Been cheaper in past, but seems to be a good price for now.
~$26.35AUD per TB.

"but what about warranty". good question fellow ozbargainer. YMMV, but when I ordered some ultrastar drives a few years ago I messaged Amazon US specifically about warranty and they gave me their guarantee that they would honour the warranty period. this was despite the actual storefront seller of the product saying they wouldn't (they went on to say Amazon shouldn't be selling their products to people overseas hah), and the WD website not coming back with anything in their warranty checker (presumably because it's not a consumer drive).

My NAS is pretty much full so I need to start swapping for higher capacities so this is tempting, but personally I will probably wait for Black Friday sales and see if this gets any better.

Edit: thanks for the edit, had my currency in AUD and Amazon adds some "exchange rate guarantee", so didn't notice the cheaper pure USD price.

    • oh damn that's some good value, thanks for linking.

    • I had a look at that link you posted but id like to see the serial numbers before purchasing from that ebay seller for the 16tb/20tb drives to check the warranty. when they post a picture with the blurred serial number it seems very dodgy. Ill probably stay away for $350/$645 each. Also when you buy from other countries like HK or china the warranty is not valid in Australia ( sometimes its written on the drive itself "warranty only valid in china/HK" )

for those concerned about warranty, don't put personal data on these drives as you might need to send it back for warranty.

any data can be retrievable even if they deleted, formatted, etc.
