Recently got the GW4 for $199 - not sure the GW5 is worth $200 more, and TBH I'm not sure any smartwatch is worth that much. Around $200 is the sweet spot for the usefulness of the device.

Then you have to upgrade every time you change your phone…

      • Ummmm… why?

    • Where did tou get gw4 for 199???

Correct. Blink and you miss it type deal.

I'm pretty happy with the watch for $199, but I reckon at $399 I'd be questioning the value for money. It's useful for scanning notifications, controlling media playback and checking your vital signs, but beyond that it doesn't do much else (besides displaying the time).

    • Better Battery life especially if you want to use all the features

    • Coming from a $180 Galaxy watch active to an Apple Watch 7, I can say it's worth it if you use the features. And it was very worthit for me haha ;-)

      • How do you find the Apple Watch 7 compared to the GW4?
Assume you needed to buy an iPhone for the Apple Watch 7 to work?

        • Yep, I had an iPhone and was using the GWA2, as I only just got an iPhone after 12 years with android. Currently really loving the apple watch. I bought it for $520 a few weeks ago. Feels much more like a standalone device compared to the GWA2, in that the apps are so well developed. I can load up Microsoft Authenticator as an example, and approve/deny requests straight from the watch. I can even load up Google Keep and tick off items from the shopping list as I'm going, rather than pulling out my phone constantly. Qantas app loads boarding passes automatically. Auspost has item tracking from the watch. Many little things really. Over all I really am enjoying it far more than I thought I would. I don't like the design of the device, but rectangle works so well for emails/messages.

          • @onlinepred: Wow damn those "little things" are what i need from a Watch. But im using Samsung phone…

          • @onlinepred: thanks mate, that is a very informative review.

          • @onlinepred: Sadly, most of those things are the result of developers not creating apps for WearOS.

For what it's worth, the WearOS AusPost app has item tracking and the Google Keep app lets you tick things off.

            • @dontpanic: Yea I just didn’t like wear os as I had the fossil Gen 4&5 and they were a waste of space. I can only assume it’s gotten better since then, but it was so so bad hey. Like they didn’t hire a QA tester, or a UI designer.

    • Agree, I missed out on the GW4 for $199. As they need to be recharged daily, $200 is about right

  • What does this offer that last gen doesn't? This is twice the price
