TP-Link Deco X60 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System (3 Pack) - $448 + $7.95 Shipping @ Harvey Norman

80

Just noticed HN has $100 off the Deco X60 3 pack. It doesn't look like any stock left in VIC but you can choose delivery option for $7.95.

Haven't seen any other retailers hold stock and offer at this price. Scorptec declined to price match.

  • Price in title please.

    • done!

  • I suspect this may be clearance of the v2 or older hardware revision?

A quick diff of the specifications page shows that the v2/v3 have different CPU, storage temperatures, and dimensions. There's also a bunch of differences in the weird security/features section that I don't typically pay much attention to.

They also dropped the beamforming statement in the v3 specs, which is a weird thing to do since beamforming is a compulsory part of the 11ax spec. It's probably still there.

  • is this the cheapest?

    • If you have access to TGG commercial, you might find it cheaper. I bought mine last year for $432 delivered.

      • not on there now, what size house do you have?

        • Mine is about 180 sq.m. Iā€™m only using two units at the moment.

          • @Dreamboy: ok guess I might be better with 3, using tp-link M5 with 3 now, X60 is needed to get the iiNet 1000/50 ultra speed I have lol

    • Cheapest in the last few weeks that I have been scanning. Nothing much on Ozbargain prior - however not sure if any Black Friday deals will come up next week. Stocks seem to be quite low from everyone I have called in to check. Unfortunately this model isn't even listed in OW and JB Hi-fi.

  • The 2 pack has been around $350, says up to 420m2 for 2 pack 650m2 for 3 pack, I am around 400m2 house so not sure which?

    • +1

At the risk of having to hand in my OzBargain card šŸ˜œ. I would say the 3 pack, as you might find some blackspots with just the 2 (all those limits are usually made in tests environments with ideal conditions, not real life), it would probably also depend on how congested (with other WiFi networks) your area is.

    • depends on your house layout and where your NBN connection is and where you can place the units. If it's square you're probably ok. If it's more rectangular and long, has a lot of walls in between units or if you want it to connect in the yard, then go with the 3 pack.

  • I used to have three Tplink AC1200 Deco M4. the system was useless in my case as the non-main nodes couldn't daisychain, ie. they were satellites always looking for the main node that had the WAN connection. The workaround from the webs was to cover the main node with a cast iron pan, let the satellites find each other, remove the pan and pray the satellites stay connected to each other instead of the most distant one disconnecting.

Does someone know if that's the Tplink/Deco series way or I just had a shitty model and the newer or higher-shelf sets can connect in a line instead of the main node-centric?

  • Tech question: if I have to bring in broadband to my home via a phone copper wire ie an RJ, does it matter how cheap a modem I get? Since the mesh would do the heavy lifting ?

    • +1

Yeah you can set these up to the main smarts for your home network. For the modem any nbn suitable one should ve fine .
