Just get the original.
Keychron K3 or K3 V2 (around $120) or the new K3 Pro
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/keytron/keychron-k3-pro…Options of key switches, RGB (can turn off too).
I like the real original, DAS keyboard.
I have the k3 v2 and love it, no idea how much better this logitech one can be to justify the price.
I also love my K3 V2. I can't imagine this logi to give better feel, you can't swap switches in this. I ordered mine with Optical reds, so it's also quiet.
For the average person I think the Logitech is the better choice.
Main reason being 2.4ghz wireless connection on the Logitech means much better battery life.
The Bluetooth connection on the K series can be flaky and it has much less battery life (with RGB off it's 80 hours vs the Logitech's 10 months or 34 hours vs 15 days with RGB on). Bluetooth delay might also be a problem for gamers but the major problem is the Keychron's bluetooth goes into auto-sleep and when you start typing the first few words don't register. With 2.4Ghz I have never had this sleep issue.
Final reasons which aren't really deal breakers but the built-in lithium battery on the MX Mechanical is behind an easy to access door held on with a screw. So in a few years if the battery dies you can source one and easily replace it. You can do it on the Keychron too it just requires more effort and some might not realise it's possible.
great comment, agree
just wanted to highlight the swapped positions of pgUp/Dn and Home/End between the Keychron K3 models and Logitech mx mech mini.
took me 6 months to get used to this LOL.
There's a new version of the Keychron keyboards with "QMK/VIA" feature support that allows remapping and programming of every key. Might wait for this model.. also noticed RGB/light button on top-right corner.
@DONMAI: that's the Pro version preorder link above.
remapping keys should be straight forward on any keyboard. Gonna try tonight https://au.pcmag.com/keyboards/88427/how-to-remap-your-keybo…
@hippo2s: Yup powertoys allows for remapping of any keyboard keys in Windows. It's host device OS based though so if unplug/connect your keyboard to another device the changes won't carry over.
I wonder why there is hardly any stock of the Clicky model in Australia.
Can't see them sell that well TBH. Especially tactile clicky version…anyone that is serious about tactile, feel, clicky switches would opt for one with swappable switches.
Clicky seems to be the most popular type for mainstream consumers.
e.g. I posted the deal for the new Logitech Aurora series TKL's and at the time of posting 2 out of 3 stores were already out of stock for the Clicky switch version. Which makes me think most of them sold for full price.
Probably the main user for this one is office user, not gamers. it's will be annoying if you use a loud keyboard in an office
Is this deal expired? It's showing $219.
