been on the Liven chat the past couple of days complaining about two merchants both saying their Liven device is broken and they are waiting for Liven to provide them with a new one. One would think such a device would just be a phone with an app?!

    • Thatā€™s how itā€™s been in the past/whenever Iā€™ve used it.

    • +4

The merchants certainly can just use an app… Sounds like they're being lazy.
      https://help.liven.com.au/en/articles/6462606-merchant-help#ā€¦

      • +2

Or they fund promos and donā€™t want to accept it?

I know one merchant that has lunch deals but clearly states you canā€™t pay with liven for it.

        • I've had no problems with Krispy Kreme, Kurtosh, Spago, Bubble Nini, and Toastie Smith. I guess just list places which say their machines are broken so we can avoid buying those foodollars

  • -8

    Wth?
I bought $10 get $5 bonus, paid $10, got $15 in the end. So what's the point?

    • +1

Was your $10 spend discounted from its original $20? The point is youā€™ve spent $10 less to get the same amount of bonus.

    • Has to be venue with lightning symbol

    • I had the same experience. Used on a lightning venue. The Foodollar deal showed ā€œBuy 10 get $5 Bonusā€.

At the top of the app thereā€™s a blue banner saying $10 credit applied to deal.

It charged $10 on my credit card and now I have $15 total liven Foodollars to use at the venue.

If you go and try to buy more Foodollars from the same venue, you will see the deal is now ā€œBuy $20 get $5 Bonusā€ which was the original deal (ie 25% bonus) before auto applying the $10 promo credit.

So you did get the $10 credit in the form of a discount.

They could have been clearer if they showed the original $20 crossed out with $10 discount applied.

Confusing at first but nothing dodgy here.

      • +2

I bought a $20 package and on my screen it showed the original $20 crossed out and new amount $10.

  • -7

    what's this?…
    foodora rebranded?

  • +6

Is liven in a good financial state? A bit spooked by the deliveroo collapse, which has made me a bit gunshy in keeping balances in apps

    • The restaurant seems to hold your balance, although Liven offer the payment platform (and a guarantee if the restaurant permanently closes).

      • +1

If Liven goes under, can you really go to the restaurant to claim your fooddollar balance? seems doubtful

        • +2

Yep, all your fooddollar most likely going to be a goner. Just buy the credit on the day you're dining.

  • +2

You can pay with your Special (foodie) gift cards, as Liven is billed by the restaurant (for extra discount if you got promos on Special cards).

    • Thanks for the tip!

    • Sorry how does this work? I thought you had to use Liven app to pay?

      • +3

I thinkā€¦ Use Apple Pay as payment method. Add special card as one of the cards on Apple Pay. Is that right?

        • Thanks šŸ™

        • That's correct

          • +2

@Lukian: PS: Also works with Restaurant GC.

        • Which special cards, fine foodie? Pub crawler? Or the latte one?

    • What are Special cards?

  • Liven? Never heard of it… is it worth it?

    • +1

It's good if you refer friends. Both get $10 credit.

There are select shops. It works like cashback for restaurants.

      • -1

        You want $10 mate?

    • +3

You can't lose. There are no membership fees or anything. The prices are not jacked up like on other apps. My favourite food app

    • +2

Been using it a few years already. Definitely worth it IMO.

      • How's it work? Do they deliver, they have their own drivers?

        • +4

This is not delivery service platform. It's payment method when you buy (dine in/take away), instead of paying with your credit/debit card, you pay with liven app and get cashback, similar to shopback & cashreward system.

Since Covid, they introduce foodollar, buying individual credit from merchant in advance with extra bonus credit. Each merchant has different bonus. For example: back then we can buy $50 Krispy Kreme credit and get extra $50 (total $100). When KK has promotion, you can pay with this credit via liven app, so it's even better deal.

          • +1

            @double_J: I like Eatclub better

            • @Poor Ass: I have eatclub but rarely use it really. I guess each to their own and also depends on where you live

              • @double_J: Ya it's like most of the places I eat are 15-20% cash off when I pay.

    • Remember to use referral codes from here when signing up!

  • So if I buy Mamak $15 and get bonus $5, with this deal I will actually pay $15 and have $20 credit to use?

What if the item is $21, does the $1 come off a linked credit card?

    • +1

Yes, anything over your credits are covered by a linked payment method (Apple Pay, credit/debit card, etc.).

  • -1

The funny part is I thought I bought $20 get $20 bonus would be $40 in total credit, turns out itā€™s $30, so what is the point use the promo code?
If itā€™s the promo code $10+$10 out of pocket=$20 kind of I paid no mater how I pay, I still should have $20 credit n plus $20 bonus, but they tried so much not to honor the $10 promo code to the creditšŸ¤£

    • -1

Agreed. They are hopeless. I messaged them about how I should be getting $23 with the $10 promo instead I got $13. Back and forth they have no idea what theyā€™re talking about.

      • I ended up picking the cheapest deal to get the full $10 (100% bonus on $10 with $10 discount)

    • +1

It works nicely with the $50 for $100 deals. $40 for $90 dollardoos is a better discount.

    • You got 100% bonus credit instead of 50%… That's the point in using this promo code. See it as this. If the original price was spend $10 get $10 and now it's spend $10 get $20, you're getting $10 for free. So the coupon is doing what it claims.

      • Only if it's a 100% bonus credit. For example, if it was 50% bonus, then normally, $10 spend get $15 total credit. With code, $0 spend get $5 total credit

        • For sure. I was using the example he provided. A better way to put it is "it saves you $10"

        • Think of it in percentage savings.

Original deal: pay $20 get bonus $20 (total credit gained = $40)
          Savings is 20/40 =50%

With promo: pay $10 get bonus $20 (total credit = $30)
          Savings is 20/30= 66%

Best ones are the $10 get bonus $10 (becomes free) or $15 get $15 bonus (becomes $5 for total $20 credit with promo, 15/20 savings=75%)

  • Thanks for sharing op! Worked for me (:

  • Thanks! Paid $10 & received $30 to spend at Shujinko Ramen.

  • can you use more than once?

    • answered my own q - this promo code has already been redeemed

      • No you canā€™t. But you can buy more than one voucher at the same business.

        • true but i couldnt buy at Hella good - seems i have reached cap eventhough I don't have any

  • Nice find op!

Where did you find this code?

    • I got an email from them with the code as an existing user

  • How is Liven making money??

    • +1

They take a cut from restaurant but I agree with all the promos, Iā€™m sure itā€™s a loss leader.

Happy to use it where I can, itā€™s a win for me as I would spend my money at the same restaurants with or without liven.
