  • Any JB gift card deal for that C2?

Might be a 15% off deal very soon though, if previous years are any indication.

      • How many gift cards can be used in 1 purchase?

        • +1

If you mean online, then I’m not sure as you need to enter the card details in the debit/credit card details section at checkout, so it seems only one can be used?

I bought one $50 Ultimate Home card the other day and couldn’t buy a gift card online with it as verification kept failing, and it even failed verification once when simply using the Home card itself for payment.

          • +1

@MiscOzB: I've used multiple JB gift cards online before (had a bunch from returns). I think 3 is the most I've used at once.

            • +1

@Diji: Yeah it's unlimited with the actual JB gift cards, but I meant with the Ultimate cards.

              • +1

@MiscOzB: Oh I didn't realise it would be different. Good to know!

Hi OP, did you see any MBP 14" deals in the catalog?

    • -4

There's a HP 14" on the front page. Close enough?

      • +1

Nvm found it. Looks like all apple MacBook are 10% off

        • The MBP 14” is cheaper through OW in 4 days, if all things go well and they follow the original sale prices in their catalogue before they asked ShopFully to pull it

          • @BargainsGrabber: yeah i'd take that deal but i'm getting $1200 GC from JB for telstra deal plus I have like $750 worth of GC as well.

  • +1

Amazing price for the Cube - short review here:

    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/94k642pk#r2

    • Pretty keen on testing out this beast.
Currently using a 2019 Nvidia Shield.

      • +3

I doubt it will ever come close to Nvidia Shield

        • The Cube really needs to be running on a 64bit build of Android.

        • It’s really snappy mate and probably faster because the NVIDIA processor is quite old now.

          • @vinnychase: I got one on release day. But have since packed it away as the new Apple TV packing a15 is 🔥🔥🔥

    • +1

So its just an amazon echo + fire tv stick 4K max in one device?

      • Not really an echo as it can’t play music by itself. It turns the tv on for music. But everything else is echo like.

    • +1

      I love Joel Osteen's scriptures

  • +5

That’s a good price for the C2. If I didn’t have an FO48U I’d be all over that.

    • +1

In the same boat, 42inch would have been my ideal desktop monitor size:(

    • +1

FO48U still a very good monitor

    • +2

I paid the early adopter tax and got a launch model, this price is really good for the 42, which excels as a PC gaming monitor imo.

      • +1

I'm similar here, paid 1795 in a previous deal. Great price for a 4k tv/monitor with full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, it was one of the reasons I chose the LG over the gigabyte monitors since they didn't have full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports.

      • +1

Darn, I'd be interested in this as a gaming monitor, but what about burn in when using windows with the windows task bar?

Would burn in be an issue when using it for stuff apart from gaming?

        • I got used to auto hiding the taskbar, I run a plain back background and 2 desktop icons. I also regularly use the built in 'pixel cleaning' feature which is great to prevent burn in (the TV also does lighter version of this itself, and other things to reduce burn in possibility) Honestly not worried about burn in at all.

As for things outside of gaming, naturally it's great for any video content, but WFH/browsing etc on it is fine, just run cleartype once to tune writing to look good.

      • I’m using the 55”
Any way to stop the auto dimming?

        • Have you checked the energy options in the settings?

        • +1

Nope. Not unless you want to go into the service level settings and change a setting. If you do this you risk warranty if something goes wrong.

    • Indeed. This deal make me started thinking to replace mine with this one. Still 5 days to think.

    • Isnt bigger better for gaming?

      • +3

42” would be a more popular size as a monitor.

      • I use a 55” as I watch tv and use console from my bed, and I split it into 6 smaller screens when working but it’s too large so you either have to keep turning your head or use a custom resolution to bring it down to something that fits inside your vision.
For me, I keep it full size but put my chats on the side as I only look at them occasionally.

My one wish would be for windows to support scaling down past 100% as I’m close enough that everything could be smaller giving me more usable realestate in the middle where my focus is.

If I was using as a monitor only then 42” would provide a better experience as long as your sitting at a desk or not too far away.

One thing to note is that all the reviews say you can do pbp but you can’t do it with 2 hdmi inputs. Appears that LG removed it from the firmware which is a shame as it was one of the reasons I bought it.

    • How has this monitor been? I'm keen on it also but read reviews of that warning that flashes up a lot telling you the screen has been on too long, even after you've turned it in for the first time that day. I'm hoping Gigabyte has addressed this.

      • Never had an issue like that, amazing OLED, I still game at 120hz just with chrome subsampling of which, if you have a proper graphics card you can use DSC to make the 24gbps hdmi restriction a non issue.

Great price, got mine for $1039 in may.

Only downsides I found is the remote can be inconsistent, aka turn it on but didn’t really, and there’s visible banding on full screen grey slides.. here’s an example

    • +1

Hey, Do you use it for everything or exclusively for media? Oled monitor sounds great if I cac use it without killing it too quickly.

      • I use it to work from home 3 days a week, and random gaming for a few hours a week.

  • +5

Some great deals on there, should be worth a mention on these PS5 titles too for $49:
    Ratchet and Clank
    Gran Turismo 7

    • +4

      GT7 not bad

Hoping for an Elden Ring deal

      • +1

        I want GT7 under $30

    • The price for the PS5 games is live. Great price when combined with the $10 perk voucher.

  • +2

Is the series S good enough when connected to LG OLED 55 inch for a casual gamer like me? I only play like 5 to 10 hours a month max. And can I buy a perpetual licence of FIFA 23 so I won't be paying for game pass every month? Cuz that's all I play.

    • +3

      Yes and yes.

Digital version of FIFA is about $100 (full price), FYI.

      • Thanks. I can see in the same JB catalogue that it has been reduced to around 40 bucks

    • +4

You don't need Gamepass to play games on Xbox, you can buy anything to own. Gamepass is like Netflix, lot of (amazing) games on the service with new ones added each month. It's not required but it's great value if you want to play first party titles or want to try out game you normally wouldnt have.

      • And I'm fairly certain there are some crazy good deals for annual passes that pop up here on ozb too.

    • +2

Yes, the series S is fantastic. I use it on my OLED 65 and it looks great. So glad I didn't go the X. Also a casual gamer

  • Is that the 55" C2 in the catalogue for $1888?

  • +12

    Solid OLED prices

    LG
    42 C2 – $1388
    55" CS – $1888
    65" CS – $2688
    77" CS $4795
    83" C2 $7995

    Sony
    55" (can't tell model) $1788
    65" (can't tell model) $2995

    Samsung
    55"
    65" $3295

    • +1

Is the CS worthwhile for 77” the C2 at 77” is such a huge jump from the 65”?

      • +1

It is a better C1 (frequently rated among the best OLED models, and TVs in general) so that's what I'll be getting.

    • Will TGG price match?

      • Would be surprised if they didn't.

      • TGG and JB are inter-linked, owned by same owners! Either should easily price match the other!

    • +3

      $2295 for 55” Samsung.

    • That's a disappointing price for the 65" Samsung in the midst of all the other offers.

      • Sure is! I was hoping $2800~ Guess ill keep waiting.

      • Are we assuming its the S95B?

        • +1

That's the only thing it can be.

      • Samsung OLED TV is using its own QD-OLED panels. This is new panel tech and production yield is very limited.
Sony A95K also shares the same panel since they have partnership in panel productions.

You have to compare Samsung S95B QD-OLED with Sony A95K and the LG Evo G2.
These are the Top of the line models.

    • Surely they can do better than that for the 77 CS.

    • So CS = C1 Panel with C2 processor?

Does that mean you are essentially sacrificing the brightness you would normally get from a C2?

      • +3

Correct CS = C1 with the updated processor.

So main difference is the evo panel thats on the C2, it's synonymous with high brightness. Other differences that seem less certain: less prone to burn in and possibly 5% power efficiency.

        The other differences being
        - CS is 5th gen wifi (C2 is 6th)
        - CS has C1 smart remote (C2 has a newer one)
        - CS weighs more, if this is a concern

        • When did this start to become a thing? I thought we always got the full fledge C2 and so on not cut backs like this?

        • -1

I just look into spec detail on C2 JBhifi they listed as wifi 5 (ac), hope this help clarify something.

          • @kinkara: They also listed multiple C2 models on the catalogue with 200Hz when it is 120Hz 🙄

    • +2

The Sony 55 has to be the A80J.

      • +1

I think A80K, J not in there when i search online and the discount matches what they are selling the A80k for. Mad deal!

        • +1

On JB's website the a80k 55 inch is 2795. The a80j is 2495. The catalogue says the listed price is 2495. Also if you look at the picture on the screen it matches up with the a80j. It's 100% the a80j. Even though I would want it to be the newer one. Haha

          • @HaydosK: Sorry I meant the discount for the 65" Sony Oled.

        • Idk why it's not coming up for you. Here is the link. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/sony-a80j-55-bravia-xr-ol…

    • Where are you getting these are CS for the mid sizes? All model numbers seem to be C2

      • +2

Where the model number couldn't be accurately determined (CS/C2 look very similar) from the catalogue images went off the pictures. C2/CS have different product pictures, pics on jb site match up with respective models so its not a 100% accurate method but if these were C2 prices it would mean CS prices would be lower - which whilst an insane deal, seems unlikely at this point.

        • +2

Can also tell by the ticket prices in the catalogue, which match the prices on the JB site.

    • +1

If according to their current prices and how much dkscount on catalogue, the Sony 65" should be A80k which makes it a pretty good deal when the A80J was higher last year!

    • Where did you get $2995 for Sony 65" OLED?
I've been shopping around and everywhere is around $3.5-3.7K.

Please tell. Im looking to get A80K 65" if it goes below $3K.

      • Right there on page 5 of the catalogue OP linked.

I can't make out the model number but don't believe JB stock the 65 A80J anymore and someone mentioned something about the discount aligning with current price so.

TLDR: see page 5 of catalogue, should be A80K model.

        • Thanks for the tip…got it now.

    • Sony is A80K OLED.
      Official price for 65" is $3795. Discount $800 => $2995
