You might want to check this out https://youtu.be/4AnyhHl3_tE I have a BlackVue in 4x4 and Viofo in the daily and I can't tell the difference between the two.
Yep, seen that video.
But with the quality of drivers around still need one.
Have had the Viofo for 3 years and works well! Can recommend.
Looking to get some basic tools for the car, was going to go with ToolPro from SCA. But since the MechPro stuff at Repco is discounted I may go for this brand instead? Anyone got experience with either of the in-house brands for tools, specifically torque wrench, socket set, breaker bar? Should I wait for ToolPro to go on sale instead? Thanks :)
I’m in a similar boat. I am after a hand trolley, the SCA and ToolPro units are way better value than branded stuff from Bunnings/Mitre 10/Total Tools. From my research (online only), they seem to be pretty much the same and I imagine the quality is comparable.
I recently bought a ToolPro 3000kg jack and it’s actually quite good quality, works good and seems well built. So I trust this brand, at least for the bigger items (wouldn’t go for the smaller tools eg. Screwdrivers, probably) but the socket sets are probably fine.
I've got the ToolproX 228 piece toolkit. I did a lot of research and really wanted a 6 point socket, not 12 point like what's usually sold. I absolutely love the Socket set. The Imperial stuff isn't really needed, but there's a very good range of sockets and deep sockets in all 3 ratchet sizes. It comes on sale periodically for $349 (don't pay the retail $499). With my 7 months of use, absolutely love the set and would very much recommend it.
I also bought the Toolpro adaptors (for like $20-30) and it is very good use even though the toolkit has adapter's. These are different size and has come in very useful over time for different sized jobs I've done. Have some other Toolpro tools and works well.
Have Mechpro torque wrench and works well. Seems standard and nothing to complain about.
Would very much recommend Toolpro stuff, but the few Mechpro things I have also work well although it can sometimes be more money unless you get a sale. Probably best value would be to get Mechpro from Sparesbox with an eBay coupon or something or to get Toolpro on sale.
Hope that helps @Soulbutter
@GENERALskunk so you'd recommend the Toolpro 3000kg hydraulic jack? (The $249 on sale one?). I've been eyeing it down. Currently have the Orange brand from Repco, the 1800kg one, but would like more lifting range and considering the upgrade.
Appreciate the comprehensive review of your tools! Definitely helps out a lot for my buying decision.
Sorry I’ve got my facts wrong! I got a MechPro 2000kg Jack, the aluminium one:
https://www.repco.com.au/en/tools-equipment/garage-tools-equ…
It’s very good, I would recommend it. I don’t have a need for anything higher, my vehicles won’t ever be more than 2 tonnes on a single axle.
ToolPro…Mechpro…. Easily confused.
@GeneralSkunk: I ended up buying the 350kg MechPro hand trolley very reluctantly. The ones they had were so damaged. Wheels were beat up, paint scratched down to the undercoat and steel in areas, and corners of the bottom banged up. One wheel guard is bent in and the axle tube was dented so the axle barely went in. They gave me wheels from another which weren’t as dented and scratched. They said they would do a good price but they just gave me $1 discount on top of the auto club discount which I had. I really needed one today and didn’t have time to shop around. So I grudgingly bought it. But anyway it’s usable, it’s just in second hand condition. As were the other ones they had.
I left a review on their website with photos but dunno if it’s up.
I also bought the ToolPro wet and dry vacuum on a clearance:
https://www.repco.com.au/en/car-care-panel/power-cleaning/va…
Check your receipt if you buy in store.
I checked mine when I got home and it looks like I only got 20% off. Same order online for click and collect was roughly $7 cheaper.
Edit: was care care products so definitely eligible for 25% off
Repco has a spin and win promo on at the moment too if you spend over $60, you can win gift cards, merch etc. Local Repco allowed me to pick 2 items of merch, got a 5000Mah powerbank and SS coffee mug. Power bank worth $30 RRP so not bad.
Grrr BlackVue cameras excluded!
