Sipiks have it written on the side, this one is not pictured. I have had 2 copy cat sipiks with 1 flickers to dull from new and another manufacturers one that lasted nearly an hour before doing the same. I paid the little bit extra and order a real sipik SK68 a few days back. The reviews on those are great. These same folks have them http://www.verosale.com/Sipik-SK68-mini-adjustable-zooming-l…
I would go for the real thing.
Pay $4 more when ordering to add a 14500 battery & charger! So $13.20
But light output specs are lower: 100-240Lumen
I just bought one. When you check out, if you want the "3 modes", you add another $0.20 to it. I think standard, it just comes with one mode. Still at AUD$6.79 its cheap as chips for a pocket sized Q5 light that uses AA battery. My $0.2 worth.
Nearly 500 choices in torches on that site - still ordered this deal in 3 mode.
Tempted to also get a 18650 3600mah 3.7V battery to get the most light out of it for $5.60.
Had given away my new $5.17 Cree Q3 focusing torch tonight http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72093, so was looking for an upgrade.18650 is a very big battery to fit into a AA-sized torch. At most, maybe an 18500 might fit, but i suspect it might still be too fat
I agree, 14500 will fit, not 18650.
Just fitted the 14500 in a similar Cree Q3 as detailed below. Had a few 400mAh ones sitting around in $2 DS solar powered garden lights!
You are right - only the 14500 will fit. Lucky I didn't order the 18650.
Thats the beauty of OB - being corrected when wrong! Thanks!!So the largest capacity 14500s they stock are a tiny capacity 1200mAh $6.50.
http://www.verosale.com/Ultrafire-14500-1200mah-3-6V-Li-ion-…2x 900mAh batteries & travel charger for $9 delivered (Over charge and discharge protection). http://www.verosale.com/2pcs-UltraFire-14500-900mah-3-6V-Rec…
For $13.20 you get probably a better Sipik sk68 mini-torch, 14500 battery $ charger http://www.verosale.com/Sipik-SK68-mini-adjustable-zooming-l…
CREE lights are very bright. I have one. They're really good. Just don't look directly into it… it's like looking into the sun. I feared I might have permanent vision impairment after that.
Apparently there are copies of this Sipik torch kicking around, but if this is the real McCoy it's an amazing little torch and maybe the best thing you'll ever buy for under ten bucks. Go with the single mode version unless you can convince yourself you need the three. If it's a 'cycle through' and not a proper 'last mode memory' job it'll end up getting on your nerves.
Good points. I wanted the 3 mode version - as most of the time I don't need a bright light but want the longer use time of a lower setting. Have been using 'cycle through' switches on head torches for over a decade, so am used to them. Never thought of them as 'getting on your nerves', but have never had need of the flashing mode. Still, memory mode would be nice - but would probably cost more than 20c extra.
$5.87 delivered from sungmart not long ago. just reading the comments, it does appear that this is a Sipik.
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73018Saw that - only single mode & us$7.72 now.
One thing i don't like is the "down from 9.99" when google cache shows you normally sell it for $7.90.
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:HTY2JBd…
This one looks the same $5.98 delivered -
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7W-300LM-Mini-CREE-LED-Flashlight…
Currency is AU,so no conversion issues.Seems better bargain if only want only single mode!
Just ordered two, have been keeping an eye out for these going on sale
I think we just had this flashlight on special for $5.87
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73018
Wonder why they keep discounting it ?By the way, its $6.50USD not AU so with the 3mode, it worked out to AU$6.90 at checkout
Ah, you paid Paypal or the dealer for the conversion! Since Aussie$ is worth more than us$, that is a rip off! Could save on all your Paypal purchases by using a free 28Degrees Mastercard with no Foreign Currency Fee - as is often quoted on OB. Then you buy in the local currency & set Paypal conversion to automatically use Mastercard rates without Paypal's conversion Fee & rates. So cost about au$6.57 for the us$6.70 3 mode instead of $6.90. Well thats my 33c worth.
i got one of these last time it was on here for $5
its not that bright on 1 x AA
on a proprietry battery its probably a lot better
but still, great torch for what it is
If anyone finds a DS 100LED light set (bought a few for $2ea a month back) http://dicksmith.com.au/product/HS0400/indoor-outdoor-100-wh… contains a 3.2V 400mAh 14500 LiFeP04 (Lithium iron phosphate) rechargable battery & solar charger. (I described them in http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/70471 - DON'T charge in normal chargers!!!)
By removing the rear screws (no need to put back as can still charge outdoors, & remove battery from spring contact battery bay), you can use to charge the battery & use it in these torches. Handy for camping. Much brighter than a AA, and usually enough for short use. Not bad for $2!
??? Why neg a suggestion for a $2 solar powered rechargable battery for one of these torches? Strange - what is there to disagree with in a suggestion, as long as you find stock of this product.
A few OBers bought these light sets, so thought may be a handy to know & works well in a Q3.
Pop the battery in the solar charger during the day, & in the torch at night when camping.
You may find these batteries in other devices.
Good torch especially since it's one mode, unless you're a cyclist why would you ever use the strobe mode??? However, the battery requirements vary significantly with these torches. Personally, I'd fork out the extra 3 bucks so I can use an 18650 that will last 3 times longer.
3-mode torch is back in stock, still at $6.50 + $0.20, with free shipping.
I particularly wanted a 3-mode, but they sold out before I could purchase. Just ordered one!I would want to be receiving my order in the coming week — "mini zoom CREE Q5 bright flashlight" AUD4.83 - Shipped Friday, four weeks back .. but apparently posting very slowly. Others find anything different?
I might admit at this point, your rival, Meritline, has proven quite more efficient.
Mini Solar Powered 3 LED - received 18/7,
USB 2.0 LED Flexible Light - received 13/7
their end-of-June month dispatches arriving in 'THREE week' referenced time period. So I will be keeping my eyes peeled now, thank you Mr/Ms Vero Sale trader.

Your description says "3 Modes:Srong-Weak-Strobe", but the title says "1-mode". Which is it? And is this the Sipik SK68 flashlight?
