Ranked #1 by gamesradar for ps5 upgrade

It's an affiliate ad page so not relevant to anything. There's no functional difference on a PS5 between SN850, 980 Pro or this Firecuda 530.

    • There's no functional difference on a PS5 between SN850, 980 Pro or this Firecuda 530.

      Fixed that for ya :)

      • Though you’re unlikely to push it that hard this comparison does show an advantage for the firecuda over the black.. https://nascompares.com/seagate-firecuda-530-vs-wd-black-sn8…

Though they are much of a muchness, I was going to get the SN850 until I found this deal.

        • That's just spec comparisons, no?

Here's a review, and by 'functional' I meant noticeable, it's extremely unlikely a normal person would actually notice the difference between the drives (especially since they kinda trade blows) so it's effectively always best to just get whatever's cheaper, which was my point & presumably hybroid's too.

Edit: To be clear, I wasn't dismissing the deal — just saying that I believe calling it #1 is an oversell.

          • @eepykate: Whether you can tell the difference between a few microseconds or not in real world usage is the reason benchmarks exist. And this is the fastest available ssd so its numero uno.

        • Here are actual file read speeds for Firecuda vs SN850 vs 980 Pro, actually tested by Toms hardware.

          • @Sleepycat3: You know that's Q1T1 based read (which is a useful test) compared to a lot of the quoted Q4/Q8 figures of 7000+. It's still sequential read though.

It was $345 a few weeks ago, I got one and it's still sitting in its box next to my PS5 :D

  • These are onky for ps5 or pc too
