Would recommend this laptop if no need for dgpu. The integrated gpu is no slouch. Can game comfortably

Have owned this machine for 2 months now, here are my thoughts. HDR content is superb, with peak brightness 660nits. The OLED does have a grid on the screen, but it does not get in my way. Battery gets around 4-8 hours which is more than adequate. Battery drain during sleep varies, sometimes losing up to 10% overnight.
Unfortunately my machine has an issue where the keyboard is unresponsive when certain websites are in focus (lenovo.com, nab.com, jestar.com) The support team told me to update bios, reinstall windows, but the issues still remained. I am guessing this issue will go away in the future, making this device fantastic overall.

    • I have a similar problem with mine, but the USB - A port doesn't work so it's getting replaced under the DOA warranty… Hopefully the new one doesn't have that problem…

    • I tried turning HDR on in the settings but it makes colours seem a bit washed out, especially windows using a dark theme. Was there anything else you changed to make it look a bit better ?

      • +1

I would reload the HDR content page and make sure the 'Dolby Atmos' logo pops up to ensure the content is HDR supported.

Otherwise I would turn HDR off for daily use as the Auto-HDR setting tends to wash out colours on non supported content.

        • Thanks, will give this a go.

    • theres another commenter below who said the same thing about this keyboard now im worried lol

I have the same unresponsive keyboard issue but did not realise it was just certain websites. But then that made me think, what if its browser related? So, I just tested firefox on lenovo.com.au and jetstar and it does not seem to have the issue (compared to edge - so maybe also chrome?). Now this could just be luck and I'll see how it goes.

Agree with everything else, yes there is a grid, but I honestly don't even notice it at all (perhaps just my eyes though).

i did a bit of digging and it might be due to lenovo bloatware

specifically Lenovo vantage and other software

        https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Laptops/High…

        https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-13-E-and/S…

        Quick text guide:
Navigate to the folder containing FMAPP.exe (open file location in task manager)
        close fmapp.exe in task manager
delete all FMAP files from the folder
        restart pc
        lag is gone now

might give this laptop a go with these fixes, worse case return it

        • I was going to make a joke about the CCP spying on us via keylogging, but after having read your links, this suspicion would not be entirely unfounded!

One of the forum posts you linked said:

"Apparently, the setting i pointed on point 3 was trying to send anonymous device data from your PC to Lenovo (and i think some Lenovo guy not doing a good job by hiding traces and affecting customer's experience)"

      • Yes you are right, the keyboard issues are not present in Firefox. Battery drain on Firefox is still greater than Edge though, so not ideal.

        • I would recommend Brave browser for less battery drain than Edge. My keyboard doesn't lag with Brave.

      • You're a genius - for thinking it's browser related.

I too have the keyboard lag issue if certain sites (Lenovo, nab, Jetstar) are open in Edge and showing in the foreground.

But if I switch to Brave browser with those sites there is no keyboard lag.

(Guys, if you don't use Brave browser, you should - it's fast, uses less battery and blocks all sorts of nasty website trackers.)

4-8 hours for a Zen 3 machine? I was honestly expecting much better.

    • +2

ok i fixed the issue after 12 hrs of trying everything

      TLDR:
      1) backup all your stuff
      2) download clean image of win11 from microsoft directly. Dont use lenovos recovery image
      3) nuke the stock windows from orbit with a fresh install.
      4) NOTE you will need a usb network device (usb wifi/ethernet adapter or tethering wifi from your phone using usb works the easiest) as there are no drivers in the clean image
      5) Install windows updates. it will grab some drivers. Grab the wifi one for sure
      6) download missing essential drivers from lenovo
      https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/au/en/products/laptops-and-netb…
      7) Avoid lenovo vantage. So far pen, camera, ITS, Energy management, FN hotkey, Yoga mode firmware have been installed with no issues

Remember to create a restore point once you have a stable clean image
also use windows cleanup to delete old version of windows. its 100gb of wasted space otherwise

      • Thanks. Where does the new install get the correct Windows license from?

        • +1

          tied to the motherboard

worst case scenario your windows account should pick it up once u sign in

          mine auto detected

      • Ok, I have done a clean reinstall of Windows 11 from the microsoft store. For the first 2 days, the keyboard lag was not present. Now it is the 5th day and the issues have come back…

Making matters worse, windows has somehow deleted the system restore points when it was stable.

Seems like a browser switch to Firefox is inevitable.

        • +2

          mine is still fine

did u install any lenovo software?

you may need to check your system restore settings. you may have set the cache allowance too low

the only explanation that i can think of is software that was installed very recently either manually or through automatic software updates

you can do this in 2 ways to check
          1) in update history you can see the latest installed updates.
          2) in apps, you can sort by date. there is the "settings" menu for this as well as the control panel add/remove installs

        • mine started having the issue again now

further research pins blame on the audio drivers. Realtek/conextant/ pro something

gunna try to eliminate that and see if it works

    • Same issue is occurring for me, where the built-in keyboard just seems to not respond to key presses or there is a delay when typing. For me this seems to occur in all applications, not just browsers. However, I tried typing with an external Bluetooth keyboard and it is super responsive! So, could this be some sort of hardware issue with the built in keyboard I wonder?

Wasn't this cheaper last time round?

I would of bought it, but no upgradeable ram.

    • For the 6600U variant, yes. It's been around this price on sale for the 6800U though, and the one to go for IMO.
As for the RAM, I don't think there are many options, or any options in this form factor that accomodate for upgradable RAM is there?

      • The last deal included extras, and had cashback.

I recall it would of been around $1,500-$1,600 with bonus warranty or aftercare.

There is a 32GB ram model, but I haven't seen it.

    • How much was it last time? I can't seem to find any past posts that are for the same model with 6800U CPU, only seeing posts with the 6600U.

  • Works well with Egpu too with 6600 XT! However I sold mine because the integrated GPU is perfect for my light gaming needs.

  • It's strange that it is always this particular SKU, without a fingerprint reader, that is on deep discount. Makes me wonder whether it is different in some other unknown ways from remaining SKUs. In particular, whether some other corners were cut.

  • I've been waiting for this to go on special again, but … no edu access. Good deal though!

  • Got this in the last deal for a similar price with cashback which was a hassle to sort out with them. Coming from gaming laptops the portability and battery are insane. Being able to go places for hours without being plugged in is just a different world. And ive tried a bunch of games its possible to run pretty much anything even high end if you scale back quality and resolution. Also the USB 4 port is really useful and I often have it set up with a KVM switch. Build quality is also very nice. I spent $1400 on a dell g5 years ago that was such a waste of money to perform the same graphically as this but with a dedicated card running at 100 degrees compared to this being so cool and quiet for $300 more its just worlds better. Literally go to uni for one week just to buy this.

    • Can you see the grid matrix on the screen up close or lines like people describe? Can you upload a photo?

  • +1

I bought this one in August, had blue screen error after first week. Lenovo replaced it with new one, but the new one came with broken speaker(distortion). Now getting refund.
Also had keyboard lag in both the models for some reason on some websites.

  • I wonder if these are refurb units from all the people who returned them due to problems, as evident in this thread.

  • does enterprise have any offers

  • +1

I'm gonna hold for black friday, or boxing day.

Frenzy is never amazing sales, it's a good test for retailers tho

  • bought one thanks OP

  • Got this in the August deals last time. I'll also throw in my 2c
    - like others above I had keyboard lag as well, removing the built in Lenovo Smart Appearance app/driver seems to have mostly removed it
    - oled screen is quite good but does have that touch matrix. For me its not that annoying but definitely there. If you want to get a feel about whether you would be annoyed with it or not I believe some of the Asus Zenbook Flip machines also have a similar display so you might want to go into a store and have a look at any laptop with an OLED touchscreen which I think would have that grid as well
    - the wireless card in here (MT7922) is quite atrocious — frequent wifi dropouts, bluetooth would constantly reboot itself, sometimes the whole card just goes offline. It's not hardware failure as I've had the mainboard and card replaced by Lenovo and the issues still persist. Recent Windows updates seem to have improved it a bit but the issues still occasionally come up from time to time. Currently thinking about whether to void warranty and replace the wireless card with an Intel one, or maybe to just return the whole machine and get something else (would be a shame though because the iGPU is just so good).

    • Thanks. Happy with the: battery life? Heat? Performance?

      • +1

Battery is pretty average, I'd say maybe 5 hours normal web browsing depending on what you use it for, mostly attributable to the power hungry OLED screen

Heat is fine, never really gets too hot, fan is quiet in normal web browsing and only really kicks in with heavy loads

Performance is good, especially the iGPU

    • +2

Agree on the MT7922, mine began to disappear and would only come back after powering off, and holding the off button for a whole minute to reset the card. Replaced with an AX210, haven't had any issue since.

Solved the keyboard issues with a clean install

removing bloatware from stock didnt help at all

  • +1

Also having keyboard issues. The issues persisted following a clean install.
My first laptop had BSOD issues, so they sent me a new one. However they were unable to transfer the remaning warranty that i had remaining

    • Are you saying you get 0 warranty then?

      • No i bought 3 y onsite warranty and battery change with the first machine. When they replaced it, the new machine only had the default 1y warranty

        • +1

So basically they did not honour the warranty you purchased. That does not seem right. Have you complained?

  • Anybody having issues with display output from theUSB-C port(s)? My monitor just won't detect any output from Yoga, even though it works perfectly fine with my other computer. Wondering whether this is a problem with USB-C ports on my machine or is it a known common issue. The annoying thing is, display output via USB-C ports is nothing new and should just work. Lenovo support rep that called me clearly had no clue. Now waiting for the next level support to get back to me, but in the meantime I am wondering whether anyone else experienced the same issue.

    • Fixed with the latest BIOS update, which ironically does not mention this issue being fixed in the release notes. Maybe it was the mere act of "resetting" BIOS as part of the update that fixed the display via USB-C issue.

  • Really want to buy this laptop but both OzBargain and Reddit have countless mentions of the keyboard issue with no solution provided by Lenovo. Such a shame.

  • A few questions. Does the keyboard lag only affect the AMD version and not the intel Yoga 7i? Is the OLED screen more power hungry than the IPS screen on a similar brightness setting? Would Wifi card more likely be an intel AX one with the Yoga 7i? Would the AMD version still be a better buy if mostly buying for office applications rather than gaming?

      1. unsure, but I'd say its likely some sort of chipset/graphics driver issue with AMD (given their regular problems with drivers…) seems to be a little better with the latest amd driver installs. Note that the 12th gen P series Intel laptop processors also seem to have their own fair share of issues with boost/battery apparently
      2. yes in general. although the IPS screen iirc has a lower max brightness which may be an issue depending on your use case
      3. it will be intel AX211 due to requirements for Intel Evo
      4. in all honesty if you don't care about performance and just want something for office work I'd probably look for something with an Intel 12th gen U series processor, those machines seem to have the least issues with good power efficiency according to various internet reviews. AMD is fine but if the experience is anything like mine prepare to deal with many driver issues…
