All time low according to 3xCamels. They also offer an extra discount for bulk buys. These SSD are an "Amazon Choice" item and seem to get decent reviews. I have never owned one, but the price seems good comparing to Kogan / eBay etc

I've seen them around for a while and there has been a few deals with the 2TB drive. They have decent reviews for a cheap drive

Only if you follow Donald Trump

Patriot have been around for years, typically seem to offer more budget ended stuff but is definitely a name brand, have used a couple of ssd's and a heap of Patriot ram over the years.

Yep, they've been around for years. Might have even considered buying their stuff at times if it wasn't for their name. It'd be embarrassing if anyone saw I had their stuff and thought I'd bought it because of the name. Their stuff doesn't seem to offer any other reason to buy it over anything else.

You would be embarrassed if someone somehow saw what is an internal drive?

        • +8

Funnily enough, not buying it because some people might question the name is more embarrassing than people questioning the name

I got a couple of the 1.92TB, 960GB, and 480GB models from the previously linked sale, and they have been working fine. Used the 1.92TBs as internal SSDs, while the 960/480 has been used with a Sabrient SATA -> USB adapter (https://www.amazon.com.au/Sabrent-2-5-Inch-Adapter-Optimized…). It's cheaper and way faster than any USB flash drive available. Just need to label each SSD with like a post it note to know whats on it.

I definitely recommend the 240/480 drives if you plan on using it with a USB adapter.

Bulk discounts are only for 240GB drives and smaller. Getting 4.8TB for just over $400 would have been a bargain otherwise this is just 'meh'.

So, anyone want to order 10 and hook them up to a HBA for science?

Good price; but ive had 2 of my 5 drives of this model go read-only after about 18 months.

Its the best possible type of failure, granted; but I'm still gonna move brand.

  • Suitable for an old Sata macbook?
