310

I bought a two days ago in store. I don't know what delivery is like as I picked it up.

the sales person said they had 9 in the NSW Store at the time.

I had to ring up about the uncharted game redemption, but they gave it to me via email after.

I love this one, waiting for black Friday deal.

  • Is this better than the R7 58003DX deal for gaming?

      I would say definitely not

Only slightly less in gaming (in some situations) but beats it everywhere else. I'd say it's worth the small trade-off.

    • There's not much in it, you'll get a couple of games that take real advantage of the extra cache but in general you're looking at around 5% better gaming performance. If you need the extra cores of the 5900x then the benefit can be as high as 45% but on average around 20% better performance.

yep small trade off in gaming (dependent on game)… but much more Performance in everything else…. also I think it will also age better than the 5800x3d, as software/games get more multithreaded over the years to come

        • Context switching and thread synchronisation make me think that 16 threads on the 5800x3d is more than enough for any games now, or well into the future. Assuming there aren't massive IPC shifts. Extra threads on 5900 will be negligible for games for the foreseeable future.

        • I mean AMD's six core CPUs aged a lot better than Intel's four core ones, but twelve cores is definitely a lot when there's really no games even using eight.

The 5800x3d is probably ~15% faster on average for gaming at 1080p, medium settings. For 1440p/2160p on high/ultra they're basically identical. There are also a few games that only care about clock speeds but not cache like Civilisation where the 5900x is a few percent faster.
With that being said, if you were only buying it for gaming, I'd go for the Amazon 5800x3d deal or a 5600/5700x deal.

  • True. But who only games on their PC these days….
