        • Is that with all credit cards? I know some cards have added features which would cover these situations but what about stock standard Visa or Mastercards?

Also, correct me if I am wrong (and I hope I am) but my reading of PayPal Australian buyer protection is that you can only get your $$ back if you purchased on eBay. Does this sound right?

        • -1

After you guys pull the trigger, you might want to cancel your credit card as it may have been sold to dodgy Nigerians.

        • yes i am never quite sure why people feel more secure paying via paypal - buyer protection is only for ebay.
you can still lodge a complaint directly with paypal or with your credit card company.
But it tends to be a lot easier to pay for these items with a credit card and work with the bank directly. In theory, your bank aren't required to do a chargeback for you - because they paid paypal as you requested - what happened from there on is not their problem.

        • ALL Visa and Mastercard's offer chargeback. Its part of the overall credit card system they (Visa and Mastercard) offer.

So regardless of Paypal, you can initiate a chargeback with your credit card company who will, via MC and Visa international, contact the bank (in this case SoSharp's bank).

However you could try paypal buyer protection first. But check with your credit card company if there is any chargebank expiry period, in the case if Paypal don't get you a refund you can then still go direct to your CC bank. note Paypal would be involved in the chargeback process but your bank/banks merchant has the final say.

I have heard that Visa put more of the onus on the vendor to provide proof, whereas Mastercard may require more proof from the purchaser - but YMMV.

Normally you explain your case and you get the money credited back immediately, BUT if they ultimately rule in the vendors favour you will lose that refund. But they will normally ring you first to go over the dispute if they believe you are not eligible.

  • So I paid via paypal, should I open a dispute via paypal or ring my credit card company (that's linked to my paypal account)?
I'll wait until mid-week for their (panda2u) response before I act on it.

  • My reply from peter mcinnes:

Peter McInnes Pty Ltd is the Australian and New Zealand Distributor for KitchenAid Countertop Appliances. Peter McInnes Pty Ltd distributes KitchenAid to the Consumer through Stockists in Australia and New Zealand.

The Company sosharp that you have named in your email is not a Stockist of KitchenAid products distributed through Peter McInnes Pty Ltd. Any product that was to be purchased through sosharp and any other store selling KitchenAid products that are not distributed by Peter McInnes Pty Ltd would hold no warranty in Australia or New Zealand.

  • Deal is now expired. Let's see if any of us got any response

    • At least the deal closing is progress! At several points on their FB page they have indicated they will make contact with people today. I doubt it, but let's see.

  • According to SoSharp it is still going ahead:
"Yes. Please allow 3-6 weeks time for delivery"

I think I'll wait, I really want this mixer :)

    • The problem is you the voucher is valid for 1 month only. What happens if you haven't got it delivered by then and you're not able to organize a refund cos its past the expiry date?

      • I would have thought the voucher 'expiry' is just in terms of redeeming for the product.
If the deal falls through completely surely a refund is forthcoming.

Not sure at this stage how dodgy they will be, but at least SoSharp reply to emails quite quickly.

  • I posted on facebook for clarification (myrecipestash if anyone was following https://www.facebook.com/SoSharpMelbourne ) and my comments seem to have dissapeared!!

I posted the peter mcinnes reply as well as saying that how can they have sold 7000 + units (according to reports here) with ''extremely unlimited stock''. I expressed my disspointment and said i wouldnt do business again.

Now i am seriously skeptical. Will try through my other facebook account and ring the 1300 number.

  • ALL my comments in that facebook thread were deleted (see the reference to MYRECIPE STASH whereas Myrecipe stash doesnt show any comments :p ) have been blocked and deleted?? I can no longer comment

If you go their facebook page and search for ''hi there, if i purchase a voucher for the kitchen aid, am i guranteed the color of my choice of black or red.'' you will see the series of comments.

    • better do screenshot next time to keep evident :)

  • +1

I've had comments deleted on Facebook also and I have a screenshot as evidence. My comments also made reference to the number of kitchenaids sold, how this doesn't seem to be 'extremely limited stock', and I also asked how a small 'business solutions' organisation from the Barossa got their hands on 7000+ kitchenaids at below Aus cost price.

Comment deleted within minutes. No explanation.

    • Maybe we can keep posting, will they have someone moderating all night? :)

    • I think they are gonna need a bigger boat.
They don't want to admit they have taken too many orders. I bet they are madly trying to make sure the panda dude can source the stock.

They'll start with delays soon - maybe 18 people will get one in 3-6 weeks, the rest of us will be waiting and MAY eventually get one.

      • How much interest would they get from the $2,512,635?

        • close to 6% or $150,000 a year. So about $3000 a week…

maybe hoping to buy a ton from the us and ship?

    • Yeah, if they (target usa) offer free ship locally for spending over $50, I'm sure spending 2.5 MILLION they'll get a supplier to throw in free shipping and rebadging/power supply changes.

    • They are 110v so no dice.

  • This is promising. Just got it in my inbox

"Thank you for your order of Kitchen Aid Mixer. Your order has been received and will be dispatched within the next 6 – 8 weeks. We apologise for any delays as there has been such an overwhelming response we are waiting on a shipping container to arrive from our supplier.

We hope you enjoy your purchase."

    8:12pm AEST

    • Me too

    • I haven't got an email yet but was one of the first to purchase.

Bit worrying. Surely they'd email everyone at once??

  • I just received email reply from Panda2u. It is quite generic, but at least it is something. Finger crossed… (Jakolow beat me to it. Good one :))

    Below is the email:
Thank you for your order of Kitchen Aid Mixer. Your order has been received and will be dispatched within the next 6 – 8 weeks. We apologise for any delays as there has been such an overwhelming response we are waiting on a shipping container to arrive from our supplier.

We hope you enjoy your purchase.

  • +1

For those who paid on PayPal - its not buyer protection that covers you but buyer complaints. Buyer protection only covers eBay purchases, buyer complaints effectively covers all other purchases. You have 45 days from date of payment to lodge your complaint and can do so one two grounds: 1) failure to receive goods or 2) goods significantly different to those described. This is me paraphrasing - have a read of the full details on the PayPal website. I suspect it would be an easy claim with so many people making the same claim at the same time. But I wouldn't claim through PayPal yet - cant realistically have expected to have received it this soon!!

    • -1

Guys this is where we will have a problem. Paypal gives us 45 days before we can make a complaint. The goods won't be shipped within 6-8 weeks. Assuming its 8 weeks and we have not received the mixer….we will not be able to make a complaint as it has exceeded 45 days…

I don't know about you guys, but I intend to make a complaint if I don't receive the mixer by the end of this month!!!

      • +2

your call, but a bit unfair considering the deal did say 6 weeks for delivery.. To be fair, give them 6 weeks , 42 days…

  • I also got the generic email

  • Looking at the comments I have decieded to not wait…made payments through paypal linked to my credit card, how can I ask for refund? Can I do this through paypal?

    • call your credit card for charge back, I did that few years ago, it works

  • the reason why using Paypal is you don't want your credit card details been disclosed to any other parties, otherwise if your credit card has been 'used', you need to cancel the card, chase up with the credit card issuer for the investigation, change all the direct debit that are associated with the card.

you don't need to worry about this by using Paypal, also you still can use the charge-back feature of your credit card to reverse the transaction - paid via Paypal by credit card

    • thanks for reply, do raise a dispute with paypal, it seems to have to be done in 42 days, the expected delivery time is now 6-8 weeks, which will be over the timeframe?

      • Paypal dispute time is 45 days.

  • Just recieved an email. Also deal is no longer available.

    • also got it, they are getting a container now, would this still be 220-240V? Still worried about the 1 year overseas warranty.

  • I have received the generic email too… I didn't order mine til about 10hrs after the deal was posted so things look promising.

  • got a reply as well, at about 7.25

So it seems at least it was not a MASS mail out…

    still worried

    • I sent two emails to panda2u using the same voucher number. I got a reply to both emails. It seems they reply to any emails sent.

  • +1

Got a reply at 9:56. Same generic message as everyone else.

    • First time poster but long time viewer.

I asked SoSharp this morning for another contact since Panda2U isn't responding. They said this merchant doesn't normally reply however they will follow up.

Tonight I received two generic emails from Panda2U at 8:10 and 8:12pm but at 11:18pm I got another email with the generic phrase however at the end it say I will get a red mixer. This is the reply to one of my email which I think they're not using an auto-responder mail daemon. Crossing fingers this will go through and I'll see my red mixer after 6 wks.

  • The cynic in me thinks

SoSharp Accountant- "So we got $2M in the bank for 7000+ machines we can't possibly supply right now"

SoSharp Advisor- "Well I guess we just got to delay em long enough to get more machines AND get past the charge-back deadline - let's do an email to em all - after all that's what they seem most concerned about on Facebook. That might stall em long enough."

  • +3

So after receiving the generic email that everyone seems to have received, I sent a follow up email asking whether I will be getting the Empire Red as asked or just a random colour AND if the electrical plug will be Australian standard. I wasn't expecting a reply but to my surprise a couple of hours later (11pm) I got a reply confirming my request of a red colour mixer and that it is an Australian electrical plug being supplied!! This looks more promising now… Just have to wait out 6 weeks…

    • What you should of asked is if they tamper with the unit to put an Australian plug on. Which will invariably void the warranty. This could very well be a modified European model.

  • +4

Glass half full now. not half empty

  • Got my generic email at 8:30pm last night.

  • Got the generic email, replied (cos I ordered two) and got answers (from both sosharp and panda2u).
    So far so good…..

  • +3

Just a quick note about my experience with PayPal dispute resolution which seams relevant here.

I disputed an ebay purchase through PayPal, was for a phone adapter from China. They contacted the seller for me in Chinese and translated for me that the item was sent by ship, PayPal then asked if I was ok to continue waiting or get them to talk to the seller about a refund, they said they would keep the dispute active until it arrived if I decided to wait.

I know you guys aren’t covered by the PayPal EBay guaranty but the dispute resolution process should be the same. So I recommend you lodge a dispute with PayPal within the 45 days because lodging a dispute is just the start of the process, if it arrives then just close the dispute. In my case it arrived in 50 days, no harm done and I will think twice before ordering cheap stuff from China without confirming how it’s posted.

Good luck you guys! I wish I hadn’t just purchased a KitchenAid a week ago for my wife’s birthday.

    • I wish I hadn’t just purchased a KitchenAid a week ago for my wife’s birthday.

Somehow everyone thinks their wife wants a KitchenAid.

      • +4

        I'm a wife and I want a KitchenAid. :-)

      • My wife bought this Kitchenaid deal and she has baked twice ever!
        I think it's genetic…

  • me too got email from them

    Hi guys,
Long time lurker, but I registered today just to participate in this convo. I too bought the kitchenaid and kept refreshing this page to see updates on whether ppl heard back from them.

I've been trying to contact panda2u since last Friday when I ordered the kitchenaid. FINALLY today I got through to the lady, she confirmed that the machine is coming from overseas, but reassured me that the wiring is suitable for Australian use.
She also confirmed that I should have my machine within 6-8 wks! I'm so excited, can't wait to use it. =)

    • +1

      Don't get too excited.

  • Just commenting so I dont have to search for this page everytime, Im one of the buyer as well and am very concern….

  • i cancelled my order and got an adjustment note of $5.48 happened to any1 ? I have disputed with paypal.

    • Which method did you use to cancel your order?

    Dear Valued SoSharp Customer,

    • +4

Yep, just got that email too. Disappointed, but good on SoSharp for doing what they believe to be the right thing by their customers.

      • +3

good that they're refunding everyone, but they should have done the due diligence on the supplier and the product prior to taking peoples money

    • -1

That was easy money for SoSharp. How much interest has SoSharp made from the whole fiasco?

      • +2

Probably a lot less than the 1.5% credit card fee they pay their bank and will have to suck up when they refund the entire amount.

        • Only if refunds atually happen…

    • I am equal parts disappointed and relieved.

Now I really want a Kitchenaid though. Not enough to pay $800.

Would love to know what made them decide the products weren't authentic. It was quite clear they were grey market just based on the price. Was it all of our whinging that made them pull the plug, maybe pressure from the official Aus importer (who I believe has been contacted by someone on ozb), or something else? What do they mean by 'authenticity'??

  • Ditto

  • What a disaster. At least SoSharp did the right thing refunding.

Chalk 1 more "too good to be true and it was" deal up to experience.

  • was about to post the same

    • haha yeah we are all racing back to post the latest news lol.

wicksey was too fast for u.

  • +2

As the saying goes, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. Fortunately, they're going to refund everyone on their own accord. Wonder if they did this for publicity. They should be checking the authenticity before they ran the deal! It was also poor form to have left the deal going for 3 days. Thankful that I didn't bite, it was definitely very tempting.

  • dammit..what a disappointment!

    • Gonna have to spend double and get a "real" one.

Now would be a good time for a genuine deal on these.

      • Agree - the distributer or a savvy reseller would be wise to put a deal together right about now!

  • Deal is off. Email received from Boucher company said they won't support the deal as it looks 'sus'

Said they will refund purchase within 3 days.

  • +1

At least we have a result, one way or another, instead of waiting for 6-8 weeks for a possible answer. Just a question, shouldn't SoSharp already know the quality of their affiliations?

    • I agree KennyG-
      They should have known-
      I am so disappointed :-(

  • I suppose we'll wait and see if they refund out monies within 3 days….

If this was a publicity stunt by So Sharp (and I'm certain it is) then its seriously going to backfire on them.

  • I have not received the email about the refund. Does this mean I will be getting the mixer?

    • Perhaps check your junk mail folder - mine was in there.

      • Nothing in my junkmail.

        • I wouldn't bank on receiving a mixer. I'm sure you'll get the email soon.

    • Still hoping to get "the mixer"??? LOL…. Didn't you read wicksey's post?
I am sure you won't be getting "the mixer". Getting your money back? I'm not so sure about that either…

  • Please see benchia's forum post for email from SoSharp about cancellation/refund.
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/74151

  • mmmm dam it and thought this would happen.

SEAGATE 2TB drive ALL OVER AGAIN

Well at least its sorted quickly

  • not happy, why didn't they do their "due diligence" before posting the deal?

  • "18 Left when i bought one!

First post so hope it's a good one :)
    "

According to the OP's post the available quantity was ONLY 18! The available quantity was then suddenly changed dramatically to accomodate the demands. WHY? Now they are claiming innocence! :-)
I'm supprised that none of the "buyers" raised this question and still praising them for promising to refund. :-)

    • I'm supprised that none of the "buyers" raised this question and still praising them for promising to refund. :-)

"Buyers" don't want to show their stupidity of being caught out.

      • Off topic… How do you quote with a yellow bar at the beggining of text?
        I'm showing my stupidity here… :-)

        • Add > in front of your text.

    • Many buyers did raise this question, through emails, phone calls, and posts to SoSharp's Facebook page.

      • What was the answer? Just being curious..

        • I think generally the question was ignored - lots of people had their comments deleted from the FB page, for example. In some cases people received a generic response along the lines of 'the supplier has managed to obtain additional stock' or 'the deal was more popular than expected so we have secured more items'. Or just 'the deal has been very popular'.

I had some luck on the phone where a SoSharp rep stated that panda2u had not provided accurate stock level information at the start of the deal and were updating it. This made sense given she stated it at the point where the deal changed from 18 remaining to 40~ remaining - didn't seem to quite hold true when there were potentially thousands of people taking up the deal days later!

  • +2

I just called them and they said they could not confirm that the items were genuine from the supplier (panda2u.com.au) hence they are gonna refund everyone…but I guess their database is bigger now. I am just surprised how are they going to live with the cost off affiliates who have already pocketed 10% per sale - and they sold hundreds if not a few thousand of these…

  • I still haven't receive an email regarding the cancellation of my order and a refund will be issue. Is there anyone out there that has not received the email?

    • me neither

      • Were you one of the first few buyers? I wonder if they can only supply say the first twenty buyers?
