  • Oooh was definitely after this. Thanks for sharing!

  • +2

Does this actually stack with double yums? Edit it works! Might just book a solo lunch for the 4000 yums.

    • apparently yes and you can still book with offers too!

  • wondering if me and my partner can create seperate accounts, make two seperate bookings to earn 2x yums?

    • Assuming you're not booking for the same venue/same time, should be fine.

      • +1

haha I was planning to book same venue/same time, sit on adjacent tables, have a cheap drink and gtfo with the yums. TGIF melbourne central has the double yums promo. easy $200

  • How do you actually redeem the $$ off on your next booking though?

    • Find a Yum spendable restaurant. Make booking using Yum points. That's it. When you go to pay, they'll have the discount when presenting the bill. Or if they haven't automatically, mention it to them and they'll discount (happened once to me). Similar to Entertainment Book in some ways.

      • Thanks. The pub I go to makes you order and pay using a QR code at the table. Weird.

      • There are not many places accepting yums in some locations, but just check your local options with search on app/website

        • +1

True, limited selection especially on weekends however another possibility is if you plan to travel to Europe, you'll get a €50 discount. See here.

          • @neil: Just to clarify, it was either €25 or €50, depending on the location and restaurant. €25 was more often the case in Spain, Italy and France, whereas I found €50 more prevalent in Germany, Austria. Still very handy when traveling and needing to eat out every night!

  • Cheers neil, booked Hunter and Barrel for 4,000 bonus yums, and using the Restaurant Choice gift card that had a $40 discount :D

    • +2

      Been there, average at best

      • +2

Eh, 4.3/5 from 866 reviews on Google, 4/5 from 94 reviews on Trip Advisor

And at $70 for a 3-course lunch for 2 including drinks, with a further $100 to spend later on… I'm prepared to take my chances

      • +2

We've been twice and enjoyed both times. Nice ambience too!

    • Yums now in my account, and lunch was yum 🙂 cheers again @neil

  • Booked for à la carte' menu, do you just rock up to the place and show them the email?

    • Don't need to show them anything. Say you have a booking for yourname. It just shows in their booking system like any other booking you would make (e.g. calling up and making booking).

      • Thanks

  • Am I getting this right?
Book any double yums restaurant today or tomorrow, for a booking any time later…say mid next month.

Buy something cheap ..e.g. a cheap drink.

Receive the 4,000 YUMS within next 3ish days

Then use said yums on a full dinner valued at at least $100? Or can we bank any unused yums for Future use?

    • +2

Book any double yums restaurant today or tomorrow, for a booking any time later…say mid next month.

Yes, not sure how long in the future you can book but you can always stick the code in to test without confirming the final step.

Receive the 4,000 YUMS within next 3ish days

      3 days after the booking.

Then use said yums on a full dinner valued at at least $100? Or can we bank any unused yums for Future use?

You can only use 2000 yums max per booking. So $50 off per booking.

      via Yums page:

How many Yums can you spend?

You can spend a maximum of 2000 Yums per booking, with a $50 discount on the final bill. If the discount is higher than the bill, the restaurant will not pay the difference.

      • Thanks Neil!

      • Hi Neil so to confirm
"I'm going out to eat next week at The Meat & Wine Co, using 2000 yums ($50 off)".

You can still earn 4000 yums on a booking where you use your existing 2000 yums to pay?

Previous post comments are abit mixed.

        • +2

No. If you redeem Yums, you won't be able to collect any points from that same booking. There's been a couple of people who claim that they have "double-dipped", but seems to be extremely rare and I've never seen it.

          • @Charlie Dont Surf: Yea better not risk it especially with 4000 yums at stake.

          • +1

@Charlie Dont Surf: Interesting, as I've always received my bonus points when redeeming my Yums for the same booking. What I've noticed is that the app won't let you even enter a code for bonus points when redeeming Yums, but the desktop version allows it, and it even confirms that you'll receive X amount of points. I've been using this 'tactic' every time there's been a deal like this.

          • +2

@Charlie Dont Surf: My last booking, I used a code to get 1000 yums, and redeemed 4000 yums at the same time

            Both worked fine

            • +1

@spackbace: Thanks, also on desktop for you? I will give it a go. Apologies to @frutter for the bum-steer. Looks like desktop bookings might permit the DD. And who doesn't love DDs?

              • @Charlie Dont Surf: Yeah, most times I'm booking on desktop

              • @Charlie Dont Surf: I've been doing the following for quite some time:

Only book a venue when there's a 1,000 Yum points bonus on, and book using the Yum points redemption choice. (You obviously have to have at least 1,000 Yum points to begin with)

Get the total as close as possible to $20 (the value of 1,000 Yum points). Lemak in Garden City Brisbane, which is normally my go-to, have half-decent meals for $10 all day.

Pay for the meal using the 1,000 Yum points. A $20 order would be free. Anything over, you just pay the difference.

Receive 1,000 Yum points in 3 days' time.

                REPEAT

My partner also has a TheFork account, so essentially we can order up to $40 worth of free food if dining together but ordering separately.

                • @wcm8382: Thanks mate. The last few times I tried to redeem Yums and use a promo code simultaneously (yes, this was overseas using The Fork app) it failed to go through. So it seems like there might be a little hack using the desktop site? I will try this later today for a booking. Free meal and +2000 points (net)!

                  • @Charlie Dont Surf: Like most loopholes, TheFork may eventually end up patching it up (or is it even a loophole, who knows?), but enjoy it while it lasts.

If you want to go even further and triple dip, find a venue that accepts Payo or Liven to pay for the out-of-pocket difference.

Lemak in Garden City Brisbane, for example, is a participating venue for Liven, and you can get a 20% cashback in the form of Liven points. I haven't personally tried it here as I normally just stay within the $20.

Do note that some venues won't allow the use of such method of payments in conjunction with the TheFork offer, bit it never hurts to try. Every bit helps nowadays.

                    • +1

@wcm8382: Yes, can confirm it worked via the desktop site. Hope it flows through to Yums, as we generally save these redemptions for when we travel!

            • @spackbace: @spackbace

redeem 4000 yums in one go? how? max we can is 2000 (for $50 off) per booking
unless you are talking about 2 bookings?

        • +2

The Meat & Wine Co is bookable on the Fork as well as being a Yum redeemable restaurant.

          So you can

          • book using BLACKFORKDAY22 to get 2000 points.
          • book using BLACKFORKDAY22 to get 2000 points and use their double Yums promo to get 4000 points.
          • redeem 1000 points for $20 off or 2000 points for $50 off. You can't use a code when redeeming Yums.

I'm doing the latter and stacking with a Best Restaurant Gift card that I have.

  • They made it so you can't book a table for one

    • Just book for two and say your date stood you up

    • +1

I went to meat and wine under a booking for one last week. The waiter was all like, "dining alone today?" like it was some kind of dig.

      • Should've said you're on work travel so dining alone? Probably odd to be dining by oneself at restaurants like M&W I guess (personally I wouldn't, unless on work)

      • I love dining alone, I've befriended the table next to me and they offered me their wine and we make small talk :)

    • Did they? Seems to work for me.

      • Depends on the time of booking

  • A bit out of topic, but wondering anyone tried to pay in a restaurant that can use up a little bit amount left over of the good food gift card? Dind it a bit annoying cause not that many restaurants can use it and most of them have to pay extra card fees.

  • I want to also redeem my Yums, can we do 2 bookings? 30 minutes apart? One with the code and one to redeem the points?

  • +1

Does cancelling a booking allow you to reuse the bonus code again? I just realised I could get a 4000 yum booking rather than a 2000 yum one for the right places.

    • +1

Yes. Make sure you reuse within the promo period.

  • Also Placie app gave out this one:

Score $20 worth of Yums points^ on The Fork app using the code PLACE1000 (code valid until 31 December 2022).

    • +2

New users only and 1st booking only. If are a new user and can make 2 bookings before end of Tuesday then best to use PLACIE1000 or use a referral link (Also 1000 points), then do BLACKFORKDAY22 for the 2nd booking.

  • Easy, thank you!

I forget these expire, but now I got 4000-5000 yums I need to book somewhere to use them!

  • -1

What happens if I book and don't show up? Do I still get the points?

    • No. That's the point of the booking.

  • can i book 2 booking and get 8000 yums

    • +1

Pretty sure you can only use codes once per account.

      • -1

What if a couple book with 2 different fork account, book a different table (with 1 table per person) in 30 minutes gap. So we can use each of 2000 yums separately. Hence we have to sit in a different table. Please clarify

        • +4

Why stop there? Get some cheap disguises and book a 3rd table, take turns going to bathroom and switching up personas.

  • Not a fan of this actually. Can earn Yums at a few restaurants around me, but restaurants where you can actually spend them is extremely limited.

  • OP, I created an account, then picked a location with DOUBLE YUMS and 30% off the menu.
Applied the code on there, it gave me 2000 yums.

To get the 4kyums, do I have to do the normal A LA Carte?

Edit, yep, I was able to cancel my previous booking and try this out.
So the 30% off and the 4k yums do not stack. Better to go with 4k yums if spend is less than $170ish.

    • It may depend on the particular venue.

I just tried it on a restaurant that offered both booking discount and double Yums. The booking register in the app and the confirmation email both show -30% and 4,000 Yums for the booking.

      • Ah, dam, didn't think of changing the venue. Oh well, too late now, it is what it is.

    • +1

Buy the cheapest reasonable regular item for 4000 Yums

  • just made a booking and received email confirmation with this:

We ask that any cancellation to your reservation be made no less than 24 hours prior. For no shows or late cancellations, you will be subject to fee of $250 per reservation that will be applied to the credit card on file.

seriously? 250 ? why not make it 700

    • Restaurant specific?

      • yeah must be but a bit excessive i think..

        • Troll them by ordering the absolutely cheapest item :)

  • +3

my strategy is when there is a promo of minimum 1000 bonus yum, we will book table at local pub (decent $17 steak+chips+veg)
then soon enough we will have 2000 yums for dining at good restaurant and end up paying $40 out of pocket.

please dont try to game it, we need to give something so they can keep going

If you wish to return the favour or still feel guilty

      • review the restaurant on The Fork, Meta, Google, Trip Advisor
      • take pictures and post onto the above list
      • let your friends know about good service.
  • Oh no forgot to book, ended so early for Black Friday special!

  • +2

20% off TGI Fridays gift cards here for anyone who booked there: https://www.tgifridays.com.au/gift-cards/

  • Has anyone collected their 2 x 2000 points and redeemed Yums from this latest offer? My booking is for next week.

    • +2

Yes, I've already received my 4,000 points after redeeming my 1,000 Yums (worth $20) for my booking. Paid $55 out-of-pocket after the Yums discount (using my Pub & Bar Gift Card of course), and received 2 x $50 Yums for my next culinary adventure.

  • Can't believe I missed this! I swear it didn't show up on the main page of OzB for me.
