    DQHD resolution is 5120x1440

I'm not sure how people are using ultra-wides like this for productivity without the vertical real estate - most documentation, Web pages, spreadsheets, code are all far more useful with more vertical space than these can provide.

    • it is basiclaly 2 x 24inch side by side like many office set ups. So it is actually very good for productivity.

Not compared with a 43". And if you're paying $1.5k per 24" you have more money than sense…

It's 2 x 27 inches. I haven't used one personally, but having used a 32 inch UHD display for 6 years now, the 6 cm or so of extra vertical space 32" provides over 27" is rarely beneficial to me, while extra width always is. The low pixel density on these models, however, is a deal-breaker for me when it comes to productivity, and I have read that the 1000R curvature on the G9 is more difficult to get used to for productivity than the more gentle curve of the CRG9. I personally think the prices both the CRG9 and G9 are going for are still extremely high given the 2x 4K ("8K") model announced for early next year at the AMD event and the serious issues the G9 Neo is still plagued with this long after launch.

I'm running a 34" 3440x1440 as my primary monitor, using Display Fusion to split it half, so two windows side by side. When I'm doing design work I'll often have my design program full-screen, or a 2/3 to 1/3 split (with the 1/3 used for reference documents/materials). I also often have Trello filling my whole ultrawide when working on a large board with many lists.

I'm then running a 27" 1920x1080 (about to be replaced with a 2560x1440) as my second monitor, turned sideways, split in half again, with one window above the other. Typically Slack down the bottom and a browser window up top.

For me, this is the perfect setup. Most things I do for work involve looking at three or four windows/apps, but I rarely need an extra long/tall window (and when I do I can fullscreen on my secondary monitor). I definitely get more benefit by having more windows open at once, rather than one or two taller windows.

    • could not agree more. going from 2 x 27" 4k to a 38" 3840x1600 has been difficult, let alone 1400.

If you have access to the govt employee discount, it's even sweeter @ $2,184.05

    • Same deal with education pricing.

Availability for ordering may be spotty though - I noticed this deal yesterday and it went unavailable during the day (asking to sign up for stock notifications). It was available to order again this morning, but Samsung have yet to send me that restock email.

The Ark is on deal too for around 3799 on EDU store.

The Ark is the monitor to get, you get that extra vertical real estate again as well as the vertical position if that's your thing, it wouldn't be mine but each to their own. It's just the price I can't get past. It's a shame they have no competition. Those specs at this deal's price and I'd be all over it.

      • I agree that it's a shame about the competition - I've had a 43" screen for seven or eight years and I've been waiting for something slightly bigger that's also curved pretty much ever since I got it, because the distance to the edges of the screen are a lot further than the middle at the ~1m I sit from it, which makes the screen appear convex. So I was very excited by the Ark for, oh I don't know, ten minutes? And then I read about its VA panel, and I was out. A VA panel for $4k? Talk about taking the @#$%. Considering LG, Corsair and others are releasing 240Hz large format OLED monitors in the next few months (45GR95QE-B and 45WQHD240, respectively), Samsung need to go back to the drawing board with their own 240Hz OLED panel if they expect their screen will attract that sort of coin.

Be very wary buying from Samsung store, had a 75" tv was DOA, had to fight tooth and nail to get a replacement rather than wait months for repair.

    • I'm going through the same thing with a 75 inch tv as well. It's been two months and they won't replace it….

      • If that is the case, might as well take your chances on the PRISM+ one ;p~

I purchased one of these monitors back in September from the Samsung Store. This monitor is one of the best pieces of PC hardware i've ever had. I've run double, triple monitor setups before and the G9 Neo is SO MUCH BETTER…. I cant see myself going back anytime soon. Use for Work From Home, Gaming etc. For those whinging about vertical space, i dont get it…. at all. I run three windows side by side and never had a issue that cant fit enough "vertically" on the screen.

Having said that, my experience with the Samsung store was a (profanity) nightmare. If you want this i'd put on my best negotiating voice and go and try and get Harvey Norman to price match and drive home with the monitor then and there… Samsung online store is horrendous, shipping sucks. I got close to cancelling my order and just going to pay full price so i didnt have to deal with Samsung anymore.

  • I'm on my second version of this monitor and while it is beautiful i cannot really recommend it. My first was purchased from Harvey Norman on july 1st and it developed a daily 'colour out' where it would suddenly display a rainbow and required powering off to resolve. I contacted Samsung to get a return authorisation for Harvey Norman and they sent a tech out to confirm the issue and issued me a return. I was able to swap for a new unit on the 3rd of November with Harvey Norman and this unit has just developed a whited out line spanning horizontal through the center of the screen. Both companies have been good to deal with during this process but the fact that two units have developed issues leaves a sour taste.

  • Can this be purchased by education store?
