  • Nice, now all we need is someone to negotiate with Apple to make ipadOS actually use > 10% of the m1/m2's power.

      • +2

According with my source Apple would be testing a smaller version of macOS

        Oh??????

exclusively for the new iPad Pro M2!

        …oh

    • you've been caught up in the pro = power argument lol

      • +1

didnt buy it for the power, im using it right now for browsing ozbargain :v

        • +1

          not what you said

        • So what's the point of your OP?

  • Price in title?

  • For Unifi U6-Pro AP I can only get it down to $198.96 at checkout with XZIP15. How do you get it to 193.96?

    • Updated

      • thank you for the clarification

  • @ rep - any deals for Mac book ?

  • +1

i'm confused, since when an ipad is pricing as the same as a macbook

    • Only the Pro models.

  • Never used ZipPay before… Has anyone paid the full loan off early? Was it an easy process?

    • Very easy to paid off, just use the extra payment to cover

  • +1

Is there a way to bypass the zip requirement? I no longer have Zip but would like to take advantage of the deal. Understandable if it's not possible…

    • +3

Use gift cards. I just used the code on another item and it let me cover the whole payment with them while keeping the discount

  • What's Plex like on an iPad? Anyone use their iPad as their travel solution for Plex?

    • +2

Plex is fine… just need to make sure your connection at home/server and device is fine.

    • +2

Plex plus (or whatever subscription’s called) to enable ‘download’ from server to local storage.

      Otherwise works fine.

  • Isn't it a bit tricky to buy any of these with the Zip payment method, given they tend to provide a $1k credit limit.

    • Gift card down to your limit and the rest as Zip.

    • +2

Last time there was similar promotion with AfterPay, and the amount was say $1200.
Upon checkout I paid it with a combination of $200 giftcard + $1000 AfterPay and received the discount.

      • How do you combo pay? I only have the option to increase zip pay to 2000 or 5000.

        • This is specific to paying in Ebay, where you can pay a portion of the balance using gift cards, and the remaining with any other preferred payment method.

  • Any suggestion on how to extend wifi range for a single story house. My router is connected to the FTTP node in the garage. There is an ethernet port that I can use to connect router in the living room instead but then the room next to the garage doesnt get any signals.

    • you need put in a wireless access point closer to the room you need signal. the wireless access point needs to link to the router preferably via an ethernet cable

stay away from wifi extender if you can…. it cuts the bandwidth in half and tends to be less reliable. unfortunately it sells well because most people find it too much hassle to run ethernet cable.

      • I have the option of ethernet cable. Which wireless AP would you recommend?

        • for residential use I would recommend sticking with the base models supporting 802.11ax (Wifi 6). For example, Unifi U6-Lite or TP-Link EAP610. Take note that wireless access point usually are powered by PoE/PoE+ so if you don't have an existing PoE switch (or have to get a PoE injector) then there is additional cost to be factored in.

The early version of TP-Link EAP610 is physically very large and should be avoided until the smaller ones becomes available.
Also some access points are cloud-managed only where the cloud might have a subscription costs. Avoid those too. For example, the Insight Managed product line from Netgear.

A common alternative is to replace the single router with a mesh system. Some mesh system are linked via wifi but some can be linked by ethernet cable. So each unit needs a power plug but then you won't need a separate PoE swtich.

If I have a big house and my router is strugglling to get the connection across to the other end, will ubiquiti ap help with this?

    • Get eufy Homebase. Doubles as a wifi extender

    • is the current router located centrally or on one end of the house? although might be a bit of work to relocate a router - often that can be more effective than getting additional access points. speaking from personal experience….. my house is wooden frame single-storey - and one centrally located router/access point covered my whole house

alternatively, you could also turn off wifi on the existing router and just put an access point to a central location with ethernet. this is if you can't move where the internet connection point easily. it's fine to leave the access point in the roof cavity if you don't want to mount it.

having multiple access points doesn't mean the client devices will connect to the closest one automatically - wifi devices tend to "stick". so then you'd want to have some kind of mesh system that can direct clients to use the closest access point and provide a seamless experience when jumping across access points.

  • Ipad is so expensive now. I got a used ipad pro 12.9 M1 chip, still have 1 year warranty left. Paid $950, not bad

  • Need a deal on 2021 ipad pro 12.9 256..

    • JB has 128gb for $1440 or so, and use iCloud

      • For an extra $300ish M2 256gb…seems a better deal, that’s what I ordered.

        • getting pricey

  • No iPhone deals sad 😞

  • $8/m zip fee stops me from signing up.

    • +1

Only if you owe zip money. Just pay it off instantly :)

  • So all new accounts get hit with the establishment fee?

  • Think black friday will get better than this? Or the M1 to be substantially cheaper

  • How can we get around the $1000 zip limit?

  • +2

With the code entered, the U6-Pro only goes down to $235 at the Zip confirm payment screen. What am I doing wrong?

    • I think the price changed, base price I'm seeing is 263 now minus 39.45 with zip code to get to 224 ish

      • Yep, looks like I missed the boat.

  • okay just got an ipad pro.
For those wondering about the 1k limit…
If you go over, it'll just charge the remaining amount to your card.

    • How did you do it? I don’t have the option but to reapply limit and there is like a 50$ fee

      • I got the 1k limit setting.
Then when i got to the end of the purchase screen, it'll ask if you want to pay the remainder of the money above 1k limit with your card.
        I just said yes.

        • That’s weird. I didn’t get the option at all!!!

          • @auslei: That's weird.. so it doesn't give you an option to pay the remainder?

            • @tomwhiteallnight: It didn’t give me the option either, only to increase limit. I ended up increasing it to $2000.

  • price on the 128 gb space grey is still 1379, code can't be applied

  • this or gen 3 ipad pro at jb hifi on sale? thanks

    • +1

Definitely this. An extra $72 for the faster chip and an extra 18 months of software support is a bargain.
