Why not pay an extra $10 for the ASUS TUF Gaming AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08R81J62G

    • Look at this daily, hope next gen brings it down even further.

      • Here is me hoping next gen brings better RT and Raster at good price.

I can think of one scenario, if someone has a psu that can’t handle 6900xt, buying another wouldn’t make it $10 more, can’t think of anything else tho

      • Highly doubt that as they have very similar power consumptions, its recommended roughly 700w for 6800xt and 750w for 6900xt.

@Pugkin or if the ASUS TUF is too long, this GPU is considerably shorter.

The ASUS is too long for my eGPU box :(

For $10 more to get a significantly more powerful card, you cut a hole into that bugger to make it fit

      • Just run a mild undervolt then, it'll still perform better.

    • Is there any difference between International and Local models?

Wow, prices are going down on these cards or what?

I'd paid $600ish for a 5700XT mid-2020 and it's served (and is serving me) quite well TBH.

Not sure if a bargain 6000 series is a better investment than a brand new 7000 series though?

The thing is that The 5700XT works fine for what it is and can even do 4K gaming just fine on my TV, but the 6800XT for example would take that to another level.

Though the ray tracing performance is questionable with AMD, I wonder what the 7000 series RT performance will be like?

Like I'd said, the 5700XT does JUST FINE for even 4K gaming…

Shoulda sold it for 1.5k during the crypto boom

      • +3

Yeah you're right, but I didn't know that it was all gonna come crashing down - I was also warned about selling used cards on eBay and didn't have the OG box (lesson learned about keeping old packaging).

        • +4

Who would have thought prices were going to come crashing down eventually… /s

      • sold my last year for 1.2k

      • +1

I did exactly this, the guy came round same day and paid $1.5k Cash!

AMD to unveil RDNA 3 graphics cards on November 3. maybe worth waiting the 2 days to see what comes out at what price

    • +3

Yeah that's what I mean - they might make the prices competitive or try and push the RDNA2 tech by artificially inflating RDNA3 prices…

  • +5

This is not really a bargain as for just $10 more u can have a much better card

  • +3

Can’t believe I paid $1899 for one, then sold it six months later for $2300. Crazy times.

  • +2

This is not a good price considering the current market imo

  • Mehhh

  • Amazon has a Asus Tuf 6900xt OC for $909. You would be stupid to buy this, I'm not sure why people are upvoting this

Quoted from Toms Hardware live blog from AMD RDNA3
"For all those who haven't jumped on an RTX 4090 yet, these cards at the very least will give gamers something to think about. No need for a brand-new PSU or a four-pin adapter with possible electrical connector issues, and these cards look like they'll fit in a lot more cases. If the 7900 cards are at all competitive and, at least as importantly, if they stay at those prices and there is enough stock, these cards will likely sell well.

But as much as I like the below-$1,000 prices, both AMD and Nvidia are (for now at least), only catering to the extreme high end of the market. I hope to see some new and more reasonably affordable cards by the time CES comes around again early next year.

    Hey, I can dream."

    These are of course $usd….
