Pro churners would go for pointhack anz platinum rewards.

    $95 annual fee
    $1500 spend within 3 months
150K reward points or 75K velocity points
    $95 flight credit
    $50 credit back.

    • wheres the option of 150k reward points?

      • Sorry I got confused with other card which offers reward points and points can be converted to Velocity FF.

      • expired. 50k now

    • where do the pro churners go for lower salaries? I swear 50k incl super kinda kills me a lil. Can't wait to get a better paying job

    • +4

Pro churners would get both. Virgin money cards are stupidly easy to get.

I was a holder of ANZ platinum rewards earlier this year, then copped the ANZ frequent flyer, and less than 2 months after that I applied for OP's post and last week just cancelled it, 109k from the virgin money card alone.

But yes it is delayed as it's… Per month bonus.

    • Not if you've had it recently 😉

    • This gives you upto 140k points if you registered and chose 40k bonus from Velocity.

    • This one is way better if you can meet the spend each month. Basically same outlay but 25k more points

  • Virgin Velocity Flyer Card

    Mine's never been used.

  • +2

Do pro churners even keep a card for 4 months?

  • Being an idiot, I applied (and was approved) for this card about four weeks ago when it was 60k bonus points.

  • +3

'$1500 Spend Per Month' so $6000 total spend to get 100k velocity points

  • +4

Is there a 12 month exclusion to be counted as a new customer? Closed my last one in March 2022.

Really like this card, the velocity points get posted basically same day as the monthly statement.

    • Same question here

  • already applied for the citi one, is it best to wait for an outcome or apply for this one now?

    • I wouldn’t recommend it - Citi are the supplier behind Virgin Money. I applied for the Citi personal loan, then a week later applied for this, and while they both ended up getting approved it was such a hassle in the meantime. Had to resubmit my documents like three times and keep asserting that yes, I did still want both products.

  • Thanks, Anyone recommend a card that will get you into Amex lounge in Sydney?

  • +6

    Here is some math:
After you hit the $6k spend, you will end up with either:

    • 103,960 Velocity Points (0.66 velocity points per dollar)
    • 67,070 Krisflyer miles (Points transfer 1.55 Velocity points -> 1 Krisflyer miles)
    • $500 Coles gift cards (with 6,460 points remaining).

    And also the:

    • $129 virgin australia gift voucher
  • Just be careful of all the exclusions on this card.

I spent $5k and didnt make $1500 of eligible spending.
Even had a shit fight over spends that were eligible. Ie water bill. They said no, AFCA said yes. Got most of the points, but i avoid this if I can.

    • Is there a list of exclusions?

Seems really stupid if they are doing shit like that

      • +2

Yes there is a clear list of exclusions including gov charges, etc. In the T&C.

        • +1

Yep, read these carefully. When I had it, the notable exclusions were:

Government spend - Council rates, Service levies, Land tax, ATO etc
Semi government spend - Car rego and water rates (I argued water and won).
          Insurance (never had that before).

Haven't looked at new T&Cs, might have changed (but it is backed by Citibank). Remember not to have more than 2 cCtibank cards, or likely auto rejection.

          • @tunzafun001: You reckon Beem It bpay transactions count for this card? Been using this Ozbargain method for churning other cards.

            • @BuyLowLetsGo: How does that work? Interested to know

              • @Westpac: Simply just add your credit card to Beem it and use it to bpay every thing bpayable. :)

If you search on Ozbargain, you’ll find plenty of posts about this.

just dump all the spending on thse coles mastercard 10% and use that to pay for bill.

    • Sydney water bills and electricity bills were eligible.
      However council rates are excluded.

      • Council rates are excluded by just about every card. Pay council rates with the Coles Mastercards that just came out. Then they become an eligible spend by proxy.

        • Hi Tunza, I just saw your comment on another page here. Do you mind if I ask what you mean by this? Is there a way to pay rates using a different Mastercard, and then repay these and count as an eligible spend somehow via a Coles card?

          Cheers

          • +1

@montysupreme: I mean the Coles Prepaid Mastercards that come out with a 10% discount twice a year. So you just buy these (and earn points), and then use these cards to pay your rates.

            Hope that makes sense.

    • The thing which is stupid as well is they don't you how many points you accumulated. You have to wait for the statement to come out.

  • +3

Applied for this as not at 12mths from anz yet. Approved within about 30min and currently waiting for my card. Seems decent if anz is off limits for you.

    • +1

Yep, that's where I'm currently sitting too

  • +1

Applied for this card 6 months ago, got rejected (never been rejected and have good credit score with no negative events).
Applied for a Citi PL a month ago, got rejected.
Is it worth me trying again? I feel like I'm blacklisted for any Citi product

    • +1

Don't bother, im in the same boat, got rejected twice with Citi Loan a few days ago. I also checked my credits check to make sure things arent wrong

    • +1

I got rejected for my first card a couple of weeks ago. Of course it was Citi!
I have a good credit score and meet the income requirements, so I assumed it was because I still had my ANZ FF Black open. Have closed this now and just applied for this card last night. Will wait and see if I get approved.

    • +1

Damn, same here - first EVER decline. Maybe cause i keep churning Citi products…

Impeccable credit history, income isn't the issue…

    • Wtf, me too my first ever decline today. Can't be income or expenses, assume it's the twice a year churning? Funny thing, my primary cc is the Citi Primier + excellent credit rating. Go figure…

  • Do you have to stay 4 months or you can just get the bonus each month?

    • You get 25k every month.

  • This or high flyer?

    • +2

      $64 vs $289

100k points each card (have a higher spend per month for high flyer. $1.5k/mth vs $3.5k/mth)

The only benefits I can see of the high flyer is:
Higher velocity points earn per $ (1pt vs 0.66), and
      2 x Virgin lounge passes.

I personally don't value lounge passes at $112.15 each, that's why I applied for this card rather than the high flyer.

      • Yeah, i was concerned about the yearly fee. Also the TC state bpay is excluded which is most of my expenses (rent). is there a way ro collect points from this?

  • can anyone confirm if using beem it will count towards the monthly spend?

  • I’ve had this card for a couple of years and use it at places that don’t accept Amex.

Love that the $129 fee is offset with a $129 Virgin Australia voucher, and the periodical “spend $X and get a $Y eVoucher” deals are great.

  • how does the voucher offer work - do you have to spend money buying e.g. Virgin fare first to be eligible?

    • No

    • You just have to request it and it comes through after a few days. I used mine recently to upgrade to economy X on a virgin flight, closed the card months ago but the voucher was still active.

      • Wait you can use the travel credit for upgrades?! Can this he done on award flights?

        • Yep that's actually what i did. I booked an economy flight with points and then after it was booked you can upgrade to economyX using the travelbank voucher. You can't upgrade it at the time of booking as you can't use a travel voucher with a points redemption, but it allowed me to do it after I had booked :)

  • Can anyone clarify if the $1500 spend is per month or per statement?

My first statement was 12th November after I received the card in Oct, spent $1500 and got the 25k points. I have since spent another $1500 in the month of November but need to plan my spending differently if it is per calendar month instead of statement.

    Thanks!

    • +1

I can confirm the $1500 spend requirement "per month" is actually per statement month, not per calendar month (Virgin should really be clear about this, but anyway..)

So as an example, and for clarity:
      - my application approval date was 21 Nov (this becomes the start date of the first statement period, which then ends on 20 Dec)
      - card arrived in the mail about a week later on 26 Nov (effectively you lose a week to reach the spend requirement in the first statement)
      - met my spend requirement during the statement period (I spent about $1300 during then calendar days of November and the rest over December), then statement arrived on 21 Dec, it will indicate the regular velocity points earned and the bonus 25,000 points separately.
      - points appeared in my Velocity account on 21 Dec.

    • Wait so you have to spend 1500 per month to qualify for 25,000 for upto four months? Lol

      • Spend $1500 per month, to get 25k points each month over 4 months (total 100k points)

  • Applied for this yesterday and was accepted an hour later - waiting on the card now!

    • Oh wow that's quick, i just applied and am expecting to be approved in a few days - anything particular you did you get it approved quicker outside uploading the usual docs?

    • How long did it take for the car to arrived?? Waited over a week and still no card in mail….

      • Approved 19th Jan ,got today.

        Edit lol 12th Dec comment

  • Are you still eligible for these points if you currently hold a Citi Rewards Card? That card is also issued by Citi? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/725401

  • Just signed up, still have the 100k points promo, approved within 30mins
But the signup process was weird, kept getting oops error and had to retrieve application to continue…and then the initial document request page asked for all sorts then it timed out and when clicked the email link to go back in again, it only asked for 2 forms of ident…weird as

    • Damn application keeps glitching out and giving me "Oops - something went wrong. Uh-oh. It looks like we've had an error."

Retrieved application and continued but error pops up everytime at the employment history page.

Any tips? What did you do?

  • Try to use different browser
And just keep retrieving the application to continue
It's weird that it's so glitchy

    • Thanks. Tried that. Doesn't work. Very frustrating.

Called them and they told me to restart the application, acknowledging it's a back end glitch -_- Also couldn't tell me or be sure if my partial application took a hit with a credit check. Pretty incompetent bunch of people…

Wondering if I should risk it again and restart with a new application.

  • Has anyone that's churned Citi/NAB credit card earlier this year been approved for this?

Trying to figure out why I was rejected - income passes easily

    • not churn, but currently hold a Citi credit card (not fee free), personal loan (for velocity points), and approved

      • thanks for sharing! I am a serial churner - so I wonder if that flags in their system…

        • Yes it does. I got rejected for a new citi cc and when i enquired they said it was because of high number of cc applications.
I have never been rejected with the other banks and have excellent credit rating.

  • This has been the most frustrating application process for me.

The system keeps glitching out, restarted my application once, which probably pinged my credit check twice total. Keeps giving me an error after filling out employment details. Hotline staff members are so clueless and rude, providing no solution apart from "use a different browser".

    Applications still stuck and incomplete!

    Any ideas?

  • Do pending transactions count towards the 1500$ spend or will it go onto the next month spend. (E.g made a purchase on the last day of the current statement period.

    • +1

Pending transactions won't get printed on the statement when it is released, so won't count for thr current month's spending.

  • I cannot find anything for electricity provider in exclusion list, anyone have idea?
I paid using CC not Bpay since it looks like any Bpay method is excluded.
